Chapter 619: Chapter 619: The Monster in the Window

Big Evil looked at Han Fei and Xu Qin, who were quite close, feeling somewhat dejected.

The thrilling scene it had imagined did not occur, so in a foul mood, it rolled on the ground and accidentally knocked over the cabinet where Xu Qin kept the meat.

As the cabinet fell, Big Evil seemed to realize something and immediately rushed outside.

Big Evil, fearless of both heaven and earth, seemed somewhat afraid of Xu Qin; after not seeing her for a night, it was unclear how Xu Qin had tamed Big Evil.

"Forget about it, let it go," said Han Fei, stopping Xu Qin who was prepared to chase after it. This was not because he wanted to protect Big Evil; he was simply afraid to casually eat those dishes without Xu Qin by his side, fearing he might die before help could arrive.

To tell the truth, the meat Xu Qin cooked was incredibly delicious, but for most people, they might only have the chance to taste it once in their lifetime, as one only has one life to live.

But Han Fei was different. With Xu Qin by his side to protect and escort him, he could repeatedly dance on the edge of death, using the most direct and brutal method to improve his resistance to certain curses until his body adapted to those curses.

Continuously eating, Han Fei’s frail and broken body slowly recovered, and he estimated that he would likely be healed tonight.

With the thought of not wasting any time, Han Fei opened his Attribute Panel, his gaze sweeping over to the Talent Ability "Soul-summoning".

Whenever Ghost Gate appeared, one soul got healed, experiencing the most special warmth and caring in the mortal world.

’Soul-summoning’ might be a misleading name; it might as well be changed to ’Love’s Pull’."

After finishing the first plate of meat, Han Fei called Feng Ziyu over and asked him to gather the Death Building’s security guards, preparing to welcome new players.

Once Han Fei received the signal from Feng Ziyu that everything was ready, he walked out of the kitchen and used Soul-summoning in a corner.

The Attribute Panel was torn open by Blood Silk, and behind the Ghost Gate was the surging Blood Sea.

Han Fei shook the Soul-guiding Bell in his hand, picturing Li Huang’s image and her birthday, and then softly uttered Li Huang’s name.

For modern people who work intensely every day, lying in a virtual gaming pod at home to rest has become a routine for many. The higher-level gaming pods provide all-around relaxation for the players.

The Blood Sea churned, and a feather-like flame had just surfaced when it was swallowed by a long-awaited Ghost Face!

A shallow figure ran out of the Ghost Gate, randomly appearing in one of the rooms within the Death Building.

The Ghost Gate closed, Han Fei put away the Soul-guiding Bell, and walked outside.

"With Fu Sheng’s Personality Reshaping Shrine, many troublesome matters can be directly omitted, but the fact that Li Huang remained conscious while being pursued by the Painter shows she indeed has Talent. I could try to help her develop this Talent," he thought.

When Li Huang was in extreme danger, her first thought upon seeing Han Fei wasn’t to seek help, but to urge Han Fei to hurry away.

The tests of life and death reveal one’s true character well, and Li Huang made Han Fei feel she was also "moldable material," and perhaps one day in the future, he could let her also know the truth.

For such a talented individual, Han Fei valued her highly. It would be somewhat a waste to simply arrange for Personality Reshaping immediately; he planned to teach her according to her aptitude and had Feng Ziyu prepare some small tests for Li Huang.

First, let’s see the situation, then make a plan.

Feeling the location of the wandering soul, Han Fei quietly approached, watching everything covertly.

Ten minutes later, somewhat embarrassed, Li Zai carried Li Huang to the side of the shrine. He hadn’t followed the script and accidentally released the younger brother in his stomach, which thoroughly frightened the already nervous Li Huang, causing her to faint from the shock of the drastic, up-close change.

"Overall, Li Huang’s performances in all aspects were quite excellent. Both her physical and psychological qualities are good. When running away, she was planning her route in her mind and knew to observe her surroundings," Feng Ziyu said, holding his organized data and approaching Han Fei.

"Furthermore, she has two additional positive factors. The first is that as long as she can move, she won’t give up faced with a hopeless situation. She is someone with a strong inner spirit, not easily defeated."

"The second point, when she encountered crying and sensed there might be a problem with it, she still chose to take the crying with her as she fled, even shielding it behind her. She appears cold and strong on the outside, but her heart is actually soft and full of warmth."

Feng Ziyu, like a HR department worker, handed his organized materials to Han Fei.

"She’s a player with great potential, it would be better if she could hold on a bit longer," said Han Fei as he lifted the black cloth on the shrine and pressed his palm on Li Huang’s head. Before using personality reshaping, he checked Li Huang’s attributes.

Li Huang, usually busy with work, had a low level and no prominent attributes. She didn’t even have a Talent Ability, entirely fitting the template of an ordinary person.

"She really came here for leisure."

If it weren’t for being chased by a painter, making Li Huang come into contact with some unclean substances, Han Fei probably wouldn’t have managed to soul-summon her into the Deep World.

After checking Li Huang’s mental state, Han Fei woke her and used personality reshaping without waiting for her to react.

He deleted the memories related to the painter, the child, and Number Four from Li Huang’s mind, leaving the other parts untouched.

The live streaming video had been spread everywhere online; Li Huang could find out some things by searching on her own. This was the limitation of personality reshaping. It could only delete someone’s memories, but the pain and despair those memories had caused wouldn’t disappear.

Li Huang’s screams rang in his ears. During the final stage of personality reshaping, Han Fei also erased Li Huang’s memory of entering the Deep World and then used the Soul-returning Ability to send her away.

The entire process lasted only three minutes. Han Fei’s movements were becoming more skilled, and he also noticed that as he used Soul-returning more frequently, the special connection he formed with those lost souls grew stronger.

This connection could only be felt by him, as if all the souls he had sent back were branded with his mark.

Soul-returning Talent was an inborn talent Han Fei had when he entered the game, with an unknown level. Judging from the current effectiveness, it was much more powerful than Fu Sheng’s Basic-level Soul-returning in the Shrine World.

"Pulling players into the Deep World and then deleting some of their memories is feasible, which is a very terrifying ability."

Han Fei couldn’t change players’ memories, but by deleting some key nodes, black could possibly turn into white, and enemies might turn into friends,

"I wonder if Fu Sheng ever used his abilities on living people before."

Sitting in front of the shrine, Han Fei rested his chin on one hand.

He felt some memories in his mind were about to surface – when his mind was stained red with blood, he would rediscover his true self and face the personality that could only laugh maniacally.

"After clearing all the games in Paradise, he would be resurrected within me. This ’he’ might be Fu Sheng, Kuangxiao, or something else entirely,"

Thinking of this, Han Fei felt a headache coming on. He stood up and returned to the fifth floor, sitting next to Xu Qin’s dining table and voraciously devouring the food on the table.

When feeling down and under a lot of pressure, the best treat was a hearty meal.

After waiting out the three-hour limit, Han Fei’s body had recovered significantly. He summoned the residents of the Death Building and the neighbors from Happiness Residential Community, preparing for the most crucial task of the evening.

"The Death Building Area now has the ability to defend itself, but in the Deep World, standing still is akin to slow suicide. We must do everything in our power to venture further,"

"The Plastic Surgery Hospital is our neighbor, and we’re well aware of their capabilities. To avoid a deadly struggle with them, which would only benefit Paradise, I’ve decided to try allying with them first. Together, we can defeat Paradise and then compete for control of this area based on our abilities."

As the nominal manager of the Death Building Area, Han Fei, with his compelling charm of negative fifteen, managed to unite everyone. His proposals were hardly ever contested.

"Will they agree?" Li Zai asked with a drooping face.

"Part of the ’Faceless Hatred’ and ’White Shoe Hatred’ obsessions are in our hands; they have to agree even if they don’t want to," Han Fei replied, glancing at Zhuang Wen, who seemed to have something to say.

"This woman’s hatred is not complete. I asked Doctor Yan, and to truly kill her, we’d need to gather a range of emotions like joy, anger, sorrow, pleasure, and resentment. Each emotion is a face, and those beautiful faces are her lifelines," Zhuang Wen had developed a humanness in her since she followed Han Fei into the Shrine Memory World, likely influenced by her experiences there.

"I originally wanted to devour her, but even if I swallowed her now, it would barely enhance my power. Only once we’ve collected all of her faces and devoured her can I..."

Zhuang Wen discussed these horrifying plans openly in front of the victim, and moreover, in the kitchen.

What was even more terrifying was the neighbors’ expressions changing when they heard that they could devour the hatred. Their chilling, horrific faces turned toward the faceless woman’s skull.

"We can’t kill her yet. You guys put a curse on her skull first, and leave the rest to me."

After a brief discussion, Zhuang Wen placed the faceless woman’s skull on the dining table, and together with Xu Qin, they engraved various death curses and curses into the hatred of the faceless woman.

It must be said that the faceless woman was indeed unlucky. If it had been another form of hatred, she might have been able to escape using her eerie abilities. However, Zhuang Wen had inherited all the Death Building’s death curses, and Xu Qin was a Curse Aggregation. These two had crammed possibly the most malevolent curses imaginable into the faceless woman’s skull, leaving her no chance to escape.

"This is truly a work of art." Zhuang Wen held up the woman’s skull. She and Xu Qin had used curses to carve a face for the woman, preventing this hatred from merging with her other faces until the curse was broken.

"Let’s go, it’s time to set out." Han Fei couldn’t wait to see the Painter again.

Zhuang Wen carrying the faceless woman’s skull, Xu Qin holding the hand of the White Shoe Kindness, and Han Fei walking between them. The blood dispersed the fog, and the night itself seemed stained red.

"Let’s meet up with the Mirror God first, and until then, try to avoid any conflicts."

Moving rapidly forward, as soon as the faceless woman’s skull left the fog, the Plastic Surgery Hospital Area immediately showed signs of disturbance.

Shadowy figures flitted through the twisted, malformed buildings of the Plastic Surgery Hospital, having noticed Han Fei and the others.

Both parties maintained an unspoken agreement, neither initiating an attack as they ran along the alleys bordering the Plastic Surgery Hospital, heading straight for the Department Store.

Han Fei pulled open the rusted doors of the department store and placed the head of the faceless woman onto the shrine inside the department store.

He first tried to directly sacrifice the faceless woman.

After several attempts, the shrine did not respond, perhaps because the faceless woman’s residual obsessions were too strong.

"I will put you in the shrine, and if you dare have any crooked ideas, I will sacrifice you directly to the shrine," Han Fei stared at the faceless woman, switching on his master-level acting, likely the first living person in the Deep World to dare threaten with such hatred.

The faceless woman was extremely unlucky to end up in Han Fei’s hands; she couldn’t fathom the thoughts of the person before her, who simply didn’t play by the rules of the Deep World.

"Han Fei, they’re here," Mirror God quietly informed Han Fei and then opened the department store’s back door, where a tall, thin man with a bare upper body appeared.

"The painter? He actually dared to come here alone?" Han Fei was surprised to see the man at the backdoor.

With a three-to-one ratio, the painter stood no chance of winning. Yet, despite the absolute disadvantage, he still dared to enter the department store alone.

As he stepped into the store, all the doors and windows of the department store were shut, turning it into a sealed space.

Han Fei had no further plans, but Mirror God was already ready to ambush.

When the four hatreds gathered together, even though they all concealed their auras, the terrifying oppressiveness made the souls on the shelves tremble.

But for Han Fei, these were minor scenes; after all, he had once been laid on a dinner table and dismembered by ten hatreds.

"Why are you alone?"

Han Fei sat next to the shrine, devouring the pig heart Xu Qin had made, swallowing large bites without his appetite being affected by the several hatreds.

Surrounded by Xu Qin, Zhuang Wen, and Mirror God, the high and thin man’s gaze still lingered on Han Fei.

His demeanor was the same as in reality, silent and cold, as if already disillusioned with everything, yet that disillusionment had not turned into hatred or malice, but into deep numbness.

Just as Mirror God was about to act, black blood flowed from the "4" scar on the right arm of the slender man, accompanied by the cries of children within it.

The high and thin man gently embraced his own arm as if holding an infant, and a rare tenderness appeared on his silent face.

Black blood dripped down, each drop seeming like a painting composed of memories or like doors leading to the hearts of different children.

"How eerie," said Mirror God, who was worldly and wise, frowning as he noticed the painter’s aura becoming more terrifying. The force seemed not to stem from inner hatred but from something else, "No wonder Butterfly has not taken over the Plastic Surgery Hospital. There’s a lot hidden within this hatred!"

As black blood spread over his upper body, the painter slowly turned around, his back painted with a black window.

As blood dropped onto the window frame, it seemed as if something behind the window was stirring. Moments later, a giant eye opened behind the window!

Its enormous body seemed to have no end, and at that moment, it pressed against the window, peering at Han Fei on the other side with that eyeball.
