Chapter 631: This Time, She Is the Only Hope
Chapter 631: Chapter 631: This Time, She Is the Only Hope
The woman’s eyes reflected Han Fei’s face as she took step after step forward.
Her hand uncontrollably lifted, but as it was about to touch Han Fei’s face, it stopped; she slowly retracted her fingers.
"Why are you here? Where is your family?"
Han Fei looked at the woman’s face, so close to his own. He didn’t remember the woman before him; all the memories related to her had been completely forgotten. He merely had a vague feeling that she was different from other passersby—there was no hidden malice in her gaze.
Shaking his head slightly, Han Fei slowly calmed down and hid his bloody arm behind him, "I have an excellent memory, but now I have amnesia. I can’t remember anything besides my own name."
"Amnesia?" The woman was somewhat hesitant; the Han Fei before her was like a blank slate, and this encounter might serve as a new beginning.
"Yes, when I opened my eyes in the hospital, someone said she was my mother. She took me home, where there indeed were traces of my life, but that home was filled with ghosts, all of them wanting to kill me!" Han Fei’s voice became urgent: "Later, I found a Paradise recruitment certificate in a script, with a time written on it, and I felt that I should come here, but I can’t remember why."
Han Fei found the recruitment certificate and handed it to the woman before him, "I’m sure there’s a reason I had to come here!"
"A necessary reason?" The woman repeatedly examined the recruitment certificate, her gaze moving between the paper and Han Fei, and finally she gave an uncertain answer: "Could it be that you came here to meet me?"
After saying this, she felt somewhat inappropriate, shook her head repeatedly, and returned the recruitment certificate to Han Fei.
"I don’t know, I even forget that reason." Han Fei looked at his bloody arm: "After the game ended, a vague voice echoed in my brain sea, followed by a fragmented memory image that seemed to be a bloody hand. Then I couldn’t control myself from carving these wounds on my arm. Playing the game seems to help me regain my memory."
Wiping the blood off his arm, Han Fei counted the wounds calmly: "I don’t have tendencies for self-harm, these wounds are even quite neat, as if counting."
"Can you still count how many cuts you have made?"
"A total of ninety-nine, a very special number and also a number that terrifies me deeply." Han Fei held his head, his gaze becoming resolute: "I always feel that this number signifies something ominous. With each additional wound, it seems I’m getting closer to death."
Struggling to his feet, Han Fei looked squarely at the woman: "Through our just conversation and your first reaction upon seeing me, I can be sure that you knew me before! Can you tell me what exactly happened to me?"
Even with all memories lost, even with intense pain and discomfort, Han Fei still retained a very sharp insight ability.
"You..." The woman remembered many things. As the mother of Fu Sheng and Fu Tian, and the wife of Fu Yi, she seemed to be the most unique person in this city.
After pondering for a moment, she gently began, "You are an upright, brave, and loving person. You never bow to fate, nor fear despair and pain. I’ve only seen you once, but I think you might be the best father and husband in the world."
"Could you," Han Fei pondered for a moment, "say something I can understand?"
The sadness in the woman’s eyes faded considerably, and her tone was no longer melancholic: "I don’t know what your true identity is either, but you can trust me one hundred percent!"
"You said you met me once? What was I wearing? Where was it? Were there any special buildings nearby? The more details you provide, the more I can deduce."
Han Fei found that he indeed did not feel fear in front of the woman.
"The scene in the dream was very vague, I vaguely remember that you were a soul." The woman recalled seriously; sometimes, she too couldn’t quite distinguish between reality and dreams. After all, that encounter was too incredulous, and as the hatred dissipated, she had essentially let go of the past.
"A soul?" Han Fei’s trust in the woman wavered slightly: "Did you just get discharged from the hospital too?"
"We did meet in the hospital."
"As patients?"
"Not really."
The woman was about to elaborate when suddenly there was commotion at the entrance of Paradise. Security guards and doctors in white coats emerged from the crowd, looking around as if searching for someone.
"We can’t hide here anymore; we should leave now." The woman wanted to take Han Fei with her, but he shook his head.
"It’s no use. I’ve checked; Paradise’s surveillance has no blind spots. They had actually entered just now, and now they’re surrounding us from both the front and back. I can’t escape." Han Fei also actively sought a way to flee but because he couldn’t find a way out of Paradise, he had chosen this place in the end.
After he had spoken, Han Fei looked at Fu Tian, "Hold onto that Paradise card well; I will help you clear all the games."
Fu Tian had originally looked down on Han Fei, but ever since Han Fei had demonstrated his extraordinary memory, the child had begun to truly believe that Han Fei was very impressive.
"Okay, I’ll share half of the mystery gift with you after we clear the games." Fu Tian was still young, and his joy was always plainly visible on his face.
"Has anyone ever received that mystery gift before?" Han Fei was somewhat curious.
"It’s said to be Paradise’s annual pass, as well as an invitation. Guests who receive the invitation can play even more difficult and thrilling games, and the rewards for those games are very substantial." Fu Tian was far smarter and more mature than his peers, with a strong competitive spirit. He liked to challenge those extremely difficult games over and over until he succeeded.
"To play ordinary games, you have to buy an entrance ticket to Paradise; money is the price. To play the games with more substantial rewards, you must also pay a price, be it money or something else."
Han Fei unconsciously began to think in this direction; he wanted to participate in more games.
"I’m not clear on what the price is, I’ve never even seen a real person who received the invitation." Fu Tian carefully put away the card.
"Where do you live? If you get taken away, where should I go to find you?" As the doctors and security guards drew closer, the woman quickly asked.
"Go straight out of the main entrance of Paradise, walk two kilometers, turn right at the crossroads, and you’ll see a very dilapidated residential area. I live in Building 4, on the ninth floor, in apartment 4904." Han Fei spoke faster, "That place is really haunted, don’t come at night, and don’t trust anyone."
As the doctor and security guard approached, Han Fei immediately stopped talking; he was forcibly pinned to the ground.
"Stay away from him! This man is very dangerous!" The Paradise security guard led the mother and child aside, and they watched helplessly as Han Fei was restrained by the nurses.
His body held down by strangers, Han Fei instinctively felt fear; the feeling of not being able to control his own fate caused him tremendous agony.
With his face pressed against the cement floor, Han Fei, dressed in a costume, struggled desperately, but the more he resisted, the more people treated him like a madman.
"How did a lunatic get into Paradise?"
"Heard someone bought him the ticket; isn’t this harming oneself as well as others? If something happens, can she afford the responsibility?"
"Hurry up and get him out of here!"
Han Fei’s lips were grazed and broken; his body had not fully recovered, and all his resistance was in vain.
"How did you end up hurting your hands like this?" The middle-aged man with half-white hair looked at Han Fei with immense worry, "It’s only been a day; how did you relapse? It looks like we must increase the medication dosage again."
Han Fei’s head was pressed to the ground; his gaze finally landed on the mother and child.
"Maybe that woman was right; I came here with all my might, just to meet her and her child."
The man who claimed to be Han Fei’s father wanted to increase the medication dosage, and Han Fei did not know how long he could stay lucid; he felt his fate had been placed in the hands of others.
The woman not far away saw Han Fei being roughly handled by the security guard, saw Han Fei treated by everyone as a madman and mentally ill, and also saw the helpless look of Han Fei struggling.
Her gaze was constantly on Han Fei; the hand holding her bag slowly clenched tighter.
The whole world regarded Han Fei as a madman, and this time it seemed only she could go to save him.
The amnesiac Han Fei had forgotten the past, without the previous restraints, meaning he could weave a completely new future in his brain sea.
The woman’s eyes gradually became more complex, but at the last moment, she bit her lip hard.
"I will help you regain your memories, even if doing so means losing you again."
