Chapter 860: Chapter 860: Level 1 Red Alert, Han Fei

"Isn’t the Disaster Investigation Bureau in Area C? I heard they lost a lot investigating the Deceit Building recently. How can they have the energy to split their forces and investigate Area A?"

Eleven people missing, yet the Doctor’s expression didn’t change at all, as if he’d just heard about a neighbor’s pet dog getting lost.

"There must be something happening beyond our control. I have two speculations: first, the Investigation Bureau entering the Deceit Building was a guise, and their real aim is to penetrate Area A; second, a new force has emerged in Area A. They differ from ghosts but are strong enough to move freely within Area A." The Judge glanced at the patients deep in the underground clinic: "Don’t play too dangerously for now. If Chou Nan falls into the Investigation Bureau’s hands, we might be exposed too."

"We’ve made such a great contribution to the construction of Hope New City, saving so many lives. What is there to fear?" The Doctor, handsome and charming when he smiles, his voice brings a refreshing breeze feeling to people.

"Listening gains longevity." The Judge remained expressionless; he knew very well what kind of person the Doctor truly was: "Have you found any clues about the ghost I asked you to investigate?"

"I can confirm he is in Hope New City. That ghost avoided Deep Space Technology’s detection devices, seems very familiar with Deep Space Technology, and not only knows various equipment targeting ghosts but also a lot about events that occurred in Xinhu before the great disaster." The Doctor slowed his speech: "Such a smart ghost is indeed rare."

"Kong Tiancheng is a high-level leader sent by Deep Space Technology to Eternal Life Pharmaceutical. He was in the Eternal Life Building the entire week before the disaster broke out." The Judge’s expression became stern: "We absolutely must find this ghost and prevent him from contacting members of the Deep Space Technology company in the city."

"In a world protected by the Divine Spirit, we are the Divine Envoy; there is nothing to be afraid of. Your worries are unnecessary." The Doctor didn’t take the Judge’s words to heart.

"Don’t forget why we are here. I helped you recover your memory not so you can kill recklessly. We need to nip anyone who might harm the Shrine in the bud." The Judge’s tone gradually turned cold, like a mere judgment machine devoid of much human warmth.

"Haven’t said much, and you’re getting anxious already." The Doctor raised his hands: "Alright, alright, I’ll contact others now and give you a reply within a week."

"Divine Spirit’s birthday is in ten days; make sure nothing goes wrong." The Judge turned to leave, and the Doctor stared at his back, his handsome face gradually twisting.

"How to live is my decision; whoever points fingers, I’ll kill sooner or later." A bulging vein emerged on his face as the Doctor closed the door and walked toward the patients inside.

Soon, a woman’s screams pierced the air; after everything settled down, the Doctor turned on the underground clinic’s lights.

The patient wearing Blood Clothes was already dead; eerily, her corpse stood behind the Doctor, its eyes open, controlled by him.

"Little Hong, take her into the wardrobe, then change into clean clothes to accompany me on a patrol."

It seemed the corpse understood the Doctor’s words. She opened a door to an underground compartment, inside which stood numerous corpses, male and female, young and old, mostly devoid of liveliness, their bodies already decaying.

The corpse found an empty spot to stand, not long after, another woman wearing a white shirt walked out of the compartment.

"Doctor, I’ve been feeling unwell lately, always having the same Dream." The woman slowly approached the Doctor, raising her pale face: "Do you know who Little Hong is?"

The Doctor embraced the woman’s waist, injecting a needle of Ghost Blood into her body: "I’ll tell you who Little Hong is after we return from patrol."

Opening the underground room’s door, he and the woman, like lovers in hot pursuit, left the clinic heading towards the buffer zone’s outskirts.

Hope New City is the largest survival city, divided from the inside out into four areas: the core city district for decision-makers, researchers, and special talents; the inner city district prepared specifically for the elderly, sick, and the families of the sacrificed; the bustling outer city district with the largest population; and the expansive buffer zone.

To ensure ghosts and monsters can’t enter Hope New City, Deep Space Technology and Hope New City’s special personality holders jointly constructed the buffer zone, which became Xinhu’s largest experimental ground after the disaster, where various experiments targeting ghosts take place.

The Doctor’s clinic was set at the junction of the buffer zone and the outer city district, often offering free treatment to the injured, not only skilled in medical skills but also handsome and easy-going.

"Ghost Doctor, going to fetch medicine again?" Passing guards all seemed to know the Doctor; this perverse Madman appears as a particularly benevolent person in the residents’ eyes, everyone likes to interact with him.

"Night patrol brothers encountered some troubles; I’m going to check it out." The Doctor was polite and smooth, speaking with everyone without any airs.

"Heading out in the middle of the night, thank you for your efforts, Doctor." A neighbor’s door was pushed open, and a shy girl stepped out carrying an oil lamp, personally handing it to the Doctor.

"Thank you, Little Mei, and sorry for the trouble each time." The Doctor, possessing eyes as bright as gems in the night, embraced the female patient but locked his gaze on the girl, seemingly considering her as his next target.

The oil lamp emitted faint light, seemingly containing Little Mei’s Personality Power, unaffected even by Dark Energy, as the Doctor moved forward in the buffer zone, he and the patient walking past buildings sealed with planks.

Many such buildings exist in the buffer zone, each a separate experimental site, holding certain unique Ghosts and Monsters within.

Humans excel at using tools and controlling other things. Hope New City’s management, while fearing ghosts, simultaneously longs to acquire ghost abilities. In such contradictions, they gradually developed equipment targeting ghosts, like the Black Ring used by the Disaster Investigation Bureau; a Black Ring with special materials can prevent ghost intrusion, with the production methods known only to a few in the core city district.

The Doctor looked at the experiment content posted on the building, he placed the oil lamp at the stairway entrance, and knocked seven times on the closed iron door: "The Big Shot from the Core City District brought some bad news, we’ve got someone alive, brothers."

The rusty iron door slowly moved on its own, a pungent smell wafted out from inside the building meant for experiments on ghosts, yet it was hiding several corpses of Survivors.

"Did the judge come looking for you?" A gloomy, hoarse voice sounded in the darkness, shadows stepped out, they seemed to be holding a "wild party."

"You guys play really dirty." The Doctor took the female patient’s hand and covered his mouth and nose: "Chou Nan disappeared after gathering the Law Enforcement Team members from Zone A, this seems to be related to the Investigation Bureau, you should handle those collectibles quickly, keep a low profile lately."

"This place is our Heaven, God is on our side, it’s impossible to keep a low profile." A man sitting on a corpse took out a dinner plate, making organ specimens: "The judge previously asked us to investigate that ghost, it has already been found by the rats, he’s hiding in the Inner City District, trying to find a way into the Core City District."

"Didn’t you finish him off?" The Doctor grew impatient seeing the man absorbed in specimen making: "Afu, I’m talking to you."

"He’s possessed a really important person, that person’s one of fate’s turning points, we don’t dare act rashly." Another criminal walked out of the room, his body was covered in blood and filth, his expression full of savor.

Some kill for faith, some kill for protection, but these twisted individuals kill purely for interest.

"You actually believe in fate?" Just as the Doctor was about to say something, he suddenly caught sight of a faint light from afar, turning his head, he saw a vehicle belonging to the Investigation Bureau speeding along the buffer city road.

They exchanged glances, suddenly all becoming excited.

...

"We should now be entering within the Hope New City territory, I heard to ensure the city’s safety, they’ve established a wide buffer zone, later we might have to proceed on foot."

Han Fei had been driving all night, his mental state wasn’t very stable, drowsily, he suddenly saw a little girl standing in the middle of the road.

Slamming on the brakes, Han Fei stopped the car: "Dare to block my car?"

The little girl in red still stood in the middle of the road, when Han Fei looked back, only he remained inside the car.

"Ghost hitting the wall? Or Ghost Creature?"

He pinched himself, the pain was still there, very real.

"Can I play with you?"

Before Han Fei came back to his senses, the little girl already appeared outside the car window, her face almost pressed against it.

"Of course, I love children, people in my neighborhood all call me Child King." Han Fei opened the car door, staring at the girl’s face: "What do you want to play? Hide-and-Seek, Statues, Old Wolf Old Wolf What Time Is It, Pen Fairy, Bloody Mary, I can play them all."

The girl in red listened to the long list of names, paused for a moment, she seemed surprised by Han Fei’s variety.

"Do you not have other friends to play with you? That’s so sad." Han Fei patted the little girl’s head, glanced around, his inner thought was — Whose ghost is this? If no one claims it, then he will take it.

Seeing the girl remain silent, Han Fei simply started playing with her, game after game, as if an endless cycle of Reincarnation, with his great Physical Strength Han Fei wasn’t yet tired, but the girl seemed somewhat unable to keep up.

"I’m a bit tired, can I find you at your home next time?" The little girl’s voice carried no emotion, she hung her head low, as if a kind of Curse, once Han Fei agreed, she would constantly follow him, never allowing Han Fei to escape.

"I’ve never heard such a strange request." Han Fei squatted in front of the girl, grabbed her hands: "Why don’t I first take you to my home to know the way? There are many interesting people at my place, a beautiful and gentle nurse sister, a highly respected principal grandfather, a brother who loves soaking in the bath, you’ll surely like it there."

The girl’s hanging head slowly lifted, Han Fei’s enthusiasm made her sense discomfort and danger: "Alright..."

Using the secret that touches the depth of the soul, Han Fei held the girl’s hand, showing a smile more genuine than the Doctor’s by a hundredfold, greedy black mist surrounded him, the boundless Abyss tore apart the Illusion Realm, hideous Evil Ghosts crawled out from within!

"Welcome to the Greed Abyss."

Han Fei held the hand of the girl in red, his eyes, however, glanced at a tall building beside them, Impermanence and the Executioner were already rushing towards there!
