My Love Debts Are Everywhere! -
Chapter 719 - 719: The Punishment of Going Against Fate - Part 2
A white-haired, middle-aged man stood beside Leon, gazing at him with a helpless expression.
Had Leon opened his eyes and seen who it was, shock would've hit him like lightning. "Old Man Nolan? What are you doing here?"
But Leon was completely unconscious—unable to see or respond.
The man let out a quiet sigh, crouched down, and placed his palm on Leon's forehead.
After a brief examination, he gave a slight nod and whispered, "He's still alive, but his life force has been severely depleted. At this rate, he'll be dead in a few hours."
Just then, a woman's voice echoed in his mind.
"In that case, what will you do? Are you planning to save him?"
The man let out a soft chuckle. "Of course. How else is he supposed to defeat the Evil God? The fate of this world rests on his shoulders, doesn't it?"
"But…" the voice sounded uncertain. "Wouldn't that mean you're interfering with this timeline? Aren't you afraid it might push the world in an unintended direction? If that happens, won't your entire plan fall apart?"
The middle-aged man fell silent, staring at Leon's pale face, his eyes hidden behind a white blindfold.
"To be honest, the timeline of this world has changed drastically ever since I arrived in this era," he said flatly. "The future is no longer predictable, and even I can't say for certain whether my carefully laid plans will work. But there's one thing I do know..."
A faint smile touched his lips as he continued, "I believe in Leon Kruger. This time, he won't fail like before—he'll succeed. That's not just wishful thinking... it's a firm premonition."
The woman's voice went quiet for a moment. Then, after a long sigh, she spoke again.
"Very well. I won't interfere, Master. If you intend to save him, do it now—his life force is nearly gone, and he won't last much longer."
The middle-aged man gave a slow nod. He placed his right palm on Leon's forehead and whispered, "Heal."
*Whoosh!*
A surge of gray light burst from his palm, spreading rapidly and enveloping Leon's entire body.
The process was brief. Within ten seconds, Leon's stiff body began to loosen.
His pale face regained some color, and the blood that had stained the corners of his eyes vanished.
The man pulled his hand back and gave a satisfied nod.
"Done," he muttered, rising to his feet.
"Done? But… his eyes don't seem to have healed," the voice said doubtfully.
"Pfft!" The man let out a soft chuckle. "That was intentional. It's fine to leave him blind for a while, isn't it?"
"You really are cruel, Master," the voice sighed.
"You're slandering me," the man said, raising both hands in mock innocence. "There's a reason for this. Leon constantly underestimated his limits and pushed his body without hesitation. If he keeps going like that, it's not impossible he'll end up dying over and over again. Consider this a lesson, something to make him pause and think before acting recklessly."
His words were sincere, spoken from the heart. He wasn't the type to cruelly rob Leon of his sight without reason.
But because he knew Leon better than anyone else, he understood this much—Leon needed to be taught a lesson, or he'd never stop acting recklessly.
After all, his actions this time had gone too far. He had dared to challenge fate—and in return, fate struck back, nearly costing him his life.
"Yes, yes, I believe you," the voice said with a careless tone, betraying its lack of sincerity.
The middle-aged man simply smiled and gave a slight shake of his head.
He moved his index finger from side to side. In an instant, a translucent gray barrier formed, enveloping Leon's body.
"I'm giving him protection. He'll be safe for a while—until he wakes up or someone comes to help him."
As he finished speaking, his figure slowly faded into fragments of light, carried away by the sea breeze.
*Whoosh!*
A strong gust swept in from the sea, powerful enough to scatter the sand around Leon's body.
And yet, strangely, not a single strand of his hair moved.
Then, footsteps approached from behind—followed by a young woman's startled voice.
"Someone...? Why is there someone here?"
...
Inside the spacious conference room, Malverna, Astra, Zelda, the Fairy Queen, the Three Elders, Athena, and the Dragon Ancestor stood around a large round wooden table.
Their expressions were grim, heavier than anything seen before.
And it was only natural, considering a major event had just shaken the world: the news of Leon's death.
Confirmed or not, the news was terrifying enough to shake them to the core.
Malverna took a deep breath, then swept her sharp gaze across the room.
"I'm sure you've all heard the news. So tell me—how should we respond?"
Silence fell over the room. No one spoke right away.
Finally, the Dragon Ancestor straightened and met Malverna's eyes, a complicated look on his face.
"If the news is true—if the Hydra is still alive—then I'd say there's an eighty percent chance the Fated One has been overwhelmed… or even killed."
His words landed like a hammer blow. But before anyone could react, he continued, "Of course, that's assuming the Hydra in question is the same one Amon Crimson and the Dwarf King once slew. If it isn't… then the situation may be very different from what we assume."
Astra looked slightly stunned. Her voice held a note of doubt as she asked, "So you're saying… the Hydra that appeared might be its descendant? Not the Evil God's old mount?"
"Yes, I believe so," the Dragon Ancestor said with a slow nod. "What you need to understand is that the Hydra's death is certain—beyond any doubt. I asked Amon Crimson myself, and he confirmed it. He even made sure the creature was truly dead. Knowing Amon's cautious and resolute nature, I trust his word completely."
Malverna and Astra nodded in agreement. If anyone knew Amon Crimson best, it was them.
After all, they were his wives—the ones closest to him, both physically and emotionally.
"Even so, Leon's condition takes priority," Athena said in a somber tone. "We've lost contact with him. We can't sense his presence, let alone confirm whether he's alive. So our main focus now should be finding him."
Everyone in the room nodded in agreement.
They began discussing various possibilities and strategies to locate and rescue Leon.
Coincidentally, the Dwarven race was in the midst of a large-scale migration from Mount Durnhak. Their movement could be traced using a map that tracked migration routes across the surrounding mountains.
The discussion went on for hours and eventually led to a decision that satisfied everyone involved.
