My ‘Healing’ Game
Chapter 630: 99 Times

Chapter 630: Chapter 630: 99 Times

Watching the costumed performer who had fallen to the ground, Fu Tian still couldn’t understand, he shook his head, "But no matter what, I still don’t want to become someone like him."

The woman didn’t impose her views on Fu Tian, she got up and walked towards Han Fei.

As she tried to help Han Fei up, Han Fei instinctively started to dodge her.

Wearing raggedy costume clothes, Han Fei lay awkwardly on the ground, a drink seeping through the gap of the costume’s headpiece, making his neck look dirty.

"Don’t be afraid, don’t be afraid." The woman sensed that the actor inside the costume couldn’t be very old, and spoke in a very gentle voice. She took a handkerchief from her pocket intending to wipe the drink stains from Han Fei’s collar, but every time she drew near, Han Fei moved back.

Having lost his memory, everything in this world felt alien and frightening to Han Fei, and he couldn’t trust anyone, so it was normal for him to be guarded.

Seemingly noticing Han Fei’s pain, the woman eventually just stuffed her own handkerchief into Han Fei’s hand, "Why are you the only mascot outside Paradise? Do you need me to take you home?"

At the mention of "home," Han Fei’s mind suddenly became alert; he absolutely couldn’t go back.

With a mind blank, he didn’t know if his parents were really his parents, which was also an unimaginable torment for someone.

Getting up from the ground, Han Fei, still hiding in his costume, grasped the railing and looked towards Paradise.

"I arrived at Paradise before eight o’clock with my employment certificate, I did all that, but it seems like nothing has happened."

Han Fei shifted his gaze, and looked down at the handkerchief, "After entering Paradise, I was driven out again, and after being pushed down, a kind mother and son helped me out."

Since leaving the neighborhood, Han Fei went through everyone he had met in his mind; he realized his memory was exceptionally good, almost never forgetting a face.

"Why would someone with such a good memory like me have amnesia?"

Gripping the handkerchief tightly, Han Fei was about to organize the clues he knew when suddenly a security guard from Paradise approached.

The family that had earlier had a conflict with Han Fei stood behind the security guard, pointing at him.

"Our Paradise has very high standards for staff, you have been violent towards visitors, and you knocked down a child, which has seriously violated our code of conduct for employees," the security guard directly stepped in front of Han Fei, "Right now we think you are dangerous, you are not welcomed here, please leave as quickly as possible."

The security guard wanted to drive Han Fei away, but the mother couldn’t stand watching, she pulled out the video she had recorded and showed the security guard; "Take a good look, even though he was bullied like this, he still abided by your employee code, he didn’t fight back at all. I think you should investigate thoroughly before penalizing him."

"We have already received a notification from our management, he did not pass the test, we are very sorry," the security guard said in a strictly businesslike manner, his attitude cold, apparently resolved to make Han Fei leave.

Seeing Han Fei still not moving, they directly made a move.

Having not yet found the clues, Han Fei naturally did not want to leave, he struggled fiercely in his worn costume, looking extremely awkward and pitiful.

"Since he is no longer your employee and hasn’t disturbed anyone else, then you have even less right to manage him." The woman was gentle on the outside but tough on the inside; she handed her own ticket to Han Fei, "Now he is also a visitor here, shouldn’t you guys treat him with the attitude you have towards visitors?"

The woman hadn’t intended to meddle, but for some reason, seeing the solitary costumed performer standing outside of Paradise, and recalling some memories that had occurred, she didn’t want such a tragedy to happen again.

Isolation, exclusion, violence, these were the things she hated the most.

Seeing the woman insisting on intervening, the security guard had no choice but to give up, as they had no justification to begin with, and now it was even harder to say anything.

"Why bother?" one of the Paradise Security Guards, who was quite straightforward, said, "The guy has some issues. Helping him might just end up getting you hurt."

"That’s my concern," the woman tried to communicate with Han Fei, "Do you want to go home now, or somewhere else?"

Listening to the woman’s voice, Han Fei always felt a hint of familiarity. He raised his hand, pointing towards Paradise, "I have some things to figure out. I’ll pay you back for the ticket later."

Everyone who knew Han Fei thought he was sick, including his closest parents, but that woman did not detect any problem from Han Fei’s words.

Holding the ticket, Han Fei re-entered Paradise under the watch of the security guard. He looked at the crowded throng, his heart somewhat flustered, and his body showing slight maladaptation; he seemed to suffer from severe social anxiety, developing pathological abnormalities whenever he stayed in crowded and lively places for too long.

"How about you take off the doll head mask? Running around wearing something like that must be uncomfortable," the woman said after hearing Han Fei’s voice earlier, feeling odd, as if she had seen this weird person somewhere before. "Are you trying to speak to the park management to make a complaint?"

Han Fei maintained a certain distance from the woman, gently swaying the large doll head mask.

"Then why do you insist on entering this park?" Fu Tian also found it strange, blinking his bright eyes as he looked at Han Fei.

Shaking his head again, Han Fei couldn’t remember anything. He only knew that he had to come here, but he had forgotten the reason why.

"How about you join us for a walk?" the woman suggested, worried that Han Fei might get into an accident again and also afraid Han Fei might indeed hurt other innocent people.

Looking at the woman’s face, Han Fei did not refuse this time; he nodded slightly and quietly followed beside her.

At first, Fu Tian was a bit unhappy, but he quickly got caught up in the amusement park’s attractions, playing excitedly.

"It’s nice being a kid, feeling down quickly and recuperating just as quickly. The world always has something to catch their interest," the woman remarked as she watched Fu Tian play, feeling somewhat sentimental.

Han Fei watched in silence as Fu Tian, who was smarter than his peers, won many of the competitive brain games in the park.

Each time he won a game, the park staff would stamp a cute seal on his card, suggesting that collecting enough stamps could be exchanged for a mysterious gift.

In a very short time, Fu Tian had already collected four stamps. He held his card as if racing against time and ran to a game booth with the shortest line.

"I want to play this," Fu Tian handed his card to the staff member and sat down obediently on the chair.

"Already four stamps? Good job, kid!" the staff member praised him with a smile, then took out two decks of playing cards, "I will mix the two decks of cards and then place them face down on the table one by one. I’ll show each card as I lay them down, and you need to remember the position of all the cards. After I’ve laid them all out, you start flipping the cards. You can only remove two cards if they match in both suit and rank. If you fail, the flipped cards must be covered again."

"The rules are simple. If you can clear the table within three minutes, you win."

"Three minutes?" Fu Tian nodded, "I’ll try."

The staff member moved very quickly. After shuffling the cards, he placed them face down on the table while showing each card.

At first, Fu Tian could remember, but after the thirtieth card, he got a bit confused.

"Start the timer!" the staff member took his hands off the table and shouted to Fu Tian.

The boy swiftly flipped the cards on the table, but his readiness was very average.

This was a game purely testing memory. Fu Tian was young and the more agitated he became, the more errors he made.

Three minutes quickly passed, and Fu Tian had not succeeded.

"I’m sorry, little one, I can’t give you the stamp," the staff member took Fu Tian’s card away and handed him a stationery box.

"I don’t want the stationery box. Can you give me the card back?" Fu Tian anxiously watched his card being taken away.

"I can give you another chance to try, but if you fail again, I will have to take the card away," the staff member said with a smile on his face, but his tone was very firm; the rules of Paradise cannot be broken.

"Try again?" Fu Tian hesitated, knowing he couldn’t succeed even with another attempt: "But I don’t want a stationery box. I have one my dad gave me."

"Then you can also let your dad and mom try the game," the staff member was skilled at dealing with children. Whenever they encountered a child throwing a tantrum, the smart move was to communicate with the child’s parents to solve the problem quickly.

The woman and Han Fei also heard what the staff member said, the woman smiled and didn’t think it was a big deal.

Next to her, Han Fei seemed to be triggered by something; he peered through the gap of his costume headgear outside, his eyes fixating on the blackboard behind the stall, which recorded the times other visitors finished the game.

"The game..."

A voice seemed to echo in the emptiness of his Brain Sea, Han Fei couldn’t hear it clearly; he instinctively sat down at the card table.

Seeing a costumed actor come over, the staff member was puzzled: "Who are you?"

"I’m here to help him with this game."

Originally, it was Fu Tian who was supposed to play this game, but now Han Fei took his place and started playing the game.

A stab of pain shot through the back of Han Fei’s head. It seemed like such a trivial matter, yet he faintly felt as if it was a choice made by fate.

"If it’s an adult, the time will be shorter; you need to finish in two minutes and thirty seconds," the staff member began dealing cards, while Han Fei tore off the already tattered left sleeve of his costume.

The staff member spent just over a minute to arrange all the cards, then he moved his hands away from the table: "Start the timer!"

The moment the staff member shouted start, Han Fei’s hands had already reached out; he precisely remembered the position of every card!

Twenty cards, forty cards...

Han Fei seemed not to need to think at all; he was like a precisely running machine. Not to mention any mistake, even his card-flipping actions were very standard, as if he had trained countless times.

The staff member was stunned, and Fu Tian sitting next to Han Fei was also dumbfounded, the scene before him was a huge psychological shock to the kid.

In less than a minute, Han Fei had cleared the table, flipping over all the cards successfully.

The speed frightened the staff member, who paused for a moment before stopping the timer.

"One minute? I don’t deal cards that fast. How did you remember them?"

"Give the card back to the kid," Han Fei didn’t remember who Fu Tian was, but he still wanted to help the kid get what he desired.

"Okay, okay." The staff member stamped the fifth stamp on Fu Tian’s card, then picked up a pen and wrote down Han Fei’s record on the blackboard; since he used Fu Tian’s card, the name recorded as the creator of the record was also written as Fu Tian.

After writing the record, some very vague voices came from the depths of Han Fei’s Brain Sea, slightly louder than before.

"It’s so familiar, who is in my mind?"

The stabbing pain in the back of his head became more intense. Han Fei, separated by the costume headgear, couldn’t touch his own head, so he kept hitting himself.

A series of fragmented images flashed by quickly, and Han Fei saw his own bloodied arm.

He fiercely pounded his head, knocking the costume headgear to the ground.

"My arm? Why can’t I remember?"

Han Fei fiercely grabbed his arm as if trying to tear it off; he felt he had to do something.

People noticed his abnormality and cast strange looks at him, Han Fei felt that they were all Ghosts; he was increasingly scared and didn’t even pick up the headgear that had fallen to the ground, he quickly ran towards a less crowded area.

"Hey! Where are you going?" The woman and Fu Tian were startled by Han Fei’s sudden action; they picked up the headgear from the ground and chased after Han Fei.

The costume sleeve on his arm was torn off violently, and Han Fei’s fingernails dug fiercely into his flesh, the pain on his arm alleviating the pain in his brain.

He didn’t know why he was doing this; it seemed to be a habit he had forced himself to adopt.

His fingernails dug out uneven blood marks, but rather than stopping, his actions became even more violent.

Blood Pearls dripped down his arm, his nails were full of blood, yet he still didn’t stop; he was like a self-harming Madman.

The looks of people around him became stranger and stranger; the whole world seemed to treat him as a Monster and an outcast.

The more people acted this way, the more frightened Han Fei felt inside; he kept running, not daring to stop.

After running a long time, Han Fei arrived behind the haunted house in Paradise and hid beside a large tree.

The urge to harm himself had stopped, Han Fei lowered his head to look at his bloodied arm.

"Pain didn’t bring me any pleasure, which shows I don’t have masochistic tendencies, but why did I desperately leave these wounds?"

Surveying the densely packed, uneven cuts on his arm, Han Fei’s eyebrows were tightly furrowed.

"99 marks? What does this number mean?"

As Han Fei was lost in thought, the mother and son, holding the costume headgear, caught up to him.

"Why do you hurt yourself so much?" the woman’s voice was gentle yet stern as she walked up to Han Fei, just about to say something more, Han Fei slowly lifted his head.

As the costume headgear rolled off his hands, the woman stood staring blankly at Han Fei’s face.

"What... what’s your name?"

"Han Fei."
