Chapter 1034: 351. Eye of the Wolf God

The opening battle of the Transia Boxing Championship was so explosive that the "warm-up" provided by Governor Murphy and the Grey Vulture Knight seemed to have gone a little too far.

In a matter of minutes, the two had left the boxing ring, meticulously prepared by the Blood Rat Gang, in complete disarray, and without the manpower or resources to fix it on short notice, it had to be used as it was.

Fortunately, the nature of Transia People is bold and unconcerned with such trivial details; they actually felt that continuing to fight bravely on a battlefield where the strong had just clashed was a tribute to strength, so the remaining boxers became even more feverish.

As Murphy left the ring amid the cheers of his people and the children playing, the Boxing Championship officially began, but the audience was already satisfied.

The Transia People are rough and fierce, born with a hint of unruliness, but this also means that they respect the powerful. After witnessing Sir Morphy’s formidable prowess, those who had minor complaints about being ruled by Vampires had mostly entered a new phase of sincere admiration.

To make a name in a place with such fierce traditions is so straightforward and simple; to use the Freaks’ words, if you are strong and commanding enough, you can firmly plant your dignity in people’s hearts.

For the citizens, the only thing better than being ruled by a wise and benevolent Lord is being ruled by a Lord who is wise, benevolent, and also strong.

This is not just because of some obstinate nature of the Transia People, but also a basic necessity in the magic world.

In this continent where supernatural powers exist, being strong means living longer, and living longer is the only way to ensure the stable implementation of policies until they become a transferable set of rules. Thus, in this world, formidable individual strength is merely the basic prerequisite for becoming an excellent ruler.

If one cannot even protect oneself, how can one claim to protect thousands of citizens?

However, Murphy had no interest in pondering the emotional journey of his people at the moment. He had returned to the Blood Rat Gang’s base for a brief rest and locked himself in his room, ordering no one to disturb him.

This was not only because using Omega had left him aching and exhausted, but also because, upon coming to his senses, the Valande Knight had successfully handed over something entrusted by Avalon for Murphy.

Looking at the scattered specks of light in his hand, Murphy was a bit hesitant about checking out this "Divine Spirit’s Gift."

Even thinking with his heels, he knew the risks involved with this item.

After the re-establishment of the Avalon Church in Transia, in theory, the God of Nature had plenty of channels through which to communicate with Murphy, with the simplest being to "send a dream" to the current Church leaders and have them relay the message.

But Avalon had not chosen to do so.

Instead, He opted to exchange information through The Holy Grail of Woodland, a "low probability event," which revealed certain situations that were sufficient to make a deep thinker like Murphy speculate endlessly.

Murphy was certain that Avalon did not want this exchange of information to attract the attention of any other "Great Powers," which is why He chose to pass it through an intermediary.

Uh, the more you think about it, the more terrifying it becomes.

"I was really enjoying the boxing match, and your little players are quite remarkable. Bull Bull has already fought six consecutive victories... What’s that in your hand? Why do I feel a faint trace of divinity! Where did you find such a dangerous item? Throw it away! Such a venom that spares no pain even to the bowels and heart is not shy amongst us Vampires, the Unbelievers."

Cui Si barged in with considerable annoyance, no different from the disgruntled female office workers complaining about overtime as she had been looking forward to a "legitimate slack-off" opportunity, but now the Duke was forced back into business.

But when she saw the fragment of light suspended in Murphy’s palm, all her complaints vanished into thin air.

With a grave expression, Cui Si drew the Nocturne Wand and cast three layers of Spiritual Energy Art Systems around them to block any probing, then cautiously approached and knelt before Murphy, carefully observing the fragments of light in his hand.

"Avalon wants me to see something, and this is the true reason behind Valande Knight’s madness,"

Murphy explained with a headache as he massaged his temples:

"The God of Nature clearly does not want other people to notice this interaction, and that gives me a strong sense of unease."

"Are you hesitating about whether to look or not?"

Cui Si glanced at Murphy, who shook his head and replied:

"I’m definitely going to look, I’m just not sure if it will affect me in some way, so I asked you to come to ’protect me.’ If I show any signs of leaning toward the faith of the God of Nature, you must wake me up immediately. Although Avalon seems friendly, I can’t fully trust Him. He’s an entity from the Subspace, one that must be approached with caution."

"Do you realize that to me, what you are saying sounds like the delirious rants of a madman?"

Cui Si rolled her eyes and said:

"The way you talk about a Divine Spirit is as casual as you complain about the old men watching the door at the Blood Eagle Corridor. That’s a Star Giant, a deity, an entity that looks down upon all beings from the clouds. You should have some necessary respect. But since you’ve made up your mind, of course, I’ll do my utmost. If it’s just reviewing a message, the danger is not as great as you think."

The Blood Vulture Duke flexed her wrists and shoulders, adding:

"Go ahead, I’m watching."
