My Pregnant Contract Wife Ran Away from Me!
Chapter 318: The Woman Who Gives Gifts

Chapter 318: Chapter 318: The Woman Who Gives Gifts

The man turned his head slightly after hearing her and raised an eyebrow: "Beg?"

Wen Ran nodded: "I want to look for my ring. Does your office have surveillance? Or... is there surveillance outside the CEO’s office? I want to check who has entered your office or my resting room between the day before yesterday and yesterday. I’m sure I left my ring on my desk, but now I can’t find it anywhere."

"This is the Fu Group. There won’t be any thieves."

"Then why can’t I find my ring?"

Fu Chenlie cast her a sidelong glance, "You lost something, and you’re asking me?"

Wen Ran, "..."

Yes, she lost it. But it happened in his office.

Shouldn’t he at least take some responsibility and help check?

Wen Ran thought as much inwardly but didn’t dare argue with him.

Losing something was dumb enough — what qualification did she have to criticize anyone else?

Especially this "anyone" happened to be the head of Fu Group, whom she wouldn’t dare provoke lightly.

In the end, Wen Ran returned to the resting room with her head hanging low in defeat.

All day, her mood was downcast, her frustration simmering. She couldn’t tell if she was more angry at her own stupidity or something else. Regardless, her lingering obsession over the missing ring didn’t fade with time; instead, it grew even stronger.

Wen Ran felt a tightness in her chest—was she about to stress herself into developing mastitis?!

Afternoon, ten past five.

From the driver’s resting room, Wen Ran spotted Fu Chenlie taking a call. Shortly afterward, he rose from his office chair, seeming to be heading out.

She thought it was her first time during her "chauffeur career" being on duty to drive during office hours. Instinctively, she stood up.

But as she opened the resting room door and looked toward the man walking by, he glanced at her indifferently: "Going to the restroom?"

"No, where are you going?"

"Do I have to report my whereabouts to you?"

Wen Ran quickly shook her head and clarified: "Of course not. I meant, if you’re going out for business, since I’m your driver, I’ll drive."

Fu Chenlie looked at her and found it amusing. Her eagerness to volunteer for work made him chuckle for real: "Not necessary. I’m just heading downstairs to pick something up. Focus on your own tasks."

She blurted out, "What kind of item even requires the boss himself to retrieve it?"

He raised an eyebrow, lightly curled his lips, then tossed her an enigmatic answer: "What the item is doesn’t matter. What matters is the sender."

Wen Ran responded with an "Oh."

She watched him leave the office, observed him closing the door behind him, her thoughts still mulling over his cryptic "sender" comment.

So—

Who exactly was sending him something?

Who held such sway that Fu Chenlie himself had to go downstairs to receive whatever it was? A man or... a woman?!

Wen Ran’s curiosity surged, but she couldn’t follow Fu Chenlie downstairs to find out.

Returning to the resting room, she sat for a while longer, her thoughts circling: just who could command such significant influence?

After an intense internal struggle, Wen Ran left the resting room and walked over to the floor-to-ceiling window, peering down below.

From her perch on Fu Group’s rooftop floor, looking down from such a height, she couldn’t clearly make out the features of people below. But Fu Chenlie’s attire was unmistakably recognizable, and his physique and demeanor made it easy to pinpoint him.

Soon, Wen Ran saw a woman stepping out of a red sedan.

The woman wore sunglasses, her lazy curls cascading at her sides. Even from a great distance, her graceful and striking aura was evident—she was undoubtedly beautiful.

After exiting the car, the woman opened the backseat and retrieved something resembling a gift bag, handing it to Fu Chenlie.

Fu Chenlie accepted it and said something to her. In response, the woman reached out and patted his shoulder, her face radiating a visible smile, as though genuinely in high spirits.
