My Pregnant Contract Wife Ran Away from Me! -
Chapter 316: Secretly Thrilled
Chapter 316: Chapter 316: Secretly Thrilled
Fu Chenlie caught her admiring gaze and snorted dismissively, "That’s nothing more than a minor skill. What’s so shocking about it?"
Wen Ran retorted, "How is that just a minor skill? I don’t even know how to change a lightbulb."
"Just figure out the positive and negative ends, and you’ll know how."
"That’s easy for you to say. If I find it difficult, then it’s hard for me. The fact that you can do it proves how amazing you are."
Listening to her genuine praise, he curved his lips with satisfaction. While tidying up the tools, he remarked teasingly, "Mrs. Fu, your husband’s strengths aren’t limited to fixing lights."
"Then what else can you do?"
"Anything you need me to do, I can do it all."
Wen Ran stared at his arrogant and confident demeanor, momentarily speechless.
It really did sound impressive.
But specifically, she didn’t know what she might need him to know.
Perhaps when she encountered troubles in daily life and he solved them for her, only then would she realize, oh, he’s capable of this too.
Isn’t that how relationships work, discovering each other’s strengths through mutual understanding?
The reason she was so surprised today about him being able to fix the light was because, after all, he was a privileged young man from a wealthy family who had been pampered since childhood. Yet, he was remarkably skilled at such mundane household tasks that ordinary men should master, which truly amazed her.
When Wen Ran followed him downstairs to put away the tools, she trailed behind him and asked, "Honey, do you know how to fix a faucet?"
"Yes."
"Then if I buy some small furniture online that needs assembly, can you put it together?"
"Yes."
"And if the toilet gets clogged, can you unblock it?"
The previously indifferent Fu Chenlie suddenly stopped in his tracks when he heard this, glanced sideways at her, and said nothing.
She cautiously guessed, "You can’t?"
"...I can."
"You’re amazing, you know everything!"
The man let out a faint scoff.
Wen Ran sincerely marveled, "Honey, I suddenly feel like living with you gives me such a sense of security."
Fu Chenlie didn’t reply, but his heart was brimming with joy.
He had merely changed a lightbulb, yet this woman was acting as if she’d discovered some new world—she looked positively thrilled and full of admiration. If she ever saw him confidently negotiating in the business world, wouldn’t she end up completely mesmerized?
As he thought of this, an immense sense of pride washed over him.
After they put the tools in the storeroom, the two headed back upstairs, one following the other.
Wen Ran stepped off the final stair, turned around to look at Fu Chenlie, and said with a bright smile, "Honey, we still have a hug left for tonight."
He raised an eyebrow slightly.
Taking the initiative?
While he was still suspicious, she spoke again, "Should I hug you?"
As soon as she said that, Wen Ran reached out and embraced him.
Fu Chenlie still had one foot on the last stair when the woman suddenly wrapped her arms around his neck, leaving him with mixed feelings.
On the one hand, he was delighted by her initiative; on the other hand, he felt that this kind of hug wasn’t exactly satisfying.
Luckily, Wen Ran quickly loosened her grip, took two steps back, and smiled at him, "Done hugging. I’m going to sleep now. Good night, honey."
After saying that, she turned and walked toward the bedroom.
Fu Chenlie stepped off the last stair, his gaze fixed on her cheerful figure as his lips curled into an earnest smile.
Her days at Huan Island Villa were simple, yet somehow, they made him feel deeply amused. Somehow, even the smallest things seemed to come to life with her presence.
He raised his foot to head to his room. After taking only two steps, a creaking sound behind him interrupted his flow, followed by her voice echoing through the hallway—
"Honey, wait a second. I need to tell you something."
The man turned back, "What is it?"
"It’s kind of serious. You won’t yell at me, will you?" While saying this, her petite face scrunched up, her eyes filled with worry. That expression was so genuine that it made Fu Chenlie wonder if her earlier joy had been a facade.
