Chapter 1108: 375. Old Huo’s Large-Scale "Social Experiment"_2

He lowered his voice and said,

"You’re the nephew of Commander Portman, right? Before I left Crimson Castle, he especially entrusted me to take care of you. I heard Commander Portman applied for the ’Administrative Knight’ position for you, and the assessment is in two months. Are you prepared?"

This question made young Captain Gotthard visibly embarrassed as he whispered with some discomfort,

"The practical courses won’t be a problem; I have fought the Jackal and Wolf people alongside you brave warriors. But the academic courses are a bit troublesome. However, no worries, Professor Malcolm has arranged for teachers to rotate through five farming estates to give lessons, and I think I can handle it!"

"Very good."

Tepar nodded in approval and promised,

"If our village develops well, I will write a letter of introduction for you."

These words made Captain Gotthard’s eyes sparkle.

He knew that these "Administrative Warriors" allocated directly from the administrative center to the farms had the authority to write letters of recommendation to propose talents to the administration—a reward from Governor Murphy to the warriors.

"The villagers are waiting for your speech, Mr. Village Chief."

Captain Gotthard stepped aside, and Tepar, looking at the 600 or so villagers of all ages before him, felt an uncommon twinge of nervousness. After taking several deep breaths, he stepped forward and announced loudly,

"I am your Village Chief, my name is Tepar, from the Rushing River Knights Group! Soon, my team will be building a new city in the Andma Hills, which you will witness rise with your own eyes.

I have designated the third farming estate as a supply point for the Rushing River Knights Group, which means that anything you grow from the earth will have a guaranteed market!

But beyond my identity as Chief of the Knights Group, I am also your guardian and leader!

My villagers, I am not here to squeeze you dry; I hope to lead you to a better life.

I know that achieving this in Transylvania is not easy, yet we have already endured the worst of times. I believe we will not stop at this stage.

Subsistence is just the beginning! Prosperity is the goal.

I am not eloquent and do not intend to win your trust with words alone. I believe you will see with your own eyes the development and prosperity I will bring to the third farming estate.

By then, I trust that you will sincerely recognize me as your Village Chief.

Now, I will announce the first thing I shall do as Village Chief, which is a renaming!"

Tepar raised his voice and declared,

"From today onwards! Our farm will be renamed ’Novice Village.’ Do not worry about the implications of this name because, sooner or later, the whole of Transylvania and the entire Continent will know of our existence!"

"Clap, clap, clap"

Right beside him, Mage Marlene immediately started clapping.

The crowd below was stunned for a moment before sparse applause followed. It wasn’t enthusiastic; most villagers still scrutinized this "godsent Village Chief" with a critical eye.

Some even scoffed at Tepar.

Not only because he was too young, but also because this fellow couldn’t even speak the local dialect of Transylvania and could only be understood through that bizarre Spiritual Energy device.

Everyone knew he was one of Sir Morphy’s "Warriors," and the Governor’s warriors were brave and fearless. Everyone present had seen their ferociousness while hunting the Jackal and Wolf people, and they had no doubts that Tepar was one of these valiant fighters.

However, being good at fighting doesn’t necessarily mean he would be an exceptional Village Chief.

If he messed up...

Heh heh, Sir Morphy certainly wouldn’t let him off the hook.

After all, even the kindest Vampire is still a Vampire, right?

---

While Tepar passionately announced his new plans to his villagers, a welcome ceremony in Collective Farming Estate One was hastily concluded.

Life is pretty good, acting as the Village Chief, merely perfunctorily introduced himself to his villagers and then announced that every villager present would receive a "gift" from the new Village Chief. They should each take a portion of the relief grain back from the threshing ground for an extra meal.

It was a simple and blunt approach, but it worked very well!

The entire village visibly came to life as villagers who had benefitted praised their generous new Village Chief.

Of course, the young men’s gazes always lingered on the four charming and seductive girls beside the new Village Chief. However, the "noble air" they exuded made them unapproachable.

These were noble ladies far beyond the reach of these commonfolk.

Old Huo completed his first meeting with his villagers and then dove straight into his Village Chief’s mansion, which was actually a small courtyard designed by Professor Chen for the administrative players. It wasn’t large, but it was very nicely arranged.

After all, the comfort of living for the players needs to be considered.

Old Huo in his office met with the "messenger" from the second farming estate—a sixteen-year-old girl, the secretary of the Pink Kitty Bunny Village Chief.

After reading the letter she brought from the Meow bunny Village Chief, Old Huo nodded his head.

He said to the girl waiting for his orders,

"Go back and tell Meow bunny Village Chief that I’ll be initiating my plan soon, and he can wait and see before deciding whether to join or not. Your second farming estate is in a crucial location, right between Bataxin City and Crimson Castle. If we have your cooperation, my plan will proceed all the more smoothly.
