Chapter 504: Chapter 503 Shao Zifeng’s ’Enemy for Life

Su City University.

Xiang Nan stood at the school gate dragging his suitcase, his face turning sour as he looked at the small and dilapidated university before him.

Passing students cast curious glances his way. Xiang Nan proudly lifted his chin ever so slightly, but inside, he was nearly dying of regret. He couldn’t fathom what had possessed him to actually come to such a god-forsaken place.

The sky had darkened, peppered with a few bright stars. The stream of students at Su City University had thinned, and the ’First Sight’ café’s neon sign flickered in the distance, occasionally illuminating couples whispering sweet nothings to each other.

Xiang Nan snorted, exuding a single’s resentment, feeling inexplicably irritable.

"Why hasn’t he come yet?"

He glanced at the time again, his face etched with impatience.

"Are you Xiang Nan, senior?"

Just then, a soft, tender voice sounded from behind him, like a gentle breeze calming his restless heart.

Xiang Nan hurriedly turned around, only to see a somewhat anxious-looking girl standing there.

The girl had a delicate appearance and was tall, her skin fair and smooth under the dim light. A tender green cloth hairpin adorned her left ear, her sleek hair tucked behind it, while the hair on the other side fell naturally over her shoulder. Although not striking, her natural warmth radiated a girl-next-door charisma, making her quite comforting to look at.

Xiang Nan was momentarily stunned but quickly resumed his haughty demeanor.

He looked at the girl askance: "Did Shao Zifeng send you?"

The girl didn’t answer his question but held an A4 paper in her hand.

She looked down at the paper, then up at Xiang Nan’s face, her pretty brows furrowing in a troubled expression.

Xiang Nan felt annoyed being stared at and snatched the sketch from the girl’s hand: "What are you looking at?"

"I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry." The bewildered girl seemed frightened by him, her eyes pleading with Xiang Nan: "Can you give the sketch back to me, please? I still need to find senior Xiang Nan."

At her words, Xiang Nan glanced at the blank paper, his expression freezing for a moment.

It was a drawing of him; although it was just a few strokes, both his features and essence were captured perfectly.

"I am Xiang Nan." Xiang Nan felt that perhaps he had been too harsh, his expression softening as he pointed at the sketch and asked, "So, what is this about?"

"It really is senior Xiang!" The girl first looked delighted, then muttered with a smug expression: "Great, I’ve finally found you, hehe, now let’s see if the captain will still call me stupid..."

Watching the girl muttering to herself, Xiang Nan felt utterly perplexed.

Is this it?

Someone this clueless made it onto Su City University’s team?

How bad can Su City University be?

After taking a deep breath, Xiang Nan forced a smile: "Classmate, this drawing is?"

"Ah, senior Xiang, sorry for spacing out again." The girl tapped her forehead in frustration: "This drawing is something the captain gave me. Ever since he came back, he’s been constantly looking at it, saying it represents his..."

"Lifelong rival?"

Xiang Nan’s heart skipped a beat, his breathing becoming slightly urgent.

The girl’s eyes brightened as she nodded vigorously: "Yes, yes, yes, that’s exactly what the captain said. It’s all my fault for being so dense, senior Xiang understands so much more, teehee."

A lifelong rival.

A lifelong rival indeed!

Xiang Nan gripped the drawing paper a bit tighter, the corners of his mouth uncontrollably curling up with suppressed excitement and anticipation.

Indeed, he must hold quite some weight in his heart.

He had thought him to be an old codger, but it turns out he was just reserved.

With that thought, Xiang Nan looked at the confused girl in front of him.

In his mind, he couldn’t help but picture Shao Zifeng.

Dealing with this kind of teammate every day.

He must have had a hard time.

But even so, he still secured a spot in the national competition.

Xiang Nan’s breathing was a bit rapid, all his previous dissatisfaction had vanished, replaced by ambition and aspiration to face the challenges of the future.

He must help him go further!

"Senior Xiang," the girl waved her hand in front of Xiang Nan and said, "The captain values this painting a lot, don’t damage it."

Xiang Nan came back to his senses and looked at the creases he had made on the painting, his expression growing softer by the moment.

My friend, there must have been a time when you looked at this painting just like I am now!

After rolling up the sketch, Xiang Nan said to the girl in a tone he had never used before, "Take me to see our training room."

"Wow, Senior Xiang really is from Su City University."

"Yes."

"That’s so amazing~ To think that you’ve come all this way on your own at such a young age. I’ve never even left our city in my entire life..."

Seeing the girl’s downtrodden expression, Xiang Nan smiled slightly, "You’ll have a chance, you also need to work hard."

"Mhm!" The girl clenched her little fists, "I definitely won’t let you down, senior."

"Senior, your pet beast must be outstanding as well, unlike ours which are just very ordinary."

Along the way, Xiang Nan felt somewhat elated amidst the girl’s soft and tender voice, his stride growing lighter and more buoyant.

After about ten minutes of walking, the girl pointed at a building not too far off with a joyful expression and said, "Senior Xiang, we’re here."

Xiang Nan looked at the abandoned warehouse the girl was pointing at, feeling a twitch in his facial muscles.

Although he had been prepared, he still couldn’t help but ask, "This is your training ground?"

"Yes," the girl blinked, her voice pitiful, "We’re poor, and we only got this place after qualifying for the national competition."

So that was it.

Before they qualified for the national competition, they didn’t even have their own training ground.

Xiang Nan remained silent for a moment.

An image formed in his mind.

In a rugged training ground, a handsome young man trained continuously under the blazing sun.

Sweat flowed down his cheeks, soaking his jacket, but it could not dampen his resolute expression.

What kind of character was this!

Xiang Nan’s hand holding the scroll trembled ever so slightly, as he secretly made up his mind.

He would not let him down.

Just like he told himself, they would stand together on the highest podium.

At that moment, the rust-covered gate before him seemed to vanish, and instead, there stood a threshold on his path to becoming stronger. Once pushed open, it would lead to a stage bathed in light.

Xiang Nan took a deep breath and forcefully pushed the rust-streaked gate open.

Screech—

A grating, teeth-clenching sound of friction filled the air, and clumps of dirt fell from above.

The envisioned flood of dazzling lights did not appear; the whole abandoned warehouse was pitch black.

"Cough, cough... Damn it..."

Xiang Nan quickly covered his mouth and nose, just about to step back when the ground under his feet suddenly gave way.

Whoosh, whoosh!

Two tendrils wrapped around his legs like serpents, binding him tightly.

The tendrils flung his body into the air with a jerk, and Xiang Nan was swallowed by the darkness.

(PS: Um, and a vote from the boss with tickets would be nice.)
