Chapter 273: Flesh and Blood Pet Nine-life
Chapter 273: Chapter 273: Flesh and Blood Pet Nine-life
Ying Yue, who lived on the eighth floor, was Han Fei’s trump card. This little girl had never gone all out in front of Han Fei, and no one knew what her specific abilities were.
As one pair of eyes after another opened on the walls of the room, an incredibly oppressive atmosphere enveloped everyone inside.
The monster with the cat face, trapped in the cage of despair, finally realized something was amiss. It threw the dying veterinarian to the ground and watched its surroundings warily.
With those pairs of eyes gazing upon them, the light inside the room twisted completely, and Ying Yue emerged from absolute darkness.
Concealed within her small body was a force completely different from other Grudges, and the two dark holes on her face stared eerily at the monster with the cat face.
Black blood seeped from beneath her skin. Ying Yue raised her hand towards the cage, and at that instant, all the eyes wept blood.
The room was filled with screams and wails. After the blood tears had run dry, the eyes in the darkness slowly closed, but the two dark holes on Ying Yue’s face were stained red with fresh blood.
An abyssal darkness seemed to hide a blood-red world, and anyone who met Ying Yue’s gaze would have their consciousness sucked into that world!
Ying Yue, who had always lived in darkness and never felt the light, concealed within her a world built from fear and abuse—a world of boundless pain like an endless nightmare.
There was no light or love there, no family or friends, just pain as pervasive as a nightmare!
"Ah!"
The monster with the cat face let out a terrible scream, its sharp claws piercing through its own head.
It felt something leaving its body, but it was powerless to stop it. Desperately trying to prevent it only caused itself more wounds.
Standing beside her, Han Fei witnessed Ying Yue’s full effort for the first time. Her ability was very bizarre—it wasn’t a Curse, nor was it Dark Energy, nor did it include any negative emotions. It seemed she could pull others’ consciousness into the world within her eyes.
As the standoff continued, Ying Yue’s body trembled violently. Seeing this, Han Fei immediately joined hands with other neighbors to intervene.
Cry shrank the cage of despair into chains, Li Nan attacked head-on to distract the monster with the cat face, and Han Fei drew the Rebirth Saber, repeatedly inflicting new wounds on the monster.
"Can’t we control it even when we work together?"
With more and more wounds on its body and no way out, the monster with the cat face again pierced its own flesh, tearing apart its fur.
Its presence grew more formidable, but it couldn’t heal the wounds left by the Rebirth Saber.
Blood tears flowed from its bloodshot eyes as it roared, and Ying Yue’s figure was reflected in its gaze as if its soul was about to be extracted.
Its veins bulged over its body, and the monster grew taller once more. Instead of attacking the people in the room, it smashed its arms fiercely onto the ground!
"Boom!"
The floor shattered layer by layer, and a pungent smell of blood and decay rose from below, almost lifting off the roof.
"There’s another layer beneath the pet shop?"
The scene before them was shocking. Beneath the pet shop lay a Corpse Pit filled with various animal bodies, many of which were stitched together, the traces of needlework still visible on them.
What surprised Han Fei even more was that many pets in this "Corpse Pit" of "failed products" were not entirely dead. Their residual souls clung to the bodies, struggling in agony.
The monster with the cat face plummeted into the Corpse Pit, scattering the fragmented bodies around. It picked up the corpses from the ground and pressed them into the wounds on its body.
Ordinary wounds would fuse with the "pet corpses" and heal instantly, but the cuts from the Rebirth Saber refused to close.
"Its presence is getting stronger!" Under Han Fei’s command, every neighbor rushed in.
Any single person in the room was no match for the monster with the cat face; its terrifying regenerative abilities could only be countered by an F-grade Slaughter Saber Rebirth. However, Han Fei, wielding the Rebirth Slaughter Saber, had a Physical Strength Attribute far too inferior compared to the monster, probably not even getting a chance to wield the saber if faced with it alone.
Cry and Li Nan created opportunities for Han Fei, allowing him to slice new wounds with the Rebirth Saber continuously. The monster, weakened by Han Fei, gradually couldn’t resist Ying Yue’s ability anymore, and something within it seemed about to be sucked into Ying Yue’s eyes.
"Don’t give it a chance!"
The intense battle lasted a full twenty minutes, and within the continuous tug-of-war, the cat-faced monster finally couldn’t take it anymore.
The stitches on its chest and head had all burst open, revealing a pitch-black, kitten-like grudge that Ying Yue imprisoned within blood-red eye sockets.
The screams vanished in an instant, and the enormous body of the cat-faced monster froze in place, while everyone on the scene turned their gaze towards Ying Yue.
In the world seen only through her eyes, a scar-covered black kitten was fiercely hissing until Ying Yue closed her eyes.
After a long time, blood tears flowed from Ying Yue’s tightly shut eyes, as if she had been scratched beneath her eye sockets by a cat.
She walked towards Han Fei, grabbed his arms, and pressed down on the ghost patterns on his body.
"It’s going to hurt a little," Ying Yue said this out of the blue, staring at Han Fei’s back and then she opened her eyes.
Han Fei didn’t know what was happening behind him, and as he was about to turn his head, it felt as though a branding iron had touched his back, the severe burning pain caused him to bite his mouth until it bled.
Moments later, the pain disappeared, and the weakened Ying Yue seemed as if she could no longer maintain her own soul body.
"Ying Yue?"
Looking at his back, Han Fei found that the ghost pattern on his body had undergone a noticeable change, the ferocious ghost face design was now being bitten by a huge black tiger.
"That cat has been tormented countless times; it’s very hard to kill. I could only trap it in your ghost pattern for now. This should also be able to help you," Ying Yue walked towards the weeping Spiritual Altar, "Once it’s no longer able to harm you, you can release it."
After saying this, she turned and entered the Spiritual Altar.
Touching the ghost pattern, Han Fei heard the system’s notification.
"Player number 0000, please note! You have successfully acquired an F-level primary ghost pattern — Nine-life."
"Nine-life Ghost Pattern: Adds five to flesh-type curse resistance, this ghost pattern can help you block nine fatal injuries."
"Player number 0000, please note! You have successfully completed a G-level hidden task of adopting a pet! You’ve gained one Free Skill Point! You have acquired a pet — Nine-life!"
"Nine-life (Flesh-type Pet): Between G-level and F-level, possessing a powerful recovery ability and a body that is very difficult to completely destroy!"
"Loyalty: Zero."
"Hidden Talent: Unknown (Unlocks when Loyalty exceeds fifty)."
"For acquiring a pet for the first time, you receive an additional reward — a G-level active ability, Pet Training."
"Pet Training (G-level upgradable ability): Only by mastering the basic theory of pet training and adopting the correct training methods can the training work be more predictive and scientific, achieving twice the result with half the effort."
Looking at the mission information, Han Fei didn’t expect to have acquired the first pet in his life so easily; he had never had any experience in training pets before.
"Do I now have a cat?"
Han Fei patiently communicated with the ghost pattern, his will discerned the scrappy kitten within the ghost pattern, and when he tried to pet the creature’s head using the Pet Training, the kitten’s wounds tore open instantaneously, its body swelling madly, as if it wanted to leap out of the ghost pattern and bite Han Fei’s hand.
"Such an adorable little kitty, the first thing it thinks to do is to bite off my hand rather than go straight for my neck. Although its Loyalty is zero, it still has a kind heart deep down, making it worth the effort to train," he mused.
Finding a suitable pet in the Underworld was no easy task, so Han Fei wasn’t too demanding.
"Going from zero to one in Loyalty is the hardest part; I need to find a way to get off to a good start."
As he spoke, Han Fei looked over at the near-death vet, whose gaze shook with fear.
"You seem too far gone to save; why not make the most of your remaining warmth, die with a little more value."
With the thought of recycling waste, Han Fei used the secret of touching the depth of one’s soul, bringing the dying vet next to the ghost pattern.
