Chapter 95: Chapter 95 Keep Giggling!

The brother’s diagnostic report mentioned a passage where the child had personally witnessed his father murdering someone in the bedroom and saw his father dispose of the body in the bathroom, before finally hiding the corpse in the kitchen refrigerator.

The three places mentioned in the report correspond to the younger brother’s bedroom, the bathroom where the hair ghost resides, and the refrigerator hiding the headless body.

The younger brother’s bedroom, filled with the highest number of ghosts and monsters, was the most dangerous; probably, the brother’s subconscious was still affected by the memory of their father committing murder in the bedroom, making it the origin of danger and disaster for him.

The incessantly emerging hair in the bathroom might have been another scene the then-young brother witnessed, the father processing the body with strands of hair floating on the bloodied water.

The idea that the kitchen refrigerator, once used by the father to hide a corpse, could be re-imagined by the brother as chunks of flesh reassembling into a person, also made sense.

The internal logic wasn’t complex; Han Fei knew this place was woven out of the Manager’s memories, and he could now be sure that the Manager was the comatose and sleeping brother.

"The mission requires me to save all the living people, and since the Manager is currently alive, that means I also need to ensure he isn’t killed."

It was Han Fei’s first time undertaking a Manager task; he had to explore many things on his own.

"The bedroom is the scene of the murder, the bathroom is where the corpse was processed, and the kitchen refrigerator is where the bodies were hidden. In the brother’s subconscious, the bedroom is a den of fierce ghosts and monsters, the bathroom could dispose of them, and the refrigerator in the kitchen could imprison them."

Once the headless body in the refrigerator was digested by the black hair, Han Fei picked up the ashtray from the living room and smashed it against the mirror again.

"I can’t shatter it completely, I can only break the corners, to slow its recovery."

As the woman in the mirror screamed, Han Fei dragged the refrigerator out of the bathroom and placed it at the bedroom door.

"That scar-faced child is the younger brother, according to the diagnostic report; it’s very likely he harbors an extremely terrifying ghost."

Han Fei didn’t dare to act rashly, nor did he dare stay in the house for too long, as it seemed to be changing every moment, with potentially more terrifying monsters appearing at any time.

Holding a kitchen knife, Han Fei pushed open the door of the secondary bedroom.

Drawing on previous experience, he dodged to the side the instant the door opened.

Two long arms reached out from the shadow behind the door, but they grabbed at nothing.

Han Fei had been killed by those slender arms once before, and resentment made his blood boil. He grabbed the kitchen knife and hacked at his adversary.

"You may kill me once, but from now on, every time I come in, I’ll kill you once!"

The kitchen knife, often used by the woman to chop meat, was stained with blood, which carried a certain malevolence.

The kitchen knife easily sliced into the slender arm; Han Fei didn’t cut it off but instead grabbed the handle, trying to drag his assailant out from behind the door.

As he struggled with the arm, the child sitting amid the toys heard the noise. The scarred face turned towards Han Fei, and it broke into tears instantly.

The piercing cries filled the house; thudding sounds came from the master bedroom, and the mother tied to the bedside seemed to have gone mad.

"It seems in the Manager’s memory, that mother would do anything for her child."

The mother tied to the bed appeared to have broken free from her ropes; she was frantically slamming against the door of the master bedroom.

"The mother wants to protect her child. If I simply take the kid out of the secondary bedroom and bring him to her, she probably won’t fixate on killing me."

Changing his plan on the fly, Han Fei pulled the knife out, severing the arm behind the door, and rushed into the room: "Give me your hand!"

He was prepared to drag the disfigured child out of the bedroom, but what he didn’t expect was that just as his hand reached out towards the child.

The child, who had been wailing loudly, suddenly revealed a sinister smile on his face. From the pile of toys, he pulled out a knife and plunged it directly into Han Fei’s palm.

"Heehee."

Sharp nails grasped Han Fei’s arm, and the child climbed onto Han Fei’s shoulder, driving the sharp nails into Han Fei’s neck.

His vision began to blur, and Han Fei knew he was doomed. He used the last bit of his life to crash into the wardrobe.

The door swung open, and a bloodstained garment, as if alive, hid in the corner of the closet, emitting a pungent stench.

As his body hit the ground, Han Fei glanced under the bed in the last moment of consciousness.

There was another child hiding under the bed, his face also disfigured. He looked exactly like the child from the pile of toys outside.

My brother is hiding under the bed? The brother outside, is he a transformed ghost?

...

"Twelfth time!"

Shattering the picture frame, Han Fei recorded the number of deaths on his arm, carefully considering each step of the mission.

"The real brother is hiding under the bed. If I don’t want to drive mother insane, the best method is to save him first."

Twelve deaths brought Han Fei profound pain and subtly affected him.

"The system reminded me that with each death, I would lose memory, but what exactly have I lost?"

"There doesn’t seem to be any significant loss in my main memories. My name is Han Fei, I am an actor, and I am carrying out a Manager task in the Perfect Life Deep World. My memories within the game haven’t disappeared, Xu Qin, Meng Shi, Cry, I remember all these. As for reality... I don’t really have friends or family in real life."

Han Fei didn’t remember anyone he knew in reality, the only slight memory he had was of a policeman: "I had contact with the police some time ago due to the Human-body Puzzle case, but it was just that, nothing more, I’m not close with them."

At this point, Han Fei paused, "It seems a police officer helped me once?"

Rubbing his temples, Han Fei felt something was off. He held a piece of glass and began to record more critical information onto his body.

The five minutes quickly elapsed, and by the time the girl’s severed head ran out of the room, Han Fei was already lifting the brazier in advance.

He was like a machine programmed with a set routine, executing each step with precision.

After dealing with the body in the refrigerator in the same manner, Han Fei dragged the fridge to the bedroom door. He knew that the child in the room would cry upon seeing him, so this time he prepared to lure the other out.

"That little bastard seems to like toys a lot."

He found some doll models under the living room TV. Han Fei placed the models at the bedroom door and then opened it.

Before long, the disfigured-faced child walked out of the room with some suspicion. After picking up the models, he noticed Han Fei hiding in the shadows.

The Little Ghost was scared into crying and had no chance to dodge. Han Fei swung his knife down at him.

"Heehee? Keep laughing, heehee!"

After being injured, the Little Ghost’s body became ethereal, and its speed surged. It began to cry and scream frantically.
