My Pregnant Contract Wife Ran Away from Me! -
Chapter 146: Don’t Get Handsy
Chapter 146: Chapter 146: Don’t Get Handsy
Fu Chenlie didn’t care and was even angry because she mentioned his first love.
He didn’t even bother to carry Wen Ran to the bed or the sofa; he simply left her on the bedroom floor, turned around without a word, and left without any hint of nostalgia...
Wen Ran stared at Fu Chenlie’s retreating figure, her fair face showing complete indifference.
She thought that since Fu Chenlie had brought up Jiang Wan Ning while they were talking about Xu Tong, she could mention her too, but she didn’t realize that in his eyes, she didn’t have that right.
Even though she had merely mentioned Jiang Wan Ning casually during their conversation, without speaking ill of her or prying into their past,
she remembered how someone had mentioned "Ms. Wan Ning" at a dinner party one night, and he’d nearly lost his temper but still maintained some dignity.
Yet today, when she mentioned "Ms. Wan Ning," he flipped out, leaving no room for sentiment.
It seemed in Fu Chenlie’s eyes, her status as his legal wife was even less than his business partners on the field.
Indeed, business partners could bring him financial benefits. What could she bring him?
In Huan Island Villa, what she could provide was probably only as valuable as cooking, similar to what a maid would offer.
Thinking about it was truly absurd.
Jiang Wan Ning was Fu Chenlie’s forbidden zone.
"Ms. Wan Ning" was her taboo word.
Wen Ran silently noted this in her heart.
From now on, she would never bring it up again.
...
The next day.
Wen Ran, as usual, got up to make breakfast.
Just as she finished preparing the breakfast, she heard Fu Chenlie coming downstairs.
By the time she looked up, he was already walking toward the dining room.
She bowed her head and silently began eating with her utensils.
Fu Chenlie entered and elegantly took his seat at his usual spot.
The breakfast was very quiet.
Near the end, Wen Ran heard Fu Chenlie speak, "Send me the location of the town where Grandma is."
She responded with a "Okay" and mechanically sent him the location via her phone.
The man stood up, "I’ll wait for you outside."
Wen Ran didn’t speak. After he left, she cleaned up the dining room and went to the kitchen to wash the dishes.
After finishing, she went upstairs, changed her clothes, grabbed her bag, and left the house.
When Wen Ran reached the yard, she saw Fu Chenlie standing beside the car, on the phone.
He had one hand in his trouser pocket, his expression serious. He nodded occasionally, uttering an "Mm" here and there, his whole demeanor exuding an air of noble aloofness.
She averted her gaze, stepped toward the driver’s side door, and pulled on the handle only to find the car was still locked.
Wen Ran looked up at Fu Chenlie.
His call had ended, and he was striding toward her with long steps.
Upon seeing her stand by the driver’s door, he reached out to pull her without a word.
Seeing him about to touch her, Wen Ran instinctively drew back to avoid his touch, then looked up to meet his gaze and spoke lightly, "Mr. Fu, if you have something to say, please say it without touching."
Fu Chenlie raised an eyebrow, his tone laced with surprise, "Mr. Fu?"
She didn’t respond further, only saying, "It’s getting late. Could you unlock the car so we can leave?"
"It’s the weekend and the roads will be busy. I’ll drive; you take the passenger seat."
"Understood."
After dropping these few words, she moved to go to the passenger side, but suddenly her wrist was grasped.
Wen Ran turned to look at him, her tone nonchalant, "What is it?"
Fu Chenlie stepped closer to her, looking down imposingly, and demanded, "When we arrive at your Grandma’s, are you still going to call me Mr. Fu?"
She pursed her lips, "I’ll adapt to the situation."
He frowned, "What’s wrong with you?"
She smiled lightly, "I’m fine."
The man scoffed, clearly not convinced, his demeanor like one settling an account as he looked at her, "You’re fine, yet you’re calling me Mr. Fu? Not used to calling me husband after all this time?"
