Chapter 334: The Butterfly’s Wardrobe
Chapter 334: Chapter 334: The Butterfly’s Wardrobe
All coincidences were hooked together, forming inevitability.
The struggle between Butterfly and Spider continued, and from the results, it seemed that Spider had a slight advantage in the end.
Han Fei listened patiently to the old man in black recount the secrets within the building, including the various deeds the Manager had done there. In the Manager’s eyes, apart from itself, all other Owners, Grudges, and Outsiders were merely tools.
Any Owner in the building with a butterfly pattern on their body had once suffered at the hands of the Manager and had miraculously survived. They deeply understood the terror of the Manager.
"There are four residential buildings in the Death Building complex, and the Manager always stays inside Building Four, rarely coming out. However, some residents suspect that there is a very special room inside Building Four, a room that leads to any place within Death Building. That room is also the Atrium of the Death Building Manager; to truly kill the Manager, one must first find that room," the old man in black said, having never even considered standing up to the Death Building Manager before, but now, in order to survive, she continued reluctantly following Han Fei’s words: "No one knows where that room is, everyone only knows that the room’s door number seems to be 4444."
"Normally, Death Building shouldn’t have this room number, so wanting to get to that room by normal means is definitely out of the question," Han Fei looked toward the wardrobe, feeling it was necessary to give it a try.
After pondering for a moment, Han Fei made a decision. He wanted to first gain the recognition of the other Owners, to bind everyone together on the same boat, and then attempt to enter the wardrobe.
Leaving the bride in room 1144, Han Fei took others to visit the Owners floor by floor, knocking on doors to persuade them.
He conquered the surviving Owners in Building One with his unique personal charm, and after gaining their approval, the system provided Han Fei with a notification.
"Player Number 0000, please note! Through relentless effort, you have successfully acquired the Hidden Profession — Death Building Security Guard!"
"Would you like to set it as your Primary Profession?"
"No!"
"Player Number 0000, please note! You have successfully acquired a Side Profession — Death Building Security Guard! Randomly obtain two out of four Professional Talents from Death Building Security Guard!"
"Professional Talent one, Cheat Death: When the Death Curse triggers, there’s a 10% chance to avoid certain death!"
"Professional Talent two, Patrol: After midnight strikes, running speed increases!"
"Attention! Advancement in side professions and part-time roles are extremely difficult, and Professional Talent upgrades require three times the Experience."
"Now having two professions, you’ve gradually become familiar with professional life; you’ve seen more of the world, and your Perfect Life has become more colorful!"
"Where’s the color in all this blood red?" Han Fei tried running a few steps in the corridor and found that the profession of Death Building Security Guard was more useful than he’d imagined. Just the talent of increased running speed after midnight alone made him feel it was a big win.
Returning to room 1144, Han Fei sat on the bed and silently stared at the wardrobe door, his gaze calm as if thinking about something very important.
No one in the room dared disturb him, and after a long time, when the exit button lit up, Han Fei stood up and walked over to the wardrobe.
"We can’t miss this opportunity; let’s go in together."
Han Fei, unburdened by concerns, held the chain, and stood together with Madman and Red Skirt, then coldly looked at the old man in black.
"Surviving in this building is already quite difficult, why bother courting trouble? If Hatred couldn’t manage it, do you think you can?" the old man in black reluctantly approached the wardrobe. As she touched the wardrobe door, the veins on the surface of the cabinet slowly bulged, eerily opening, as if alive.
Blood vessels were creeping along the walls, a pungent smell wafting from the cracks of the wardrobe doors, and before the old man in black had fully opened them, an arm grabbed her and pulled her straight into the wardrobe.
A "person" just disappeared like that, and Madman cautiously retreated in fear.
"You are the Manager’s backup plan; they won’t hurt you. Instead, you can use that to your advantage to kill them," Han Fei imparted his experience to Madman, leaving it unclear who was the real madman.
As the time neared four in the morning, the wardrobe was undergoing continuous changes. Han Fei didn’t delay any longer; he and Red Skirt opened the wardrobe together.
The clothes hanging in the wardrobe were covered in bloodstains, in great numbers.
Red Skirt went in first, then she reached out to Han Fei.
Han Fei grabbed her wrist and entered the wardrobe with Madman. He pushed aside the clothes in front of him, but to his surprise, there seemed to be more and more of them, and the bloodstains on them were getting darker and more pronounced, as if each piece of clothing was actually a blood-drenched person hanging on a rack.
From the outside, the wardrobe didn’t seem large, but once inside, it felt as though they were trapped in a labyrinth, surrounded by blood-red clothes.
At this time, the only thing that could give Han Fei a sense of security was Red Skirt, but as they walked, Han Fei noticed something was off.
The arm he was holding wore red clothes, but it didn’t seem to be a skirt.
"An illusion interference?"
The other party didn’t stop moving, and Han Fei didn’t dare to let go. He first turned his head to look back; Madman was not following behind him.
When he looked forward again, all that was left in his hand was a piece of blood-red sleeve.
Clutching the sleeve, standing still, he was surrounded by blood clothes. Each piece of blood clothes seemed to represent the soul of a person who had died unjustly.
"Is this Butterfly’s wardrobe? It excels at manipulating hearts and human nature. Are these foul-smelling hides its clothes?"
Han Fei didn’t act rashly; he knew that many Curse Items possessed unique abilities. Once the curse carried by the item itself was triggered, the situation would become even more passive.
"I watched Red Skirt enter the wardrobe with my own eyes. She’s a Large-scaled Grudge, and ordinary F-grade Curse Items cannot trap her, so the safest course of action right now is to wait here."
Han Fei, whose exit key was lit up, was unafraid. He also had one last cigarette left in his Item Bar that he hadn’t used, so if he really encountered danger, he could light one to calm himself down.
If the enemy doesn’t move, I won’t move.
About a dozen seconds later, something in the distance touched the blood clothes, causing them to slowly sway; something was crawling within the wardrobe.
With the Blood-colored Paperman on his shoulder and the Rebirth Slaughter Saber in hand, Han Fei crouched down. He stared at the slowly swaying blood clothes and finally locked in on a certain direction.
The creature deep in the wardrobe seemed to have sensed something amiss as well, with long, grey-white arms reaching out from behind the blood clothes, searching through them piece by piece. The rustling sound was enough to torture a normal person into madness.
As the distance between them grew shorter, Han Fei held his breath, ready for the fight.
