Chapter 32: Chapter 13 Luxurious Buddha Jumps Over the Wall (Part 2)_2
Du Xixi glanced at him a few more times, the more she thought about it, the more she felt that this was the reason.
Seeing Du Xixi nod in agreement, Chen Yin walked out on his own, leaving the kitchen for Du Xixi to showcase her skills, of course also leaving Rob behind to help.
If Chen Yin knew what Du Xixi was thinking, he would definitely refute it with righteous words. He wasn’t the type to hold grudges like that, he was just thinking of winning over... cough, gaining the officials’ approval, naturally needing to bring out cuisine of the highest caliber.
Although Chen Yin had never tasted Buddha Jumps Over the Wall, whether it was out of trust in Du Xixi’s culinary skills or the rich aroma that lingered in his memory, he felt that Buddha Jumps Over the Wall was definitely up to the mark!

Buddha Jumps Over the Wall, also known as Fragrant Pot, All Blessings Complete. Some say it was invented by a restaurant owner, others say it was invented by a group of beggars. But regardless of its inventor, it cannot hide its tender and rich meaty fragrance.
Buddha Jumps Over the Wall usually combines abalone, sea cucumber, fish lips, yak skin gelatin, king oyster mushrooms, tendons, flower mushrooms, cuttlefish, dried scallops, quail eggs, and more, simmered with broth and Shaoxing wine over low heat.
Originally, Du Xixi intended to make an authentic Buddha Jumps Over the Wall for Chen Yin in celebration of their reunion after a long time apart, but upon looking at the ingredients he had prepared, her veins started to pop as she reconsidered the necessary ingredients for the dish.
It was apparent that back then, Chen Yin hadn’t seriously watched her cook Buddha Jumps Over the Wall; apart from a few fairly common ingredients, he was missing essentials like sea cucumber, fish lips, cuttlefish, and dried scallops. It was as if he intended to make a budget version of Buddha Jumps Over the Wall instead of the deluxe version!
"Miss?"
Du Xixi gently shook her head, trying to calm herself down, as her hands quickly picked out the necessary ingredients from the selection — abalone, prawns, clams, wood ear fungus, king oyster mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, vermicelli... fre ewebno(v)e\l.(c)om
Midway through picking, Du Xixi picked up a jug of liquid resembling rice wine, carefully sniffed it, and found the aroma to be quite authentic, reminiscent of Shaoxing rice wine.
Du Xixi soaked the wood ear fungus and vermicelli in warm water, waiting for one to swell and the other to soften while she turned her attention to cleaning the abalone and scallops, scrubbing them thoroughly to remove any entrails.
After soaking the clams in saltwater to purge sand, Du Xixi sliced the king oyster mushrooms and scored a cross on the caps of the shiitake mushrooms...
Rob, standing nearby, wasn’t idle either. He helped Du Xixi fetch and carry items, ensuring she didn’t tire herself out, while also following her instructions to blanch small pieces of chicken in cold water until cooked.
While Du Xixi and Rob were busy in the kitchen, Chen Yin, who had gone back to handle some affairs, unexpectedly encountered Ke Lian, whom he thought would not return until the next day.
Ke Lian had a cold look in his eyes, with varying degrees of wounds on his body and face, some having scabbed over, while others still oozing blood.
"You’re having such a rough day?" Chen Yin laughed, visibly pleased. Ke Lian always had the upper hand, and although Chen Yin wasn’t jealous, he was very mindful of it. Now with Ke Lian not only holding an advantage over him but also having taken Du Xixi away, the more Chen Yin looked, the less he liked him.
Ke Lian slightly lowered his head, having apparently grown accustomed to the sarcastic remarks from Your Majesty, standing there with an impassive expression: "Your Majesty, I’ve already sent the casualty report and the military losses to you, so if there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave."
Ke Lian rushed back not for any particular reason, just worried about Du Xixi’s health. Though Mo Ying was with her, he was still concerned, eager to return home to see him.
Before, Chen Yin would let Ke Lian go after such words, but today was different. He smiled mischievously and stood up, putting an arm around Ke Lian’s shoulder in a brotherly way, leading him outside.
"Your Majesty, I’m in a hurry to get home."
"What’s the rush, I’ll take you to eat something delicious!"
Although Chen Yin wanted to tease Ke Lian about the baseless rumors concerning himself and Du Xixi, Du Xixi was not pleased about it, so he dropped the idea. However, he had other ways to tease Ke Lian, so he kept insisting on pulling Ke Lian to the kitchen.
Ke Lian couldn’t go against Your Majesty’s wishes, and after a futile struggle, he had to patiently accompany him, though his face showed great displeasure. Based on past experiences, he feared that Your Majesty would find another way to hassle him.
Once they reached outside the kitchen, the aroma was already wafting out, but the door and windows were tightly closed, making it impossible to know who was cooking inside.
