Chapter 314: Chapter 314: Skirts Are Not For Wearing

After 3:44 AM, the building was indeed different; Han Fei had triggered two F-rank hidden missions in a very short time, which was telling.

Patrolling and running to room 1244 seemed like very simple tasks at first glance, but the simpler the task, the more Han Fei worried. He was acutely aware of the difficulty of F-rank missions.

The simpler the task appeared, the more trouble one might encounter in completing it.

"She’s coming after us!"

Han Fei clenched his teeth; the woman who had fallen from the floors above would kill all "things" she saw. She was methodically making her way up, and the only way to break this pattern was by going to room 1244.

Room 1244 was one of the three most dangerous rooms in building one, but Han Fei had no other choice but to run there!

Only by completing the mission could he exit the game. For someone who might not even see tomorrow, staying alive was the most crucial thing.

Brother Hua and Xiaofang hadn’t yet grasped the gravity of the situation until they saw Han Fei ignoring his injuries and running upstairs, blood spurting from his wounds and risking his life. This completely unleashed their fear.

People have a herd mentality, and fear can spread and infect in this way. After continuous scares, they were already at their limit. Although their minds still harbored doubts, their bodies had honestly started moving, running even faster than Han Fei.

Gasping for breath, they reached the seventeenth floor. Han Fei grabbed the stair railing and looked down. That glance nearly scared his soul out of him.

The arms that were once on the eighth floor had now reached the eleventh floor, only six floors below.

The woman seemed to have realized she was being pursued, her speed increasing ever more.

"Don’t run around blindly! You can’t just go to any floor upstairs!", Brother Hua’s voice oozed with urgency. While running between the seventeenth and eighteenth floors, he desperately tried to get Han Fei and Xiaofang to calm down, "If the safety door on the eighteenth floor is open, we’ll bypass this area and take the other side up!"

Xiaofang was running wildly and didn’t pay attention to Brother Hua’s words.

Han Fei did hear him, but now he dared not stop.

The motion-sensitive lights on the seventeenth floor had gone off, and in the pitch-black hallway, the beam of the flashlight frantically moved. When the light reached the corridor of the eighteenth floor, the three security guards saw the safety door wide open.

The safety door on the eighteenth floor was unlike the doors on other floors; the inside of the door was covered with all sorts of bizarre talisman papers.

"Stop! Quick, stop!" Seeing the open safety door on the eighteenth floor, Brother Hua yelled urgently, but Xiaofang and Han Fei, who were at the front, showed no signs of slowing down.

They quickly reached the eighteenth floor, and just as they were about to run to the nineteenth floor, they suddenly spotted a gaunt middle-aged man squatting in the middle of the stairs.

The man was dressed in white mourning clothes, stuffed with paper money.

Xiaofang had never seen this middle-aged man in the building before, so he stopped in his tracks, but Han Fei didn’t care for such subtleties and immediately shook free the Red Skirt.

"Big brother, today I’ll bring you some cheer!"

Brother Hua flung the Talisman Paper open, and Han Fei charged upstairs—he was truly risking his life now. Anything was fair game, just to exit the game.

As Han Fei rushed forward, the middle-aged man in mourning attire stepped aside. But as Xiaofang ran past him, the man suddenly reached out towards Xiaofang.

"Quick! Give him something, anything!" Brother Hua yelled from behind, but it was already too late—the man’s hand reached Xiaofang’s chest.

Without even seeing him do anything, Xiaofang went down as if he had fallen asleep, thudding to the floor.

Brother Hua, trailing behind, fished a handful of Change out of his pocket and scattered it on the floor. As the middle-aged man bent over, he dragged Xiaofang past the man.

Xiaofang’s head hit the hard steps, and that’s when he came to, utterly terrified. "How did I just fall down?"

"Apartment 1184 was once lived in by a very greedy businessman who had someone predict his fortune, saying that if he lived in that room, he would become wealthy until death! But who knew, just days after he moved in, he really died. Since then, people saw him in the corridor!" Brother Hua dragged Xiaofang along. "If you don’t give him money, he will follow you home and take your life!"

Xiaofang, still shaken, looked back and the middle-aged man was no longer on the staircase, only some Paper Money was scattered on the floor.

"The Room 1184 is extremely cursed. It’s said that the Demi Immortal who read the businessman’s fortune used to be the original owner of 1184, but he had died long before he met the businessman. We all suspect the businessman was bewitched by a ghost and ended up being a Scapegoat," Brother Hua panted, worried that Han Fei and Xiaofang might cause more trouble. "Be careful, you two!"

"It’s not a matter of being careful now, a moment too slow and we could lose our lives," said Han Fei, the first to reach the nineteenth floor. The Red Skirt had just helped him scare away the middle-aged man, but something inside the skirt seemed to be waking up.

If Red Skirt saw how Han Fei was using it, it would probably claim his life.

With the Building-jumping Ghost below and the Red Skirt in his hands, and still unknown dangers above, two F-level tasks had landed on them in just half an hour. Everything had happened too fast. Han Fei could only keep running for his life while continuously analyzing the situation and staying alert to the Red Skirt and his surroundings.

With each floor Han Fei and the others climbed, the Building-jumping Ghost closed the distance between them.

"At this rate, I might have a chance to reach room 1244. But an F-level task shouldn’t be this easy, could I be missing something?"

The sound of the Building-jumping Ghost moving could already be clearly heard in the hallway; her arms and legs were on the ground, all twisted as she seemed like a gigantic insect grabbing the staircase railing, dragging her completely deformed body upwards rapidly.

"This game is a Healing-type Game for Evil Ghosts, and the core of all tasks still lies with the Ghost and Monster, how can it force the player to make contact with the Ghost and Monster while trying to escape?"

Han Fei’s expression grew increasingly grave. He thought of a possibility, "The task is to enter the most dangerous room at the very top of building one, room 1244. But if the door to room 1244 is locked, you might need a key to get in!"

"Based on the task information, room 1244 is related to the Building-jumping Ghost; she might have come out of that room. Since she is the owner of that room, it makes sense that the key would be on her," he reasoned.

Thinking this, Han Fei’s face turned ashen, and his eyes twitched—this must be the real challenge of an F-level task.

"There might still be other ways, it’s too early to give up now!"

Brother Hua stretched out the Talisman Paper and charged toward the twentieth floor as if his life didn’t matter. Normally, if homeowners saw someone running up the stairs like this in the middle of the night, most wouldn’t dare to stop them.
