My ‘Healing’ Game -
Chapter 94 Dangerous Game
Chapter 94: Chapter 94 Dangerous Game
"Mother is the oldest and most experienced in the family, and even in this room full of ghosts, if she heard a child’s cry, she would still run out to check. It seems she’s relatively normal, at least she still tries to protect her family."
"The disfigured child starts to cry and make a fuss when it sees me, and there’s a portrait of me at the front door of the house. I should be a ghost now; it seems normal for children to cry and fuss when they see ghosts."
"Finally, there’s this boy, he’s in a hospital gown and his freedom is restricted. It seems he’s seriously ill. In the eyes of his family, he must be the most abnormal."
Things aren’t always what they seem on the surface; the most abnormal person in some special circumstances might actually be the most normal, just like the situation right now.
The door to the main bedroom was chopped with a kitchen knife. Han Fei quickly approached the boy, "Can you hear my voice?"
He shook the boy’s body vigorously and gave him a slap, but seeing that none of this managed to wake him up, he had to give up.
"Medication is scattered beside the bed; there are remains of food and traces of blood on the floor. A fight seems to have occurred in this room."
As his gaze swept over the room, Han Fei also found the medical record, discharge certificate, and clothes for changing on the desk.
"The Second Mental Health Center?"
"The patient often feels anxious and distressed for no reason, occasionally experiencing hallucinations and auditory illusions. Repeated psychological counseling has not improved his condition."
As he looked through the diagnosis report, Han Fei found he had finally discovered what he was looking for.
"As a child, the patient suffered abuse from his father and was always protected by his mother. He then witnessed his father killing a mother and her daughter in the bedroom and saw him dealing with the bodies in the bathroom before hiding them in the kitchen freezer."
"Since then, he started to have hallucinations, believing that ghosts and souls exist in the world."
"After the death of his parents, his condition worsened. While he lived with his stepmother, he engaged in dangerous behaviors on several occasions."
"The patient claims he can see the ghosts of his parents as well as other ghosts hiding in the house, insisting that an Evil Ghost is possessing his half-brother from his father’s side."
"In the patient’s own account, the brother always attracts Dead Souls and passing Ghost and Monsters, being the source of all misfortune."
"His unusual actions were all in an attempt to drive out the ghosts in the house. He believed that by killing or driving away all the Ghost and Monsters, the Evil Ghost hidden inside his stepbrother would appear and that he had to kill the true Evil Ghost to end his miserable life."
"The patient’s subconscious was making excuses for his odd behavior. He said there were ghosts in the mirrors he smashed; he imagined that the hunks of meat hidden in the freezer would ’Resurrect’ at night. All his abnormalities had their own reasoning; we suspect the root cause is the patient’s constant hallucinations and repression..."
The latter part of the report was crucial as it might have described how the brother had killed the ghosts in the house. If the report were still intact, Han Fei would have been able to use it to complete his task. Unfortunately, the latter part of the medical record was torn off.
However, having read this far, Han Fei had a rough idea: "First kill the ordinary ghosts in the house, then the Evil Ghost inside the stepbrother."
At the cost of dying ten times, Han Fei figured out the main storyline of the task.
The wooden bedroom door had been hacked open with a kitchen knife, and the mother, wearing an apron covered in bloodstains, brandished the knife and rushed over hysterically.
Han Fei grabbed a chair from the room to defend himself, intentionally jumping onto the double bed.
The crazed mother didn’t attack the brother; she only targeted Han Fei. But when the girl head saw the boy lying unconscious on the bed, she immediately gave up on Han Fei and began to tear at the brother.
"Mother and stepbrother will attack me first, and the Ghost and Monsters in the house will go after the brother on the hospital bed?"
This discovery exhilarated Han Fei as he was worried he couldn’t get rid of the girl head.
"Your son is being bullied by a house full of ghosts and you don’t care? You just have to come after me?"
Han Fei used the chair to push the woman away and grabbed the kitchen knife.
He cut the ropes and restraints that bound his stepbrother. While cutting, the woman jumped onto his back and began biting him fiercely.
With skin torn and flesh displayed, Han Fei didn’t utter a word. He took the restraints and tied the woman’s hands, bearing the pain as he secured her to the bedpost.
Picking up the remaining rope and kitchen knife, Han Fei rushed out of the living room. By now, the black hair that had sprung from the tap had already made its way out of the bathroom, beginning to spread across the floor.
Han Fei carefully avoided the black hair, pushed open the bedroom door, and approached the refrigerator.
Before opening the refrigerator door, he used the rope to tie it shut.
"If there weren’t a haunting in the house, doing all this might indeed get me deemed insane," he muttered.
After securing the refrigerator, Han Fei locked the kitchen door and began looking for useful items in the kitchen.
It had been only about five minutes when screams from children and women could be heard from the living room. Peering through the crack of the door with the kitchen knife in hand, Han Fei saw that the entire Room 1091 had been filled with black hair.
Both humans and ghosts were submerged, and those black hairs also discovered Han Fei hiding in the kitchen. Countless strands of hair entered through the gap at the bottom of the door, winding around his body.
...
Opening his eyes, Han Fei picked up the photo frame and smashed it to the ground. He used the shards to carve a bloody mark and his name: "The eleventh time!"
"The hair in the bathroom needs to be dealt with as soon as possible. It kills both humans and ghosts indiscriminately; if left alone, it will fill the entire room in ten minutes."
Having carefully planned every move, Han Fei pushed open the door of Room 1091.
Using a basin to block the girl’s head, Han Fei hid by the kitchen door and snatched the woman’s keys, then entered the master bedroom.
He already knew what was in the master bedroom and this time he changed the plan.
Using the master bedroom door to separate the girl’s head from the mother, he lured the mother into the room alone and then seized her kitchen knife.
He cut the ropes and restraint straps off his brother, tied up the mother beside the bed, then took the remaining restraint straps and opened the master bedroom door.
Luring the girl’s head to the kitchen, Han Fei had already realized the girl’s head belonged to the headless corpse in the refrigerator.
He approached the refrigerator, dodging when the head attacked him.
Waiting for the refrigerator door to open and the headless corpse to nearly emerge, Han Fei pressed the head down with a fire basin full of paper money ashes and shut the girl’s head in the refrigerator as well.
The next step was critical; he pressed hard against the refrigerator, gnashing his teeth as he picked up the rope and bound the appliance tightly.
"The task is based on the Manager’s memory. To complete the task, I must follow the rules from the Manager’s memory," he deduced.
"He’s a child with a psychological defect, and what is normal for the world probably seems so absurd to him," Han Fei pondered.
Wiping the blood from his hands, Han Fei didn’t linger. After overcoming the girl’s head, he immediately entered the bathroom.
"The brother’s medical report mentioned that he once smashed a mirror. The most conspicuous mirror in the whole house is in this bathroom," he surmised.
Watching the black hair spilling out from the washstand, he picked up the living room vase and hurled it at the mirror.
From the shattered mirror came a woman’s scream; blood flowed from it. There seemed to be a connection between this woman and the black hair in the bathroom—as she was injured, the hair seemed to twist and writhe in pain.
Turning around, Han Fei went back into the kitchen, moved the refrigerator into the bathroom, aimed at the black hair and untied the straps securing it.
The refrigerator door burst open and the headless corpse, having retrieved its head, charged out only to be tightly entwined by the black hair, eventually being devoured by it.
"So that’s how you kill a ghost," he realized.
Han Fei stared fixedly at the mirror. After a long suppression, a dangerous smile appeared on his face.
