Chapter 305: Is Anyone Home?

Chapter 305: Chapter 305: Is Anyone Home?

Suddenly turning back and seeing the object, Han Fei was startled too. He was now the person closest to the bathroom.

"Didn’t we throw it in the trash can?"

"It’s useless. This Red Skirt has appeared before..." Brother Hua’s face turned as white as a ghost, seemingly recalling something terribly unpleasant.

"So, how did you handle it last time? Did you burn it or cut it up and bury it in the ground?"

"It was no use. After it appeared last time, the people in the Security Guard room of Building One started dying in accidents, one after another, until there was only one person left. Then it suddenly disappeared." Brother Hua shrank his neck, saying cautiously, "It felt like a Blood Sacrifice, as if only bloodshed and death could make it leave."

Brother Hua’s words changed the expressions of the young Security Guard and Han Fei. No one knew the origin of the Red Skirt; they only knew that its appearance meant death. This object seemed even more sinister than a real Curse Item.

Compared to the young Security Guard, Han Fei actually understood better the plight of the security guards in the building.

According to the information he received from the Security Company, all the security guards in the Death Building were carefully selected "Flower Pots," meant to let the Human Pupae absorb enough humanity and then bloom into the most beautiful "Butterfly."

The Butterfly didn’t care about the lives of the security guards at all. It altered the guards’ memories, threw them into the Death Building, and everything it did was for the Human Pupae.

As long as it could increase the success rate by one percent, it didn’t care how many security guards died.

"So, what should we do? We can’t just stay in the same room with it, can we?" the young Security Guard hesitated for a moment. "Should we try throwing it out again? This time, we could burn it to ashes first and then bury it in the ground."

"It’s no use. It will come back," Brother Hua quietly glanced at the young Security Guard’s neck, then shook his head fiercely to keep himself alert.

The sudden appearance of the Red Skirt in the bathroom had disturbed Brother Hua deeply.

"I have a suggestion..." Han Fei struggled to lift his arm, whispering, "Didn’t you just say the first floor is very dangerous? Some strange incidents happened there."

"Yes, we never go to the first floor after dark. It’s an unspoken rule in our Security Guard room. Everyone knows it," Brother Hua didn’t know what Han Fei was plotting.

"Then do you know which room on the first floor is the most dangerous?" Han Fei was also frightened by the Red Skirt in the bathroom. It seemed he was afraid that the Red Skirt would overhear, so he slowly moved his body and whispered to Brother Hua, "What if we throw the Red Skirt into the most dangerous room?"

Upon hearing Han Fei’s words, both the young Security Guard and Brother Hua were slightly stunned.

"You’re really a genius!" Brother Hua’s eyes lit up, but then he began to worry, "But we don’t have the keys to the rooms in the building."

"Then we could just stuff it through the door cracks? If that doesn’t work, cut up the skirt and stuff pieces of it all around the building, so everyone shares the blessing or the burden." Han Fei’s voice was devilish; his idea mainly stemmed from the fact that there were simply no innocent "people" among the Death Building’s residents.

"Isn’t that a bit too much? What if the residents find out..."

"Then we’ll just stuff it in those rooms that are often haunted and vacant, so it won’t accidentally harm other residents. After all, we’re not bad people; everything we do is for self-preservation." Han Fei couldn’t back out of the game now; his heart was in his throat, and he couldn’t afford to be negligent.

"You make sense," Brother Hua nodded. "We’ve never tried this method before."

"But the Red Skirt is so dangerous that, as Brother Hua said, if we move it to another haunted room, might it not trigger a chain reaction and cause the Ghosts and Monsters in those rooms to come after us?" the young Security Guard imagined another scenario.

"Then we’ll just have to leave it to luck." Han Fei was unsure himself; he had just looked at the patrol duty schedule for the building. Building One had twenty-four floors, including three rooms whose door numbers contained two fours—1044, 1144, 1244.

These three rooms must be the most dangerous rooms in Building One. Han Fei felt his luck was incredibly "good," having ended up in one of the most dangerous rooms of Building One right from the start.

"Let’s take action now. Every second we spend with this skirt, I feel uncomfortable all over." Brother Hua headed to the bathroom, his security guard uniform sticking tightly to his skin, damp with a large patch of sweat.

He was very frightened, but still wanted to act like a senior in front of Han Fei and the young Security Guard.

Muttering something continuously, Brother Hua seemed to be praying for all gods and Buddhas to bless him, and after repeatedly chanting, he took down the Red Skirt hanging in the bathroom.

Merely holding it, his arms uncontrollably began to tremble. He had wanted to maintain a senior’s dignity, but found he couldn’t even walk normally. His calves were numb, and he felt as if the Red Skirt was watching him.

"Is it dyed red with blood?" Han Fei was also curious, though his focus always seemed strange.

"It’s just an ordinary Red Skirt, at least that’s how it looks." Brother Hua, shivering, walked out of the bathroom: "The most dangerous room on the first floor is 1004. No one lives there, and the Monster I noticed earlier was propped by its door. I even suspect that the former resident of 1004 murdered the delivery man."

Holding the Red Skirt, Brother Hua approached the door: "Xiaofang, help me open the door, then grab the scissors, and let’s go together, quick in and out."

"Okay."

It took Brother Hua and the young Security Guard, Xiaofang, fifteen minutes to prepare and adjust their mentality. But just when they were ready to leave, suddenly, footsteps echoed in the hallway, followed by their neighboring door being knocked, and a very creepy male voice came from outside.

"Is anyone home? Your delivery has arrived..."

Hearing this voice, Brother Hua and Xiaofang seemed frozen, stopping at the doorway, not even daring to breathe too heavily.

"Is anyone home? Is anyone home? Is anyone home!"

The door next door kept making noises, and finally, the latch sprang as if it was directly opened.

The sounds in the corridor disappeared instantly, Brother Hua and Xiaofang exchanged glances, each seeing the cold sweat on the other’s forehead.

"Maybe... wait a bit before going out?"

"Bai Sinian’s wounds have not been treated yet; if left unattended, they will become even more severe."

"Brother Hua is always so considerate, truly a senior."

The two Security Guards retreated to the bathroom and hung the Red Skirt back in its original place. They took out a medical kit from the cabinet and began treating Han Fei’s wounds.

Seeing that both Security Guards dared not leave room 1044, Han Fei showed a helpless smile. He really wanted to tell the two guards.

The reason other Ghosts and Monsters don’t come to room 1044 is not that it’s safe, but because this room harbors great danger! It is one of the three most dangerous rooms in the White Building, and even Ghosts do not want to come close!

Brother Hua and Xiaofang fussed over treating Han Fei’s wounds, and after half an hour, with no unusual sounds in the hallway, they packed up the medical kit and got ready to leave again.

"Xiaofang, we have to move fast; stuff the skirt and hurry back. We absolutely can’t stay on the first floor for too long." Brother Hua’s own legs were trembling, but he didn’t forget to remind the young Security Guard.

"Okay."

The two Security Guards encouraged each other and then left room 1044, holding the Red Skirt.

Upon closing the door, the weakened Han Fei’s expression instantly changed; he stood up and began checking his physical condition.

The wounds left by the black mist were concentrated on his arms, neck, and cheeks, each infused with Death Intent, constantly causing pain to Han Fei and preventing the wounds from healing. Until the Death Intent was eradicated, Han Fei was essentially disfigured.

This would be fatal for an actor, but Han Fei didn’t care at all; instead, he felt fortunate that no one could recognize him now, and he could play Bai Sinian more perfectly.

"These wounds look fierce, but the actual cuts are not deep, and they don’t affect me much."

After resting for so long, Han Fei’s strength, depleted by running for half an hour, gradually recovered. He walked around in room 1044, trying to find clues and information.

But he hadn’t taken many steps when suddenly, Han Fei turned his head; he felt someone was watching him.

His gaze swept around all the corners of the room, eventually stopping at the bathroom.

"Didn’t Brother Hua and the others already take the skirt away?"

The lights in the Security Room flickered a few times before going out, leaving Han Fei standing alone in the pitch-dark room, his back against the wall, not daring to move.

Just at this critical moment, the door of the Security Room was suddenly knocked, and a chilling voice sounded from outside.

"Is anyone home? Your delivery has arrived."
