Chapter 1107: 375. Old Huo’s Large-Scale "Social Experiment

Honorary Knight Taipal stood with his two deputies in the threshing yard of Village No. 3.

The entirety of the collective farm—consisting of over 600 individuals—had assembled; their spirits seemed fine, but their tattered clothes looked dreary, fostering an appearance devoid of vigor. The fearful posture and evasive gazes immediately reminded Taipal of the old-time farmers he had seen in some ancient documentaries. Standing in sparse formations here under the guidance of the militia sent from Crimson Castle, Taipal felt as if he were a villainous warlord arriving to pillage the village.

He quickly shook his head, pushing this unreliable thought from his mind, and silently chanted "serve the people" to recalibrate his mindset.

At that moment, Taipal himself stood atop a wooden scaffold temporarily constructed to welcome the "village elder’s" arrival. He and his two deputies surveyed the area soon to be declared "Novice Village."

Instead of low straw huts, randomly piled lumber, and penned livestock, what Taipal saw was a row of well-planned, identical-looking three-story "tube buildings."

These were built by the worker teams of the Mason Brothers’ Association, under the supervision of the Chosen Ashman, for the collective farm in recent times. The entire village’s planning was personally drawn up by Professor Chen, the honorary president of the Stonemason Brothers, offering a tidy aesthetic reminiscent of a "new rural area."

Due to the current lack of sufficient manpower and materials in Transylvania to paint the buildings, the completed angular structures retained their original appearance catalyzed by the Fossil into Mud Spell—a cold gray inherent to stone.

However, this uniformity in color rendered the architectural style of the entire village conservative and unified.

Indeed, Professor Chen is truly a rare talent in his field, having achieved the best possible results under existing conditions while also considering a unified architectural beauty.

More impressively, Old Chen had not only planned the residential areas for the collective farm but also the zones for livestock and the storage of materials. Since this was a collective farm, livestock raising was evidently a communal responsibility.

From Taipal’s recent "internship experiences," he knew the current administrative base for managing the population was founded on the "labor credit" system initially proposed by the trio of elders: Dump Truck, Shovel, and Half-Hanging Insurance, at the game’s outset.

Although this work-point system indeed bred many problems, Taipal couldn’t deny that, under the current circumstances in Transylvania, this communized collective management approach was absolutely the most fitting.

Second to none.

It not only maximized the efficiency of concentrating manpower and resources but also extended the village elder’s managerial depth into the minutiae of the farm, allowing daily labor credit summaries to keep abreast of the village’s daily situation. This system enforced uniform management across all individuals within the farm, making it difficult for the disobedient or schemers to disrupt the established order.

Under the premise of the work-point system, the benefits of compliance far outweighed any gains from ill-discipline; and for the residents of Transylvania, they were already very satisfied with their current lives.

They wouldn’t allow one or two "bad apples" to ruin the "grace" bestowed by Lord Murphy and Lady Milian. During their previous residence outside the city in the advance camp, there had been more than one instance of civilians proactively reporting petty thieves to the administration.

Clearly, the eyes of the local residents were sharp.

Though limited in culture and lacking eloquence, they knew well which was preferable—their life now safeguarded by order or the chaotic memory of society under vampire rule.

All this filled Taipal, the new village chief, with gratitude and respect for the veteran administrative players of old. Thanks to the foundation laid by the trio of elders, those who came after didn’t have to spend effort convincing the villagers to know and obey him.

"Report to the village chief! Out of the total 657 people in Farm No. 5, 630 are present, with the other 27 dispatched to Crimson Castle to apprentice with the Stonemason Brothers.

They will return in a week."

The militia captain of the farm, a somewhat thin but spirited young man clad in leather armor and wielding a sword and shield, stepped forward briskly and loudly reported to Taipal.

Honorary Knight Taipal nodded, then asked,

"When I left the administrative office, Professor Malcolm cautioned me that a number of Blood Servants will be dismissed in a few days. Some of them will be assigned to our farm—are their houses ready?"

"Of course, Your Honor,"

the young militia captain smiled and replied:

"The two ’gray buildings’ on the edge have been unoccupied. The Blood Servants can move in directly upon returning, and some of their families are also here with us. No need to worry about this aspect.

Before they were sent to fight, most of them were locals, so we can get along well with them.

Allow me to introduce myself—my name is Godhelm Jone Potman, Mr. Village Chief. My 30 brothers and I will be under your management from now on."

"Oh, I know you!"

Taipal smiled.
