Chapter 533: Chapter 533: Perfect Personality for E-level Task (6000 Votes Requested for Monthly Ticket)
"Player 0000, please be advised! You have successfully discovered the Level E Hidden Map—Plastic Surgery Hospital!"
"Attention! The Slaughter Map has been activated! This building poses extreme danger!"
Han Fei emerged from the shadow at the street corner, followed by a towering faceless doctor, a woman in bizarre clothing, and a moving shadow.
"Is this the Plastic Surgery Hospital?"
Gazing at the buildings before him, Han Fei felt an unreal sensation.
He had visited the Plastic Surgery Hospital established by Eternal Life Pharmaceutical in reality, but it was far less shocking than the one in Deep World.
The continuous wards were stitched together, and various twisted structures formed a giant fractured face.
"There are many patients hidden in the hospital, and six plastic surgeons, we must be careful." The warning written in blood emerged on the wall, Doctor Yan kept reminding Han Fei, who couldn’t believe that Han Fei dared to go directly into the Plastic Surgery Hospital.
"Don’t worry, I’m confident." Han Fei’s item bar was already stocked with enough meat, which he could use to consume life value to release the fog inside his soul, thereby concealing the group’s figures.
Under Doctor Yan’s guidance, they easily entered the Plastic Surgery Hospital via a secret passage.
Crossing corridors crisscrossed like a maze, where even the patients would get lost occasionally, Han Fei truly wondered how Shen Luo had managed to make his way to the most dangerous room step by step.
"Something’s off." Doctor Yan stopped after passing two crossroads, writing on his white coat: "Normally, there should be a large number of patients around, but they have all disappeared. Something must have happened in the hospital."
If Doctor Yan said so, there must have been some change in the Plastic Surgery Hospital, but Han Fei didn’t want to miss this rare opportunity.
Eighteen players had entered Lost Paradise, all elite members from various studios. If they all died in the game, the impact would be enormous.
He estimated that soon the Black Box Hunters, blinded by greed, would venture into the maze without regard for their safety.
If left unchecked, the players might attract the notice of unspeakable entities, consequences of which could be unimaginable.
Han Fei was running out of time, so he had to seize this chance to break the balance of power between the Death Building and the Plastic Surgery Hospital.
With Doctor Yan’s help in navigating, it still took Han Fei and his companions a long time to traverse the hospital’s interior, as complex as the human heart.
"Why isn’t there anyone? Nevermind. Let’s not overthink it. Let’s just destroy the Shrine!"
After about fifteen minutes, Big Evil, who had been following at the rear of the group, suddenly became excited. It frantically signaled something to Han Fei and started speeding off in a particular direction.
"Don’t run too fast!" Han Fei called out, but Big Evil had already bolted, forcing the rest to chase after it.
Following the stairs level by level, they walked for a long time inside the building that resembled a fractured face, finally stopping outside a partially open door on the third floor.
The room didn’t seem much different from the others; the only distinction was the door marked with the characters for Eternal Life.
Upon closer inspection, it was clear those characters seemed to be comprised of numerous spells. Touching the door would trigger an onslaught of curses.
"Who opened the door?"
The group peered inside the room, each seemingly perceiving a different scene.
Zhuang Wen saw endless blood and faces torn asunder, Han Fei saw only darkness, while Big Evil anxiously urged Han Fei to enter, as if it had found the deepest hidden Shrine of the Plastic Surgery Hospital.
"Once we enter this room, the three hatreds will immediately return, so regardless of what we find, we must leave within ten minutes." Doctor Yan wrote in his own blood, now somewhat frightened. He originally thought Han Fei was a cultured and reasonable person, but after boarding the proverbial pirate ship, he realized Han Fei was a reckless gambler, seizing any opportunity to stake his life without hesitation.
"Alright, let’s go in and take a look. Be careful not to touch the door." Before Han Fei could finish speaking, Big Evil, obeying Han Fei’s command, charged into the room. Its massive body slammed the door open, and the characters for Eternal Life turned into a dense swarm of curses spreading throughout the room.
It’s worth noting that Zhuang Wen, shrouded in a death curse, was unafraid of the spells. Han Fei had been ingesting curse-containing meat, so his curse resistance was high; Big Evil suppressed the unspeakable curse, also granting it immunity to most spells. Out of the group, only Doctor Yan’s face oozed trails of black blood.
"Be careful." Han Fei drew out the Rebirth Saber, and as the light of humanity scattered the darkness, a boundless hatred suddenly stabbed at his chest!
In the critical moment, Zhuang Wen’s hand, ablaze with Hatred Black Fire, shielded Han Fei.
With the light from the Rebirth Saber, Han Fei was finally able to see clearly inside the room.
The ceiling, floor, and walls, everything around was made of human bodies, and in the center of the room stood a huge Shrine!
Nearly three meters tall, the Shrine exuded an aura far more terrifying than any Shrine Han Fei had encountered before.
At the moment, the black cloth that had been covering the Shrine was on the floor, and the Divine Door of the Shrine was open. A faceless woman’s torso was half-embedded in the Shrine, as if she was trying to take possession of it!
"The Painter and White Shoes are not here. Is the faceless woman trying to seize the opportunity to control the Shrine?" Han Fei realized the situation and without hesitating for even half a second, he loudly ordered, "Attack!"
Han Fei not only wanted to seriously injure the faceless woman but also destroy the shrine.
Drawing his sword, Han Fei, Zhuang Wen, and Big Evil sprinted forward. They were so decisive that Doctor Yan had not even reacted before the Hatred Black Fire on Zhuang Wen’s body had already begun to burn on the faceless woman.
Countless wails and screams emanated from the room pieced together from human bodies, but the two filled with hatred did not have the slightest intention to sympathize with them.
Although Zhuang Wen had only just become the embodiment of hatred, her black fire contained not only the most terrifying Death Curse from the Death Building but also a chilling intent to kill with her ten fingers. Anyone she touched would die.
As Zhuang Wen clashed with the faceless woman, Big Evil rushed toward the shrine, this avatar of disaster and ill-omen fighting for the entrance into the shrine with the faceless woman.
Screams erupted as the faceless woman, who was halfway merged with the shrine, was brutally slammed by Big Evil.
A woman with a pathological pursuit of beauty was already on the brink of madness just by looking at Big Evil’s ugly and terrifying appearance.
The faceless woman’s inner hatred wanted to tear Big Evil apart, but with each attack on Big Evil, her Soul Body would be contaminated with a special kind of Soul Poison.
Unable to kill and even damaging her own soul.
Now unable to exhibit her full strength, the faceless woman just wanted to delay as much as possible. But at that moment, a terrible feeling arose within her, as her blank face turned towards Han Fei.
Han Fei, holding the Rebirth Saber silently approached the shrine. Using Art Appreciation, he discovered the faceless woman’s weak point, and with the Fog in his soul, he hid his form until he neared the edge of the shrine before the faceless woman noticed him.
"Rebirth!"
He swung the sword with all his might, and the faceless woman seemed to know what would happen if she were struck by this saber.
She had already merged more than half of her body into the shrine, and it was now too late to retreat.
To prevent being critically wounded, the part of her body still outside of the shrine broke into fragments as if directly sacrificed to the shrine.
The Divine Door was completely opened, and although the faceless woman wanted to retaliate against Han Fei at the end, Big Evil had already madly dashed into the shrine.
The blank face of the woman was already infuriated to the point of shattering. Her skin scraps and the room pieced together from human bodies began to contract inward.
Zhuang Wen tried to attack the walls with the Hatred Black Fire, but it was not very effective.
Initially, Han Fei intended for Big Evil to destroy the shrine, but now Big Evil had entered the shrine first, leaving them no other choice.
Not wanting to be crushed, they could only follow and enter the shrine together.
"This time with Zhuang Wen, Doctor Yan, and Big Evil accompanying me, it shouldn’t be as difficult as last time," Han Fei reached for the disappearing spike of Big Evil, looked back at Zhuang Wen and Doctor Yan, "Don’t hesitate, let’s go together!"
Zhuang Wen, cloaked in a coat of desire, directly entered, while Doctor Yan’s face streamed with blood tears, being dragged in by Zhuang Wen.
The room pieced together from human bodies and the faceless woman’s body fragments all became Sacrificial Offerings for the shrine and were swiftly consumed by it.
The room returned to calm, and the Divine Door slowly closed.
"Attention, Player No. 0000! You have successfully triggered an E-level Shrine Inheritance Task — Perfect Personality!"
"Perfect Personality (Shrine Inheritance Task available only to players with a shrine): Fulfill the former Master of Shrine’s last wish, make up for the regrets in his memory, and gain his approval."
"Note! Due to the vast difference between the player’s Level and the task’s Level, additional hints will be provided!"
"Hint One: The Shrine Inheritance Task is not completely the same as the Manager’s task. Every time the player dies, there is a very high chance of being assimilated by the Master of Shrine’s memories! Please be extremely careful!"
"Hint Two: There might not be a perfect Personality in the world."
"Hint Three: Charm can help you escape many troubles."
"Hint Four: Hidden within the Shrine Memory World is a Memory Fragment of Fu Sheng, who is key to everything."
The more hints provided, the more dangerous the situation implied. As Han Fei listened to the four hints in a daze, his heart nearly froze...
An icy touch on his cheek made Han Fei feel as if his body was being dragged by some force. Dazed, he opened his eyes to see a woman in an apron dragging him towards the bedroom.
Survival instincts kicked in, and Han Fei began to struggle. He tried to get up from the ground, but his body seemed paralyzed by alcohol, completely uncontrollable.
Bright light shone on his face, and Han Fei could smell the pungent alcohol emanating from himself, and saw the shattered ceramics beside the dining table.
The woman struggled to drag Han Fei to the bed, but after several attempts, she failed to pull him onto it.
Han Fei continually tried to control his body, but in the end, the most he could do was weakly move his arms. The alcohol made it hard for him even to speak clearly or think quickly.
Unable to get Han Fei onto the bed, the woman took a pillow from the wardrobe to cushion his head, and also found a mattress and blanket for him.
The woman moved skillfully, it must not have been her first time doing this.
After turning off the bedroom light, the woman prepared to leave, and Han Fei used the last bit of his strength to murmur a thank you.
Hearing the voice, the woman seemed to doubt she heard correctly, staring at Han Fei’s face for a good while before moving to the living room.
She crouched down to clean up the broken dishes, and then found a burlap cloth to wipe away the scattered soup and porridge on the floor.
Scrubbing bit by bit, she meticulously cleaned the joints in the floor tiles. While doing so, she suddenly burst into tears.
The living room light shone solely on her, making her appear especially vulnerable.
"Mommy, why are you crying?" The door of another bedroom opened, and a four or five-year-old boy stood at the doorway, looking exceptionally adorable.
"Mommy’s fine, go back to bed and sleep," the woman wiped away her tears, not wanting her child to see her weak side.
"Did you and Daddy fight again?"
"Fu Tian, go back to sleep now!" The woman put down the burlap, entered the child’s bedroom, and after about half an hour spent soothing the boy back to sleep, she continued cleaning up the living room.
The boy liked to run around barefoot, and the glass shards in the tile joints could easily cut him, so the woman cleaned very thoroughly.
After she finished cleaning, the living room looked brand new, and the wall clock pointed to one o’clock in the morning.
Sitting on the sofa with some tiredness, the woman pulled out a cellphone from a suit jacket that reeked of alcohol on the floor.
After entering the lock screen password, she began to look through the messages, her expression growing increasingly desperate, until finally she shoved the phone back into the suit, covered her face, and cried again.
The clock’s ticking continued, and at two o’clock in the morning, the woman slowly lifted her head, her eyes swollen red as she looked at Han Fei lying on the bedroom floor.
She then walked into the kitchen barefoot, not bothering with slippers.
A moment later, she walked out of the kitchen with a sharp knife in hand, slowly approaching the bedroom door.
Throughout the process, she didn’t make a sound, as if she had gone through this scene countless times before.
The sharp knife glittered in her hand, reversed in grip, as the woman looked at Han Fei’s face, her expression extremely complex.
She seemed about to raise the knife several times, but each time she eventually lowered it.
It wasn’t until minutes later, when some noise came from the rooftop, that the woman quickly left, returning the knife to its place.
After the woman left, Han Fei’s eyes cracked open a sliver; he was nearly scared to death.
Alcohol had numbed his body, and he was completely immobile. If the woman had struck with the knife, he truly would have had no chance.
"That child just now was called Fu Tian by his mother. The former chairman of Eternal Life Pharmaceutical was also named Fu Tian. Have I now become the father of the Fu brothers? The Old Building Chief is really not holding back, is he?"
Last time he entered Memory World, Han Fei, with Mirror God’s assistance, directly stepped into the life of the Master of Shrine, experiencing his entire life. This time things were a bit different; it seemed like he had stepped into someone else’s life.
Still feeling groggy, Han Fei saw the woman turn off the living room lights and finally could no longer stay awake, slowly drifting off to sleep.
"Swoosh!"
The sound of curtains being drawn woke him up, with sunlight hitting Han Fei’s face. He massaged his groggy head, slowly opening his eyes.
With the hangover, his throat was parched, and his head ached terribly.
He struggled to get up from the mattress, and turning his head, he saw the woman who, after opening the curtains, handed him a glass of water.
"Thank you," Han Fei took the glass, instinctively uttering his thanks, which made the woman slightly freeze.
"Breakfast is ready. Eat up and get ready for work," the woman said, then left the bedroom. Her tone lacked anger, and was devoid of much emotion.
After gulping down a full glass of water, Han Fei took the opportunity to check the Attribute Panel.
"Attention player number 0000! Your current hunger level is forty."
"Your current physical condition is average, and this condition will affect your various physical attributes."
"Your current mental state is slightly low, with a mood value of fifty. When your mood value falls below fifty, your physical attributes will slowly decrease."
Seeing the new prompts, Han Fei knew he had triggered another Shrine Inheritance Task and he would once again need to make up for the regrets left by the Master of Shrine.
"I seem to have become Fu Sheng’s father. I’ve never experienced such a role nor felt love from a father. How am I supposed to use this identity to help him make up for his regrets?"
Unlike the last Shrine task, Han Fei had almost received no hints this time.
After getting up from the ground, Han Fei first went to the bathroom to wash up, then sat down at the dining table.
The dining table had exactly four chairs placed around it, and the adorable little boy, holding a spoon, sat very obediently in his own seat, not daring to speak out as he seemed somewhat afraid of Han Fei.
Since Han Fei didn’t move his chopsticks, the boy didn’t dare to fuss about either.
"The dishes taste really good today," Han Fei remarked in surprise after taking a bite, of course, he also wanted to lavish the other person with praise, hoping they would show mercy and spare his life.
The woman ignored Han Fei. She took a tray separately, scooped up a bowl of rice, and placed some dishes on a small plate.
After preparing everything, she headed upstairs, knocking on a certain room’s door, "The porridge is still hot; I’ve left it at the door for you."
Sighing softly, the woman returned downstairs and also sat at the dining table.
"Why isn’t he coming down to eat?" Han Fei looked at the empty space next to him.
"Haven’t you sobered up yet? Why do you seem so odd today?" the woman asked Han Fei, puzzled.
"Right, dad usually goes up to knock on the door, saying if you don’t love to eat then..." the little boy imitated earnestly until the woman scolded him.
Looking pitiful, the boy lowered his head and dared not speak again. He began to sip his porridge with his small spoon.
"Hurry up and eat, didn’t you say you have an important meeting today?" After reminding him, the woman went to the bedroom to fetch a new suit, "I’ve also charged your phone."
Han Fei had always lived alone and had never been taken care of by anyone, which made him feel quite embarrassed.
"This is what marriage is, huh? Wanting to kill each other at night, but taking such good care of me during the day."
While praising the woman’s cooking skills, Han Fei ate his meal until the woman urged him that he was almost late for work. He hurriedly changed his clothes, grabbed his briefcase, and walked towards the door.
The woman escorted Han Fei to the door, and as he opened it, she asked in a soft voice, "Will you come home for dinner tonight?"
"I will!" Han Fei replied decisively before rushing out the door.
Looking around, Han Fei realized he was living in a nice place, a rather upscale residence, "Finally, I don’t have to worry about money anymore."
Taking out his phone from his pocket, Han Fei didn’t even know where the company was located; all the information he needed was in this phone.
"Last night, that woman seemed to press these numbers." Han Fei mimicked the direction the woman pressed, trying three times and finally succeeding on the fourth try, "001221? Is this someone’s birthday?"
Entering the elevator, Han Fei started to go through his contact list and social chat history.
He discovered he had three social media accounts, one for work, one for staying in touch with family and friends, and another secret account always set to invisible.
"So I’m a game designer, working for a company called... Eternal Life?" Han Fei first looked through his work account, all the content was quite ordinary.
Next, he checked the account for keeping in touch with family and friends. His wife had sent him lots of messages, but his replies were always short, mostly about working overtime, sudden meetings, or not coming home for dinner that night and so on.
Apart from his wife, Han Fei talked the most with a female colleague named Li Guo’er, with a screen name Luck Fruit.
This colleague was three years younger than Han Fei, unmarried, often asked him for advice, and occasionally comforted Han Fei when he was feeling down, but overall, their conversations were also quite normal.
Finally, Han Fei looked at the hidden account. Upon opening it, his face twitched slightly.
He found out he was simultaneously chatting with four women, the content being quite flirtatious.
"Is Fu Sheng’s dad a playboy? This touches an area of knowledge I’m unaware of..." Han Fei broke into a cold sweat, beginning to understand why Fu Sheng would keep himself locked in the room and not willing to come out; he seemed to harbor a strong dislike for his father.
"In the middle of a Shrine Inheritance Task, have I become the person the Master of Shrine loathes the most?"
Thinking of a strategy, Han Fei left the elevator and walked outside the apartment. He kept his head down, browsing through those flirtatious chat records. As he walked, he suddenly heard someone shouting.
Turning his head, a woman with a familiar face was driving a car straight towards him!
Jumping back, if Han Fei hadn’t been quick enough, he probably would have been launched three meters away by now.
Seeing that Han Fei had dodged, the driver didn’t continue; she just drove off.
"That woman looked like the one in this photo, is she Li Guo’er?" Han Fei didn’t dare use the main road anymore. Just as he detoured to a small alley, a huge mirror shattered right beside him, and it seemed as if a faceless woman flashed through amongst the shards.
His mood value dropped a little, and Han Fei quickly retreated under the sunlight, "What does this mean? Does my wife want to kill me? Does my female colleague also want to kill me? And there’s a persisting female ghost? I’ve never even held a girl’s hand; I can’t handle this situation!"
