My Hitman System -
Chapter 190 - 190: Reaching Rupiya (E)
"How's the progress going?" Jin asked Ice who was immersed in going over a book.
"Huh?" Ice raised her head to look towards Jin and frowned. "Where are you going?"
At that moment, it hit her and she suddenly asked with raised brows, "...you're leaving the academy?'
Jin chuckled and answered, "No, not yet. I still have to defeat Brown in CQC before that happens.
I'm just going out for a while for some business. I'll be back in a week or so."
"Ah, I see…but where exactly are you going?" Ice asked.
"It's a harbour named Rupiya. It should be around four hundred kilometres from here," Jin answered.
"It's so far! How are you planning to go?" Ice asked with widened eyes.
"I talked with Brown about it and he said that he'll drop me to the highway, which is ten kilometres from here. I just need to hitch a ride from there," Jin explained and said with a wave, "I'll be going then. Tell the others about it from my side."
"You're leaving already? Why not go after lunch?" Ice asked.
"The earlier I go, the sooner I'll return. See you then," Jin said with a smirk and turned around.
In front of the hut, Brown was leaning on his SUV and waiting for Jin to come.
"I'm done," Jin told Brown while approaching him.
"Alright," Brown got in and started the ignition. The SUV roared and soon rushed in the southern direction.
Throughout the journey, no words were exchanged, and Brown soon stopped the car when the highway was near.
"I don't know why you are going to Rupiya, but keep two things in mind. First, don't meddle with the Scorpion Gang. Second, if you have no choice but to meddle with them, leave no witnesses."
Brown stated seriously.
"Got it. Thanks," Jin said gratefully and exited the vehicle.
He looked towards Brown and nodded.
"Don't die," Brown nodded back and stepped on the gas the next moment, and a huge cloud of dust engulfed Jin.
Cough! Cough!
Cough! Cough!
"T-That bastard! Just say that you want to kill me instead!" Jin exclaimed with anger as tears streamed down his face.
It was only a few minutes later that he calmed down.
After wiping the dirt off his face, Jin muttered, "At least, that grumpy bastard was big-hearted enough to tell me about that gang."
There was a highway in front of him, but there wasn't any traffic.
Only occasionally would any vehicle go by this route since not many people in this country possessed cars.
He proceeded towards the highway and started walking by its side towards his destination.
Half an hour passed and the sun's rays had intensified.
However, Jin was least affected by it.
He, along with his teammates, had been running in this intense heat while being dosed with poison in their first month here.
It was obvious that he won't be affected by something so trivial.
Suddenly, the familiar voice of an engine rang in Jin's ears, and he turned back the next moment.
There was a truck incoming.
"Looks like my luck's quite good today," Jin thought and held out his arm towards the road, extending his thumbs up.
The truck driver stopped the truck and asked, "Where to?"
"Just to the next town," Jin approached the window and said.
"Hop in then, mate," the truck driver gestured for Jin to come in with a smirk.
"Thanks!" Jin went around the front and got in from the other side.
"Thanks, man. If not for you, I would be basking in this intense heat for another few hours."
"Haha, no problem. Why didn't you just take a bus from the previous city? You wouldn't need to suffer this much then,," the driver asked as he stepped on the accelerator.
"I wanted to experience hitching a ride. I've never done it before, and since this is my first time in this country, I wanted to use this opportunity to try it. ' Jin said while feigning an excited expression.
"...you foreigners really have strange interests." The driver looked at Jin weirdly and asked, "So where are you from?"
"I'm from Valeyria," Jin answered.
"Ah, that's a nice place, unlike here. After all that unification thing, things have been quite chaotic here," the driver sighed.
"Well, it will eventually get better now that the country's united," Jin muttered.
"Haha, yes, earlier this road was very restricted and barely any trade happened. At least my kids would have a better future," the man said and asked, "What about you? Do you have any kids?"
"No, I'm still looking for someone," Jin chuckled in an embarrassed manner.
"You seem to be old enough, so hurry up. It would be pretty stressful to take care of young ones when you are in your forties," the driver advised Jin.
Since Jin had William's appearance right now, the driver had mistaken him to be in his mid-thirties.
"Haha, I sure will," Jin nodded.
Throughout the journey, a casual exchange continued and the two became more familiar with each other.
An hour and a half later.
Germick Town
"Thank you, Timmy." Jin waved his hand towards the driver.
"Enjoy your stay here,* Timmy too waved back at him gratefully. Despite his refusal, Jin had given him some money to show his sincerity.
Timmy soon left for the next town, which was his destination.
Jin then grabbed a meal from a small restaurant and reached the bus stand to book a ticket.
It was two in the afternoon right now, and his bus was to leave in an hour.
He waited for his bus to come under a shade and finally hopped on it when it arrived.
A five-hour-long journey began.
To pass his time, all Jin could do was look at the moving scenery outside the window.
By the time it was eight in the evening and the temperature had gone down, the bus had reached Rupiya.
Jin soon got down and settled in a nearby hotel to freshen up and rest.
