"I will submit your self-devised management method to Professor Malcolm. I believe he will applaud your wisdom and marvel at the fact that you truly learned something from those history lessons he taught you."
Morphy stood up and patted Maxim on the shoulder, saying in a deep voice:
"I have seen your progress, Mark, and if you keep up this momentum, you will soon be able to stand on your own. But there is one final issue...
Ritual!
The sense of ritual we’ve always been emphasizing."
The Vampire Lord pulled out a folded piece of paper from his chest and stuffed it into Maxim’s hand, saying:
"I have prepared it for you, just read from the script when the time comes."
Maxim glanced at the text on the paper.
He displayed a rather odd expression. Well, this must be considered one of Master Morphy’s little bad tastes.

Approaching midnight, at the temporary military camp outside of Bataxin City, the Beilao Soldiers responsible for escorting captives and prisoners withdrew ahead of time, immediately arousing the curiosity of the more than 6,500 people in the camp.
Many prisoners, after several attempts, felt that freedom was at hand and prepared to escape from the camp, hooting as they planned to pick up their old trades somewhere near Transia.
However, many others did not stir.
Especially those who had once belonged to the Blood Vulture Clan, the Armed Blood Servants, they displayed a stark contrast to the criminals. Even without guards anymore, these Blood Servants who had been sent back home from the harsh and cold lands of the Great Wilderness did not cause chaos.
They silently stayed in their temporary barracks, praying toward midnight and preparing to accept their fate.
Soon, the sounds of miserable screams rose up around the camp, accompanied by the booming gunfire of muskets at night, creating a horrifying atmosphere that sent shivers through the prisoners who hadn’t fled the camp at the first chance.
They finally knew that the departure of the Beilao did not mean the arrival of freedom!
The cunning Transia People had made their preparations in advance, and the merciless killings taking place in the night were just the first step in a show of force.
But contrary to their expectations, not all the prisoners who had left the camp of their own accord were killed.
Only a very few actually perished.
The rest were driven back into the camp under the covert hunting of vampires and the bullet pressure of the seasoned veterans of the People’s Army. The terrified lot gathered together and shortly after, a Psychic hung a blinding sphere of light high in the night sky.
Under the watchful and frightened gaze of the prisoners, Maxim, clad in heavy armor and carrying several heads, appeared before them against the backdrop of a hundred rugged veterans lined up in a row.
"Article 13 of the Cadman People’s Army wartime management regulations: any Soldier who leaves the camp without permission from superiors will be considered a deserter! As for deserters, Transia has always shown no mercy!"
The low voice of Maxim echoed in the night, the sight of the dripping blood from the heads in his hands added a daunting pressure.
And this commotion caused many of the Beilao prisoners hiding in the barracks to peek out, all very concerned about how they would be treated on this foreign land.
Most of these prisoners fit well with Maxim’s perception of criminals, exuding an unpleasant aura that one would not want to be close to. However, the Vampire’s keen senses made him notice that among those who stealthily observed, there were indeed a few with rather obscure auras.
Even a few could make him feel a prickle-like pressure.
"Master Morphy was right! There are indeed big fish hiding among these scoundrels."
Mark narrowed his eyes, but he did not pay attention to those spying gazes, instead, he continued to announce loudly:
"My name is Maxim! I am the Baron Lim of the Governor’s District of Transia and the highest Commander of the Cadman People’s Army. I will be responsible for receiving and managing you all from now on. Please understand, this means that from this moment on, your lives are in my hands!
Therefore, I hope that you will give me the respect I am due and listen patiently to what I am about to tell you.
As part of the Nordtoff Kingdom’s aid agreement in preparation for the war with Transia, you will all be dispatched to the Polluted Swamp to work on wartime fortifications as basic laborers.
According to the terms currently set by the Crimson Castle Administrative Office, each of you will need to accumulate 5,000 labor points before you can be pardoned and gain freedom.
You need not worry about what 5,000 labor points mean for you. You will naturally have someone explain it to you after you reach the work site.
I am here to announce another message that is closely related to the fate of you scum!
You’d better all listen carefully!"
Maxim said, emphasizing his voice:
"I came here tonight with blood and death to convey to you scum the sole concept, that the Governor’s District of Transia will open its arms to all those capable and valuable.
We don’t care who you were in the past; we only care who you want to become in the future!
The ground beneath your feet represents both death and rebirth, both an end and a beginning; the only difference is how you want to spend your meaningless remaining life.
Whether it’s wealth, power, status, or respect from others, whatever you scum want, you can find it in Transia.
Governor Morphy has placed all these things you chase and desire in a place called the ’Combat Club.’ As long as you can reach there with your own fists, you can cut ties with your past failed lives.
But be prepared...
The weak and the cowards do not live long on this land!
That’s all!
I have no interest in saying more to you. Now go back to your barracks, and at dawn, someone will lead you to where you should go.
Of course, you can also try to run."
Maxim paused, then spoke in a louder voice, almost loud enough to be heard by everyone in the entire camp:
"Provided you think you’re lucky enough to escape from the Blood Vulture Clan’s territory! Go ahead and try, you pathetic insects, I would very much enjoy playing this ’lose-and-you-die’ game with you."
Ps: Thank you to brother "Who Else Wants to Compete With Me" for the Alliance Hierarch reward. I currently owe 20 Chapters but should be able to deal with it next month. Also, I’m seeking a Monthly Ticket - if we reach 20,000 tickets this month, there will be a bonus of ten Chapters next month.
