Chapter 258: Chapter 258 Unfortunately, We All Became Madmen Later

Among all the people Han Fei had come across, Spider was the most complex, with nine personalities woven together, sometimes even he couldn’t see his own heart clearly.

The torrent of flesh and blood surged past, temporarily suppressing the Curse on Han Fei’s body, and the fine wounds on his skin began to heal.

His strength slowly recovered, but the feeling of pain not only didn’t diminish but kept intensifying.

On closer inspection of the wounds, Han Fei discovered that there were two different Curses on each one.

Spider didn’t know how to remove Butterfly’s Curse, he simply acted out of the goodness of his heart, casting a deeper Curse of flesh and blood on Han Fei to target Butterfly.

All the sins and karma of slaughter accumulated in Beast Alley were borne by Spider alone, and now he had placed just a small portion of it onto Han Fei’s wounds.

In excruciating agony, Han Fei writhed in the blood.

Seeing how vigorous Han Fei was, Spider no longer paid attention to him and turned to Doctor and Reader Personality instead.

The black Blood Silk on his heart was eliminated, but the strange patterns, like butterfly wings, couldn’t be removed at all—it was as if they had merged with his benevolent heart.

At this moment, his heart was embedded in Spider’s chest, but Spider dared not use the Power of that heart with ease; it seemed he feared the Butterfly patterns would spread over his entire body.

The cracked chest slowly healed, and Spider was reborn amid the flesh and blood of countless Pig-faced Monsters; his body slowly returned to normal, and his every move swayed this filthy world.

His features became more distinct, and Spider, standing atop the ruins of Butcher’s home, was surrounded by three terrifying figures.

As the Manager, he represented the limit of Beast Alley; no matter how miserable his current state, no one could defeat him here alone.

But if the three figures surrounding him joined forces to attack, the situation would be completely different.

Therefore, the outcome of the final battle didn’t depend on Spider but on the uncontrolled Xu Qin.

If Xu Qin joined forces with Reader and Doctor to fight for Spider’s heart, wanting to become the next Manager of Beast Alley, Spider would be in great danger.

But if Xu Qin gave up on Spider and attacked either Reader or Doctor, the situation would be completely rewritten.

Both Reader Personality and Doctor realized this, and as Reader Personality looked back at Xu Qin, that madwoman, intrinsically linked with the Curse, was already charging toward her.

Without any reason, completely unprovoked, Reader Personality couldn’t understand why Xu Qin would suddenly attack her; she only noticed the other’s gaze fixed on the book in her hand, as if she had seen the fragmented Han Fei within it.

The moment the conflict between Xu Qin and Reader Personality erupted, Spider, made of flesh and blood, made his move on Doctor.

All the hidden blood vessels amidst the ruins, all the corpses and bloodstains on the ground, were all obeying Spider’s command.

Doctor merely pieced his body together to resemble Spider, only imitating Spider’s Ability with black Blood Silk, but the real Spider disdained these; his web was this world itself.

As soon as one entered Beast Alley, no one could escape, not even Butterfly.

The flesh surged, and everywhere he looked, everything was constraining and hindering Doctor.

Even without getting close, Doctor’s body was already covered in numerous wounds.

To assimilate Spider’s kind heart, Doctor himself suffered severe injuries; his chest and abdomen were sliced open by the Rebirth Saber, and in the chaos, Han Fei had also chopped off one of his feet.

Alone against Spider, Doctor had no chance of winning.

He looked at Reader Personality, whose situation was not optimistic either; the unhinged Xu Qin was like a moving Origin of Curse, and the thirteen Dinner Knives’ Blood Sacrifice had opened a door of terror beyond imagination.

With both fronts suppressed, the Outsiders lured by Doctor knew that things were going south and fled from Butcher’s house one after another in a panic.

More and more flesh gathered on Spider’s body; thick blood vessels connected him with the ruins underfoot, and the blood water flooded Beast Alley, also drowning Doctor’s last shred of hope.

His ferocious, sharp foot was grasped by pairs of hands in the blood, and his huge body seemed to be stuck in a mire; the more he struggled, the deeper he sunk.

Doctor was a very rare Large-scaled Grudge, but he was no match for Manager Spider in Beast Alley; everything around wove into a massive web that eventually trapped him.

Han Fei truly witnessed the horror of a Manager; each Manager had their own unique Manager Talent. Spider’s Talent was the web, weaving everything seen and owned into an invisible net. He had absolute control over Beast Alley; every blade of grass here was tainted with his flesh and blood.

There was no shouting, no hysteria; Spider’s way of killing carried a unique silence and gentleness.

"No wonder the people from Death Building dare not come here; if they entered before Spider’s self-awareness collapsed, that would be suicidal," Han Fei envied the other’s Ability. Compared to his own Talent of summoning Huang Ying, it was evidently Spider’s Power that was stronger, at least for now.

Doctor’s back foot was disarmed, and he continued to struggle in the blood, while Spider silently watched him, his eyes devoid of pity, the thrill of revenge, or the slightest excitement—it seemed he had already seen this outcome many times before.

In the doctor’s reluctant roars and howls, his body was slowly dragged into the depths of the bloody water, and all that remained in the place where the doctor had once been was a mask imprinted with a number.

Beyond the doctor, the bloody water also poured into Reader Personality’s room, dissolving the corpses of the other personalities.

Spider’s gaze swept over each mask until it finally rested on Reader Personality, who was still locked in a deadly struggle with Xu Qin.

His expression at that moment was strange, resembling desolation and also a failure to understand.

In Spider’s original world, Reader Personality was his only friend, they listened to each other, their souls resonating.

But at some point, Reader Personality started to change.

Spider slowly realized that what he had wasn’t a friend, but merely a sickness.

He began taking medication, accepting psychological intervention and treatment, adjusting his routine, intending to say farewell to everyone at some point.

However, Butterfly’s intervention ultimately ruined everything, and although Spider never killed anyone in reality or broke any laws, he knew he was covered in blood, having personally killed eight versions of himself.

Others found it hard to understand Spider, and even his psychologist could not truly penetrate his heart. Spider was always alone.

Seeing the disappearance of Doctor Personality, Reader Personality knew everything had ended, and struggling further was just a waste of effort.

"Spider, you always have such good luck, but do you really plan to stay in Beast Alley your whole life?"

Dodging Xu Qin’s curse, Reader Personality grabbed the book without a cover with both hands, then tore it apart with force, scattering the pages upwards.

The first few pages of the book portrayed Han Fei, and each following page depicted a way for Spider to die, each a vile curse!

"You have eyes that see the truth, so I brought you to witness everything. We could have been partners, yet you fought me from reality to the depths of consciousness. Is all you’ve done merely for that last bit of humanity?"

All the curses within the book were triggered, and the patterns on Reader Personality’s face started to spread, as if to detonate her body.

Flesh converged, and Spider’s facial outline became clearer. He took a deep breath, staring at Reader Personality for a long time before he asked a question buried deep in his heart.

"The first time you appeared deep in my consciousness, were you the Reader or the Butterfly?"

In the end, Reader Personality did not answer Spider’s question. Her Residual Soul exploded, setting off all the curses in the book.

In the midst of that vast blood mist, half a blue butterfly wing charged towards Spider’s heart with astonishing speed.

Reader Personality intended to transfer the other half of her pattern onto Spider’s heart!

"Actually, I have an answer in my heart." Now that Spider had regained his senses, what he did next looked crazy to onlookers; he tore open his healed flesh and took out his half-kind heart.

He looked at the pattern on his heart as if admiring the world’s most beautiful gemstone.

"The Reader at the very beginning was you, but unfortunately, we both turned into madmen."

He murmured to himself until that half-blue butterfly got close. Then Spider raised his head.

He clenched the heart in his hand and, with all his might, crushed his own heart before the blue butterfly could touch it!

The pattern of the butterfly remained in the withered flesh, while the kindness and humanity left in the heart were sent straight to Xu Qin.

Layer upon layer of curses were shattered. Xu Qin, already out of control, encased in that kindness, twisted in agonizing pain, her eyes constantly changing as if tormented by an extreme inner struggle.

After gifting his kindness to Xu Qin, Spider used his last ounce of strength and gathered all the blood water he could control into a towering tsunami, slamming it onto the ruins of Butcher’s house.

Blood rained from the sky, the half butterfly wing was crushed, and the terrifying curses around Xu Qin were mostly dispersed.

Spider still stood at the center of the building, but in his world, Butcher’s house no longer existed.

"I’ve always been searching and pondering on my own, but I ended up trapped in the world I saw, bound by the web I wove. Fortunately, you tore open a gap for me." Spider pulled Han Fei out from the blood-water, looking at the battered Han Fei, seeing the shining humanity on him and his eyes betraying an indescribable envy: "How to survive in despair, you’ve given me a new answer."

After moving Han Fei next to Xu Qin, Spider’s body became dim and emaciated.

He reached into the bloody water, and a moment later, his palms held fragments of a heart.

The heart fragments in his left hand were rotten and foul-smelling, while those in his right hand oozed fresh, red blood.
