Chapter 365: Annihilate!
Chapter 365: Chapter 365: Annihilate!
"Haven’t you opened the bedroom door yet?"
Inside room 4064, the homeowner would definitely not sit by and watch their child get hurt. This is where Han Fei’s true confidence lies.
He has the ability to delay time, but in terms of pure strength, he was far inferior to the monster in the blood clothes. Normally, his first choice upon encountering a Soul Chaser in the Death Building would definitely be to flee.
The stage was set, and Han Fei glanced quickly at the closed door beside him with the corner of his eye. It was as if it was locked from the inside—the boy could not open it no matter how hard he tried.
"What is in the bedroom that Laisheng can’t see? What are his parents hiding?"
The monster in blood clothes didn’t give Han Fei much time to think. The creature perched on the ceiling, its face covered with death curses like crawling insects, obscured its original features, with even the eyeballs containing black text.
The opened mouth still held half a tongue, and red blood flowed from the monster’s mouth down towards the floor, turning into a black, putrid-smelling residue in the short two or three meters from the ceiling to the ground.
The monster’s target seemed not to be Han Fei initially—each Soul Chaser had its own prey, and for the monster before him, it was Laisheng.
The death curses tore at the skin, ripping the monster’s face into two parts.
The left side still clung normally to the face, while the right part had completely transformed into a mass of blood and flesh resembling a monster, like a giant python viciously biting at Laisheng.
The scene before him had no connection to healing, and it was Laisheng’s first time witnessing such a horrific monster. He instinctively called out his mother’s name.
However, he only called out once before covering his mouth. It seemed he was worried that his mother would be harmed by the terrifying monster outside as well.
Desperately twisting the doorknob, the boy held back his tears and pounded on the door; he wanted to get inside to warn his mother and urge her to leave quickly.
Having already lost his father, he did not want to lose another loved one—at least that’s what he believed.
"Nine-life!"
Ghost patterns like teal scars were embedded in the flesh, resembling a cat-like monster struggling and screaming within their confines. Its voice echoed through the room, piercing the hold of the ghost patterns.
Han Fei still couldn’t fully utilize the power of Nine-life. He was now merely enveloped by Nine-life’s dark energy, which enhanced his defensive strength while he, too, was invaded by the dark energy.
His already injured body couldn’t hold out for long. If the owner of room 4064 really did not want to get involved, then he would try to leave with Laisheng.
He tossed the blood-colored Paperman towards Laisheng, blocking the deformed blood and flesh splitting from the monster’s face. Only then did Han Fei start to focus on fighting the Soul Chaser.
"The Death Building is a Level E map, with the corresponding player levels around thirty-five. Can I really fight against the monsters here?"
Han Fei himself was also slightly unsure, but this trace of uncertainty was quickly replaced by other emotions.
In other games, players can waver or shrink back in battle, but in "Perfect Life," such concerns didn’t exist because there were no chances for players to choose or go back. If you cannot beat them, you run; if you can’t escape, you die. What about resurrection saves? Forget it, the ghosts in the Death Building can completely consume a player’s soul.
The soul and flesh split from the monster’s face were entangled with the Paperman, while its other half-face kept its gaze on Han Fei.
It seemed to be the first time this monster had encountered such an odd soul, not like a ghost but not quite like a human either—able to see itself and yet completely unafraid.
With a slight twitch of its spine, two huge lumps bulged on the back of the monster in blood clothes, and flesh gathered together as if sharp spikes penetrated its back.
The blood clothes were torn apart, exposing its body full of death curses.
"How many things can this guy split off?" In the Death Building, it seemed that every Soul Chaser had different abilities. Han Fei didn’t dare delay any further. Taking advantage of the flesh spikes not yet fully bursting from its back, he charged forward with his saber.
When wielding a saber, you can’t be timid or hesitant, especially a saber imbued with conviction and humanity. It was extremely sharp because everyone who followed Han Fei believed that this saber could cut through injustice and evil.
Han Fei had the sharpest weapon. What he lacked was everything else besides attacking power.
The monster in blood clothes had just had its tongue severed and knew Han Fei’s saber could harm it. At that moment, it shared the same thought as Han Fei—It must avoid being touched by him!
The dense death curses merged into its fingers, turning them into talons. Merely glancing at them felt as if the soul would be hooked away.
"The aura this blood clothes man emits is completely different from the first Soul Chaser I encountered. The madman chasing after my soul only needed to touch me to hook my soul away, but this blood clothes man seems to require the assistance of death curses to use his claws to hook souls."
All evidence suggested that the Soul Chaser before him was not unbeatable.
"Rebirth!"
Han Fei suddenly accelerated, colliding with the ghost with his living flesh. The saber of humanity in his hand illuminated the entire room 4064!
The little boy felt as if he saw the life torch Han Fei had once told him about—the current Han Fei was using his memories, experience, and life to fuel his own fire.
The blade came down, wide swings and ruthless cuts, as Han Fei rapidly closed the distance between himself and the man in blood clothes, targeting vital spots with every strike.
The man whose face was covered in black writing stared at Han Fei, his body seemingly able to disassemble itself at any moment, like a many-handed gecko scurrying within the room.
The pristine white walls were smeared with red handprints, and spikes protruded from the man’s back, piercing through his skin and wrapping around Han Fei’s neck like the tentacles of an octopus.
Leaping forward, Han Fei was fast, but still nowhere near as fast as the monster.
Barely dodging the spikes, Han Fei hadn’t yet risen from the ground when the monster’s head twisted a full one hundred eighty degrees, hanging upside down as it opened its mouth toward Han Fei’s back.
The Death Curse tore at the corners of the mouth, revealing rows of sharp teeth inscribed with the character for death, and a severed tongue, like a sharp arrow, shot towards Han Fei’s heart.
With no chance to dodge at such close range, Han Fei, in a moment of desperate ingenuity, took out the Wish Jar he had acquired at Yimin Private Academy from his item bar.
The severed tongue shot directly into the Wish Jar, and countless strips of paper inscribed with students’ wishes fell out, their desires erased, leaving behind only the sinister characters for death.
The Wish Jar that had shielded Han Fei from disaster was now covered in countless cracks, and from within it came a piercing scream. The ghost within the jar, already severely injured and biding its time to retaliate against Han Fei, found itself growing even more wounded.
The jar trapped the severed tongue, making it difficult for the man in blood clothes to shatter it in a short time, but his target wasn’t Han Fei to begin with.
Every Soul Chaser had its own prey, and tonight, his was to take Laisheng away!
The earlier assault had driven Han Fei back, and the man in blood clothes rapidly climbed the walls, heading straight for the little boy!
Its speed was simply too fast. Han Fei had already sprung up and dashed toward the bedroom door, but it was still too late.
The claw inscribed with curses was already raised, about to come crashing down on the boy’s head!
"Dodge!" shouted Han Fei as he threw the Rebirth Saber in his hand. The sharp blade left his grip and began to fade; yet before the last glimmer of light vanished, the blade managed to pierce the raised palm of the man in blood clothes, nailing it to the wall.
The Death Curse on the monster’s face boiled like scalding water, and the agony drove it into a frenzy as it tore off one of its own hands.
The dim blade’s light pinned the severed hand to the wall, and now the monster raised another hand, the Death Curse twining around its fingers while the little boy was so frightened he dared not move an inch.
Even a child who appears mature for his age would halt all cognitive processes at the sight of such horror.
The razor-sharp finger dripped with black blood, nearing the boy’s eyeball. Just as the finger, laden with Death Curse, was about to puncture the boy’s eye, the monster in blood clothes suddenly stepped back.
The boy, who had closed his eyes expecting pain, felt nothing. When he opened his eyes again, the scene before him would forever be etched into the depths of his heart.
Han Fei’s hands grasped a red chain covered with animal fur, and with it, he had wrapped around the neck of the monster in blood clothes, straining with all his might to drag it backwards!
A living person was fiercely resisting the spine of an Evil Ghost, clutching its neck!
"Don’t just stand there! Hide!"
Veins bulged on his face, but Han Fei’s strength was no match for the monster in blood clothes; that he had managed to struggle until now was a miracle in itself.
The monster grew spikes from its back that plunged into Han Fei’s forearm, flinging him over its head and smashing him against the bedroom door.
Han Fei’s arm was already injured, but still, he struggled to his feet, intent on grasping the Rebirth Saber, a weapon imbued with humanity.
Faint voices seemed to emanate from the hilt of the blade as if responding to Han Fei’s call.
The dim blade began to glow anew, but Han Fei was still too far from the man in blood clothes.
The hand wrapped in Death Curse reached out towards Laisheng’s head again, and as the Death Curse-congealed fingertips were about to touch Laisheng’s hair, the previously immovable bedroom door flew open. An arm inscribed with Death Curse extended from within, firmly grasping the monster’s wrist!
The fingers clenched, and the hand bowl of the monster in blood clothes crumbled to pieces under the pressure, and amidst its screams, an overwhelmingly stifling aura wafted out from the bedroom.
Turning his head, Laisheng saw a towering figure behind him, also clad in blood clothes and inscribed with Death Curse, only one eye maintaining clarity.
Staring at the monster emerging from the bedroom, Laisheng, almost without thinking, blurted out.
"Daddy!"
