My Pregnant Contract Wife Ran Away from Me!
Chapter 148 Bumped into His Arms

Chapter 148: Chapter 148 Bumped into His Arms

Wen Ran had never had her fingers kissed by a man before.

She felt it was a gesture a man should only make after he had knelt on one knee to propose to a woman and placed a ring on her finger.

But today, her fingers were kissed, all thanks to a man’s vile taming.

This feeling left her feeling troubled and uneasy.

Fu Chenlie caught every hint of her hesitant and resistant expression, his eyes flashing with displeasure, and suddenly he yanked her forward!

Wen Ran, caught off guard, stumbled into his arms.

When she looked up, his restrained voice reached her ears, "I promised to develop feelings with you, but you shy away from my touches? Wen Ran, do you think I’m too easy-going to challenge my limits time and again?"

Without thinking, she denied it, "No."

"No? What’s with your resistance and rejection today?"

"I just feel that you have someone you like; you shouldn’t get too close to me."

Fu Chenlie raised his tone to question, "Are you bothered by Wan Ning?"

At this question, Wen Ran immediately heard his contemptuous snort, "Wen Ran, what right do you have to be bothered by Wan Ning? When you married me, didn’t you know that I didn’t love you, didn’t like you, and didn’t even want to marry you?"

She lifted her head, biting her words out, "I knew you didn’t love me and didn’t want to marry me, but I didn’t know your heart belonged to another."

The man’s lips curled into a cold smile, "So? If you knew my heart belonged to another, would you have needed Grandma to help you? Would you have needed a lawyer to defend your father?"

Of course not.

She still needed it, but she would at least have been mentally prepared.

During the silence, Fu Chenlie’s chilling tone reached her ears, "Since you have no moral high ground, stop throwing tantrums here with me. Don’t humiliate yourself, understand?"

Wen Ran silently clenched her teeth, meeting his gaze.

He raised an eyebrow, "What are you looking at? Disagree?"

She didn’t speak but instead took his large hand in hers, "You’re overthinking it. I don’t mind your touches; your hands are so handsome that holding them is my good fortune. I just wasn’t sure about your loyalty to the person you like. Since you feel there’s no need for loyalty now that we’re married, from now on, whether you want to hold my hand, or embrace me, or kiss me, I won’t say another word. Today was just my overacting. I thought Mr. Fu was a devoted man who would remain chaste for his first love."

"When did I ever give you that impression?"

"I said it, didn’t I? I was mistaken. Now that we’ve cleared that up, can we go see Grandma?"

Fu Chenlie looked at her face, his deep eyes darkening.

Although her words seemed to be appeasing him, why did it feel like every word she said was insincere, as though she was brushing him off?

A passerby came by, someone who knew Wen Ran, and seeing her with a tall and handsome man, smiled and greeted her, "Ranran, you’re back?"

Wen Ran dropped her prickliness and smiled back, "Yes, where are you off to, Aunt?"

The other spoke up, "Me? I’m off to the market to buy some vegetables. Is this your boyfriend? He’s very handsome."

She smiled, not explicitly saying "yes," but not denying it either.

However, the Aunt had already taken her smile as consent, continuing, "You should take your boyfriend home and show him to your Grandma; she’d definitely like him. I’m off to the market now."

She waved her hand and smiled, "Goodbye, Aunt."
