Chapter 1631: 547. Murphy the Line-Stealer: My open arms reward friends and chill the hearts of foes_3

Count Bai of White Mountain smiled without saying a word. Clearly, the first dividend from Treasure Bay had greatly satisfied the Earl, who was eager to prove himself.

Thirty minutes later, the army of players and NPCs arrived at the outskirts of the besieged valley. According to their prearranged battle plan, they began to disperse and set up temporary positions.

Hunters and assassins were assigned to Lord Qin’s command, while Stick Brother personally led a group of players equipped with small cannons to secure a high ground for artillery deployment. Meanwhile, Brother Meow and Uncle Fredyng commanded the warriors in the vanguard. The Spellcasters and Psychics, under the leadership of Miss Phemys, were busy casting buffs and raising the undead.

The most crucial healers were grouped under the Silver Moon Group, led by Lady Shui.

Much like a machine going through a break-in period, the team began operating slowly. Though the process was still a bit awkward, once it reached full speed, any obstacle ahead would be crushed mercilessly.

The newbies were still struggling to adapt to this style of group combat. Take Brother Huozi, for example—he was clinging to his wife’s side, playing the role of her "guardian angel." However, as he was merely a Druid apprentice and couldn’t even transform into a bear yet, he was assigned to Brother Meow’s group as cannon fodder.

Meanwhile, Brother Yuan trailed behind Orchid with a shield in hand, pacing back and forth. Orchid, finding him clumsy and inept, eventually noticed that he didn’t even know how to properly grip a tower shield. Sighing in exasperation, she had to step forward to help him quickly master the correct technique for using a large shield.

Judging by the strange "maternal smile" plastered on Brother Huozi’s face, one might suspect that Brother Yuan was feigning incompetence. Heh, sometimes the IQ of men pursuing women is comparable to that of Einstein.

"Vanguard squad, move out. It’s our turn."

Murphy saw Lord Qin lead a group of assassins and hunters, stealthily advancing into the magical fog of war that blanketed the valley. He immediately leapt into action, spreading his wings and soaring into the air.

Andre, unwilling to fly and outright rejecting Murphy’s "air express courier" offer, decided to stay on the ground. But Count Bai of White Mountain, being a Night Walker personally trained by Lady Shani, had no problem slipping through the enemy’s fog-shrouded stronghold in stealth mode.

So Murphy went ahead.

Thanks to his terrifying speed and masterful use of Shadow Flee, Murphy pierced through the dense fog of war in just a few minutes, making his way deep into the valley.

"There’s something off about this fog of war!"

As Murphy realized that the fog was distorting and blocking his perception, he felt a surge of unease.

This wasn’t ordinary fog of war. The Twilight followers had infused the mist with other "elements," greatly amplifying its suppression of Psychic perception. It was practically a "large-scale silence field."

But this was no match for Murphy’s wings. Especially with Spirit Vulture Reveno offering precise guidance, Murphy soon located the Blood Fear Clan’s stronghold.

What he saw there stunned him.

It was clear that the Blood Fear Clan had intended to construct a sturdy defensive line in the valley to secure their survival amidst the Black Disaster. They had poured significant resources into fortifying the valley’s entrance. Unfortunately, the area was now occupied by Heretics. From above, Murphy could see black-robed figures patrolling the cracked walls.

There were humans, dwarves, Wolf People, and Goat Men among them, along with other bizarre races Murphy had never seen before. Near the watchtowers, even centaur-like creatures equipped with war bows were guarding their posts.

On the toppled walls, dozens of pirates dressed as Blood Fear members were tied up with ropes and left hanging. Their condition was miserable—they hadn’t died, but they screamed, cursed, and hurled obscenities at the Twilight followers so foul that even Murphy blushed. A specific executioner went around lashing these captives with whips.

It was obviously a tactic to add pressure on the defiant vampires.

At the valley’s center, a section of land separating two parts of the stronghold appeared to have been violently plowed by something invisible.

The ground had been churned up in patches, as if an Earth Dragon had turned the soil. This odd tactic had proven effective, as traces in the dirt revealed that both of the Blood Fear Pirates’ positions had been brutally split apart by such methods.

The Blood Fear Pirates were still holding out.

But their condition was truly dire. They had already lost two-thirds of their valley defenses and were now desperately retreating to a fortress at the deepest point of the valley.

This fortress, likely a remnant from the earlier Black Disaster wars, had been appropriated by the Blood Fear Pirates.

The good news was that the fortress was incredibly sturdy. The bad news was that it was barely holding on.

As Murphy descended, he could see from afar that filthy purple magical fire burned on the fortress walls. Ugly scorch marks spread across its surface—evidence of some advanced spellwork. A few more strikes could easily bring down the entire wall.

"Click, click, click."

The moment Murphy landed out of the fog, he found himself facing twenty-seven aimed guns and seven harpoons. A group of weary, foul-mouthed, card-playing old sea dogs glared at him with cold eyes.

One one-eyed vampire pirate even licked his scimitar with his tongue, deliberately making an unhinged expression.

This move, meant to appear menacing but actually absurd, filled Murphy with disgust.

No, seriously, dude!

That blade is rusty—at least wipe it clean before licking it! Gross! Also, might I suggest investing in some tetanus insurance? Though I’m not sure if your fleet offers coverage. If not, just pretend I didn’t say anything.

"Get your leader out here!"
