Chapter 177: Award for the Brave and the Saviors【3/60】_1
(Added bonus Chapter for ’Novice Village Chief Tepar’ brothers 3/5)
As member Wumeioge ventured off alone, the rest of the players remained on the move.
The majority of the junk in the outer city had already been picked clean, but the novice players quickly discovered new ways to amuse themselves.
For instance, after completing Lady Cui Si’s twelve-stage item hunt, they were able to pick up on various "rumors" about the outer city while delivering alcohol to her.
Whether it be tales of homes hiding treasure, blacksmiths boasting unique creations, or locations of gang encampments once dominant in the outer city.
These may appear as harmless urban legends; however, a little scrutiny would reveal important clues hidden within Lady Cui Si’s gossip.
The special areas she mentioned were incredibly well hidden. Without a local guide, novice players would struggle to pinpoint the locations in the crumbling city ruins.
But if one managed to piece together a piece of truth from all the fragments, the rewards would be exceptionally rich.
Just like yesterday afternoon!
The student group which included the Bionic Snail, Coo Coo Chicken, and Ayu, following the clues from Lady Cui Si’s gossip, discovered a finely crafted, veteran-level ceremonial gun from the ruined cellar of a local captain’s house.
The story spread like wildfire on the forum.
Happy Stick and his friends have also been tirelessly working on the same task these past couple of days.
They gathered information from Cui Si in exchange for alcohol, then went to the survivor camp for additional leads, and as a result, they uncovered a location possibly brimming with treasure.
It was an abandoned tunnel situated beneath the seventh sewer entrance in the outer city.
Apparently, it was once a secret base for the outer city’s gang. Rumors speculated that a treasure vault was hidden inside, and a large blacksmith’s shop was not far away.
So with a bit of luck, they could get a huge chunk of money to start up their team. Maxim assigned them a mission, asking them to retrieve the blacksmith’s equipment.
For Stick Brother who was eagerly trying to get the team together, this was an opportunity he couldn’t afford to miss.
Stick Brother’s eagerness was for a very practical reason.
The lack of money!
He never imagined that all thirteen friends he recommended would get into the game in the same batch. Aside from the five who got killed due to reckless behavior and misfortune and were waiting to respawn, he was left with eight desperate guys on his hands.
The consumption of ammunition every time these bastards went into action was a tremendous burden, and scavenging could hardly meet their daily needs.
Being a loyal guy in desperate need of extra income, Stick Brother had to take a dangerous path, opting to go to the only location in the outer city that had yet to be thoroughly explored—the sewer area.
According to the local residents, the city’s sewer area was a labyrinth, hiding many dark and dangerous things; compared to the catastrophe brought on by the Star Realm Rift, all of that barely counted as dangerous.
This exploration was also part of Murphy’s plan.
He had scheduled the "Great Burning" plan for tonight and was planning to formally wind up this special event that had been going on for seven days.
But before he issued the next mainline task to the novice players, there was still an important thing he had to do.
"Whoosh"
With her bat-like wings drawn back, Lady Adel accurately landed in front of Murphy.
Her hands folded over her stomach, she addressed her elder in a soft voice:
"The last local’s breath disappeared in the outer city ruins, near the sewer where your servants went to explore.
Over the course of three days, they tirelessly found over 460 people from this desolate land and brought them back to safety. No matter from which angle you see it, your servants are indeed true warriors."
"They’ve always been like that. I never had any doubt."
Morphy was quite satisfied with the outcome.
Although they were not able to rescue all trapped in the ruins, he did see the hard work of the novice players. Their three-day search had more than doubled the population in the survivor camp. Those survivors who were saved from despair also loved the foreign-speaking warriors.
The image of the vampire Lord Morphy in their minds also became very positive.
That’s exactly what Morphy wanted to see.
The first step of winning hearts had been perfectly demonstrated, allowing him to smoothly advance the second step. As key players in this, the novice players certainly had to be rewarded handsomely!
Especially the first five players who triggered this "hidden task".
With that in mind, Murphy decided to go on the forum and test the waters. He commanded Lady Adel, who was waiting for instructions:
"Prep with the young lady. At dusk we’ll head to the ’Nocturne’ secret base underground. Move the three underground hubs out of the ruins."
"Marching orders, Master Morphy."
Lady Adel took a step back and opened her bat wings to fly into the sky, disappearing into the dim light.
The silent half-elf blood descendant really enjoyed flying. After becoming vampire, Morphy had never seen her walk on her own two feet.
If possible, she’d always choose to fly.
"What strange idiosyncrasies..."
Speaking bitterly, the novice vampire lord who hadn’t yet grown his wings sat down. He then summoned the forum interface and skillfully began monitoring the gaming group.
