Chapter 610: Chapter 609: Isolated Han Fei

"That round object wasn’t a ball? That child was holding another child’s head!"

Alin’s pupils dilated rapidly; she focused intently on the darkness in the distance as fear washed over her like a tide, making even the slightest movement seem daunting.

A chill entered her lungs, and suddenly, Alin felt someone tugging at her clothes. She thought it was Li Huang, but when she turned around, she found a pale arm clutching her wrist, seemingly trying to separate her from Li Huang.

Following the direction of the arm, she saw a six or seven-year-old child, its facial features hollowed out, crouching on the steps and looking up at her.

"There’s someone!!"

Alin screamed at the top of her lungs, nearly breaking her voice.

She voluntarily released Li Huang’s arm and frantically shook her left hand as if something was clinging onto it.

Screaming, shouting, Alin collapsed onto the stairs as tears streamed down her face; she was truly terrified.

"What did you see?" Han Fei, who was at the front, stopped walking. He didn’t hold any grudge against Alin and would save her if it were within his means.

"It’s a child! No, three children! One without a head, and another with its facial features gouged out, its face all black holes!" Alin was hysterical, crying and shouting simultaneously.

"We are in a plastic surgery hospital; how could there be children here?" Bai Cha tried to comfort Alin: "What you saw must be the Little Ghosts designed by Tang Yi; those are all virtual images, all fake."

"But..." Alin tearfully retorted: "That Little Ghost really touched me, I felt someone pulling my hand just now, it wanted to separate me from Li Huang! It wanted to drag me away alone! Xia Yilan must have been dragged away by them like that! There are really ghosts!"

"We are filming a reality show; don’t get too involved." Wu Li also found it baffling: "Now I understand why Tang Yi chose you as a newcomer for the show, you often produce effects more realistic than those of us who are consciously acting."

"I’m not making show effects! I really am not making show effects!" Alin said pitifully, ultimately being pulled up and held by Li Huang, who offered her genuine comfort.

Compared with those unreliable male actors, Li Huang seemed mature and stable, a true pillar of support.

"Stop blaming her; it’s normal to be scared. Haven’t any of you felt fear?" Li Huang’s gaze swept over each person, finally resting on Han Fei: "Of course, except for him."

"I want to quit." Alin shook her head, wiping her tears, looking very pitiable.

"Shows produced by Tang Yi never fail to become popular. Your popularity has plateaued for quite some time now; if you want to break through again, this really is an opportunity," Li Huang said maturely, understanding well what the audience needs, "You’re different from us actors, this is your first reality show, you have the most genuine reactions, and that’s exactly what the audience wants to see. Once the show airs, your influence will increase significantly, making your transition into acting very smooth."

Alin knew this was an opportunity she had to seize, and, besides, withdrawing now would mean breaching the contract, and the company backing her might end up paying a hefty sum because of her personal decision.

"We’re filming a reality show. If it’s really haunted, Tang Yi would definitely stop shooting. Even if he is crazy, he wouldn’t joke about the actors’ lives, right? Besides, how could ghosts possibly exist in this world?"

Bai Cha and Li Huang had just managed to console Alin when Han Fei chose that moment to speak.

"All of Tang Yi’s variety shows become incredibly popular, but they all have a short lifespan. Would such a self-centered, top-tier reality show producer give up massive traffic and attention?"

Han Fei walked up to Alin, grabbing her arm, and he noticed a spot of red paint on her wrist.

"If the filming site is really haunted, then Tang Yi must be thrilled. At least until someone is seriously injured, he definitely won’t halt the shooting. It’s very likely a real-life death game, and we are the actors who gamble with our lives on stage," Han Fei released Alin’s hand, "I already have a bad feeling. If you’re truly scared, it would be wise to drop out early. One mustn’t be blinded by greed in life."

"Don’t you think you sound a bit childish saying these things?" Bai Cha scoffed at Han Fei, "Your script matches your personality perfectly. Director Jia Jia sure knows how to read people."

"Whatever, just don’t cry later," Han Fei said with a smile, returning to the front of the line and being the first to enter the fourth floor.

Tang Yi was very committed to this new reality show and had spent a lot on setting the scene. He had installed mechanisms that could be controlled backstage in an already creepy building. Whenever someone passed by, eerie sounds and strange shadows would appear, though they were all kept at a safe distance from the actors.

On the fourth floor of the hospital, the walls were adorned with paintings of playing children, and various wreaths were piled in front of them, each bearing terrifying phrases like "I will avenge you," "The doctor who hurt you must be killed," "The face thief must be captured," and so on.

Stepping on "paper money" stirred by the wind, several actors slowly moved inward.

Every office on the fourth floor had white couplets, and the doors were splashed with filthy substances, with a white funeral banner hanging from the hinges of one of the operation room doors.

"Has the entire fourth floor been turned into a memorial hall?" Xiao Chen shivered slightly, feeling restless just standing there.

"Was Number Eight killed here? Is this the first crime scene?" Wu Li read the texts on the wreaths: "All the wreaths in the hallway seem to have been sent by the same person, claiming to seek revenge for Number Eight. Based on my experience from shooting so many horror movies, it’s likely that it’s someone who secretly cherished Number Eight. Learning that Number Eight was killed by us, they play ghost and try to kill all seven of us."

"I think so too," Li Huang nodded, "That avenger is very likely the security guard, impersonating a security guard and luring us back here as Number Eight, forging everything just to leverage our guilt and fear about Number Eight, leading us all to slaughter."

"Compared to the security guard, I think he’s more suspicious," Bai Cha lowered his voice and nodded towards Han Fei, "All six of our scripts have memories relating to Number Eight, but his script doesn’t mention anything about Number Eight at all. Plus, don’t you find it strange? He and Xia Yilan are from the same company, and I heard they are set to co-star in an upcoming drama, they must be partners. Look around, who is the first to disappear?"

"Are you suggesting that Xia Yilan and Han Fei are working together? She disappeared on purpose, aiming to confront us from the shadows?" Wu Li also thought this was possible.

"It’s quite simple! How could Xia Yilan, a living person, just disappear without a trace?" Bai Cha slowly convinced himself, "This place is so terrifying, surely it’s safer for everyone to stick together, yet she chose to act alone without making a sound. There must be something fishy about that!"

"Indeed," Xiao Chen also felt that Bai Cha made sense, "I heard that their next part of the show is set in a plastic surgery hospital, and the first episode of this variety show is also being filmed in a plastic surgery hospital. These two definitely have something up their sleeve!"

After some analysis, the actors began to gradually distance themselves from Han Fei and even started to feel scared of him, thinking that he might lead them into danger.

Bai Cha successfully set the pace for isolating Han Fei, grinning at him, feeling somewhat pleased inside.

He thought that in such a terrifying scenario, the more people, the safer, and Han Fei would slowly dig his own grave.

Walking ahead and leading the way, Han Fei could hear the others talking, but he didn’t bother to engage. When the painter would show up, those guys would realize how horrifying a real ghost is, and they would understand that Han Fei was actually a kind person.

Opening each hospital room, Han Fei finally lifted the white soul banner hanging over the surgery room and entered inside.

In the huge surgery room, rusted medical instruments lay around, and there was the surgery table that Han Fei knew so well.

"So much expensive equipment left behind? This hospital must have been closed suddenly, what a waste," Wu Li stood outside the surgery room. He did not dare to enter alone nor with Han Fei.

"Usually, they would lock the place down only in case of some acute infectious disease, but this is just a plastic surgery hospital."

The other actors also entered the room, keeping their distance from Han Fei, seemingly intentionally isolating him.

"What is this?"

Han Fei lifted the white cloth covering the surgery table, then forcefully pushed the table away, revealing a coffin placed underneath it.

The black and red coffin was exactly stuck under the surgery table, the gaps in the coffin lid stained with dried blood and some remnants of tiny insects.

Wiping off the dirt on the surface of the coffin, one could see a crooked sentence inscribed: "I died here, and you will die here too."

Below that sentence was a face torn from a model, cut into pieces, and then gradually pieced together on the coffin.

"This looks kind of gross," Xiao Chen didn’t want to approach casually, and other celebrities stood still too.

"I remember there was a face beneath Xia Yilan’s photo in the security room; this level probably requires her script to pass through smoothly," Li Huang frowned. Now that Xia Yilan had disappeared, they felt stuck.

Grabbing the coffin lid, Han Fei tried to open it but couldn’t. He tore off a leg from a nearby chair and finally pried the lid open forcefully.

"Did you used to rob tombs or something?" Observing Han Fei’s straightforward actions, Li Huang was puzzled. If Han Fei were the murderer, why would he help them pass through? He seemed always in a hurry, as if eager to confirm something.

"Found the torso," Han Fei said as he moved a red-cloth-wrapped female torso prop from the coffin; the torso belonged to a woman, lacking limbs, head, and most internal organs.

"A severed leg, two severed arms, and the torso have been found; the body in the elevator will soon be completely assembled," Han Fei said, carrying the female corpse’s torso, looking back at the other actors, "This thing is pretty heavy; let’s take turns carrying it, guys."

The distant actors neither nodded nor shook their heads; their faces all showed a refusal.

The female corpse’s prop was made very realistically and was especially heavy. If they encountered any danger, carrying it would certainly slow them down.

"We’re filming a show right now; can you at least pretend a bit? Aren’t you usually good at performing while wearing a mask?" Han Fei felt he truly couldn’t rely on these people.

"How about I carry it with you?" Li Huang was different from typical vase actors; her muscles looked quite impressive when she exerted force.

"Never mind, I’ll do it myself," Han Fei carried the female corpse’s torso on his shoulder, a sight that looked particularly chilling, but he seemed completely unfazed.

As they turned to head downstairs, just as Alin turned around, the other actors all froze for a moment.

The closest to Alin, Li Huang also slowly took a step back, staring at Alin’s back with a pale face.

Noticing that no one was following, Alin still didn’t realize what had happened, "What’s wrong with you guys?"

"Alin, did you feel anything strange when you were going upstairs?" Li Huang’s expression was stiff.

"Not at all!" Alin looked puzzled, "Don’t scare me! What exactly is going on?"

"Look at your own back." Li Huang slowly approached and pulled up Alin’s shirt.

Alin’s back was covered with red paint handprints from children, densely packed as though many children had been grabbing her shirt to move forward!
