My Pregnant Contract Wife Ran Away from Me!
Chapter 144: Haven’t You Pretended Enough?

Chapter 144: Chapter 144: Haven’t You Pretended Enough?

Since he was all set, he boldly said, "She’s in the master bedroom on the second floor. You can go up and take a look, but try not to make too much noise. It’d be bad if you woke her up since Ranran is a bit grumpy when she wakes up."

Grandma looked at Fu Chenlie skeptically, "You know her that well?"

"Sleeping together every day, knowing she’s grumpy when she wakes up, isn’t that normal?"

"Hmph."

Grandma didn’t bother with further chatter, ascended the stairs, and when she reached the master bedroom door, she pushed it open very gently. Seeing Wen Ran really lying there, asleep on her grandson’s bed, a satisfied smile appeared on her face.

Just as she was about to look away and close the door, something struck her.

Why were there no shoes of Ranran beside the bed?

Neither were Ranran’s clothes on the coat rack in the room!

Grandma, aged past fifty with plenty of life experience, wouldn’t fail to see through such a simple trick after so many years.

She had seen through everything.

Her dear grandson was putting on an act for her.

Grandma gently closed the door, turned back to Fu Chenlie, and asked, "When do you plan on giving me a great-grandchild?"

He promptly shifted the blame onto Wen Ran, "Ranran said she’ll think about having children after she falls in love with me."

Grandma nodded gravely, judging, "Since when did my grandson learn to respect others? Truly rare."

The man remained silent.

Seconds later, he looked at Grandma and said, "Grandma, today I plan to visit Ranran’s grandma with her. What do you think we should bring as a gift?"

Grandma, immediately interested, exclaimed, "Really?"

"Yep."

"Okay, it’s about time you visited Ranran’s home. You two haven’t even made a return visit since you got married. Well then, why don’t you take..."

Grandma listed some expensive supplements and fruits.

Fu Chenlie acknowledged, "Okay, I got it."

Grandma looked at him and said, "Since you two have plans today, I won’t stay here any longer. I’ll be going now."

The man teasingly suggested, "Should I wake Ranran up so she can keep you company?"

Grandma gave him a glaring look that said, "Sweet grandson, haven’t you pretended enough?"

Yet when she spoke, Grandma said lightly, "Never mind, just come with her next weekend for a meal at the old house. That will make me happy. No need to stay here any longer today."

"Okay, I’ll see you downstairs."

After their conversation, Fu Chenlie turned around.

As he turned, Grandma saw the bandage on his head and immediately grabbed his arm, asking worriedly, "My boy, what happened to your head? Why is it bandaged? Did you get hurt? Is it serious?"

"It’s nothing."

"How can you dismiss a head injury as nothing? What exactly happened?"

Fu Chenlie looked at Grandma’s inquisitive demeanor and slowly said, "While enjoying marital life with your granddaughter-in-law, I accidentally rolled out of bed and hit my head on the bedside table."

Grandma paused, then chuckled casually, "I see. Looks like I’ll need to have someone make a bigger bed for my grandson someday, so nothing confines your performance or affects my chances of holding a great-grandchild."

Fu Chenlie, a bit sheepishly, replied, "If you’re happy, so am I."

Grandma scoffed, then proceeded downstairs.

Marital life?

She figured Ranran had hit him!

Although she realized her grandson hadn’t yet truly shared a bed with Ranran, her visit today had still brought the bride to her grandson’s bed.

That was progress of a kind.

She wasn’t in a rush. They could take their time.

Not even a month of the year had passed yet, and there was plenty of time left.
