My ‘Healing’ Game
Chapter 249: Gathering at the Butcher’s Home

Chapter 249: Chapter 249: Gathering at the Butcher’s Home

Watching Wuzui’s retreating figure, Han Fei did not shift his gaze for a long time. He pulled out his phone from his pocket, with the recording function turned on the whole time.

He listened to Wuzui’s words several times—He said I am the Butterfly, he never defeated the Butterfly because of me, he didn’t lose to the Butterfly also because of me.

Originally, Spider’s life had no attachments, until Wuzui appeared.

In protecting this orphan, he also wanted to kill this orphan. The complexity of multiple personalities was fully exhibited in how he dealt with Wuzui.

"Wuzui? Innocent? Or should I say, my sin?"

The same two words, yet with different interpretations. Han Fei didn’t know why Spider would give the child such a name, and he still couldn’t understand many of the Writer’s decisions even now.

"It seems that to clarify the truth, I need to find the Writer in the Deep World. However, today was not entirely fruitless. A very important reason Spider didn’t lose to Butterfly in the end was that he stuck to his own heart. Spider’s life used to be incomplete; it lacked love and protection."

"According to Wuzui, Spider dares not love, nor does he have anything to protect. He is like an observer standing at the intersection of different worlds, coldly recording everything, and it’s because of this personality that he could write a book like ’Beast Alley’."

"But then, after Wuzui appeared, Spider began to re-examine himself, and the scales of the two worlds he carried in his eyes tilted again. It was also because of Wuzui that the subsequent book ’Butcher’s House’ detailing the mutual slaughter among personalities came to be."

"Two books, one written about the world seen by eyes, and the other about the world felt by the heart."

Holding his script, Han Fei looked down the empty corridor to its end, completely putting himself in Spider’s shoes, "Spider didn’t kill Butterfly, nor did he harm the orphan he adopted. Perhaps, from a father’s perspective, not being defeated is a win."

The sound of a wind chime reached his ears, and Han Fei put away his phone.

He stared silently at the wind chime, just as Wuzui had done before, and then he remembered the Writer’s room in the Deep World.

With a thought to give it a try, he stood on a chair, reaching out his hands to feel around the ceiling near the wind chime.

After a meticulous search, Han Fei opened a very well-hidden compartment!

Had he not searched the Writer’s room in the Deep World, had he not discovered the same item hanging in both the Deep World and reality, Han Fei would have never found such a hidden compartment.

After removing the panel, no butterfly carcasses fell out; there was only a black and white photo inside the compartment.

Ten chairs were arranged around the dining table, with ten sets of utensils laid out, but the photo only captured Spider and Wuzui, the two of them.

They sat on opposite sides of the dining table, silently looking at each other.

"Is this considered a family portrait?"

There were no manuscripts of Spider in the real world’s hidden compartment, only this photo.

Han Fei wiped the dust off the photo, and he suddenly noticed numbers written on the chairs. Most of the numbers were crossed out with a red pen, except for chairs number three, five, and nine.

"Number three’s Personality is the Doctor, number five is the Teacher, and number nine’s Personality is the Reader. Does this mean the Butterfly was initially hiding among these three Personalities?"

Han Fei felt there might be another possibility. Initially, the Butterfly wanted to lure just one of Spider’s Personalities, but it didn’t expect Spider to have multiple personalities and then got caught up in a battle of consciousness and personalities.

This photo was a very important clue for Han Fei. Next time he entered the Deep World, he could focus on these three Personalities.

After securely tucking away the photo, the lunch break ended, and Han Fei started the afternoon shooting.

As Han Fei’s understanding of the Spider deepened, the character he portrayed became increasingly outstanding. Although his role in the drama was just a supporting character, the center of the whole play was slowly shifting toward him.

Han Fei, the actor, had a mysterious and unique charm about him. When he immersed himself in the role, what he presented to everyone seemed not just an individual but a world shrouded in darkness.

When the sun set, the sound of wind chimes echoed once again from the fourth floor, and the residents began to lock their doors.

In their eyes, the sound of the wind chimes had become a warning, signifying something ominous.

After finishing the day’s shoot, Han Fei, who never worked overtime, said goodbye to the director and left in a police car.

In the car, Han Fei asked Li Xue for some tips on using knives. In modern society, even police rarely use knives; they learn more about how to disarm a criminal. Thus, the help Li Xue could offer Han Fei was limited; she simply told him some advanced fighting techniques.

Possessing the secret to touch the depths of the soul, Han Fei could touch Grudges and Obsessions, making close-quarters combat very useful for him.

Past eight in the evening, Han Fei returned to his home. He checked every room to ensure no Outsiders had entered before relocking the doors and windows.

After searching online for various instructional videos on practical knife usage, Han Fei ordered a heavy knife without an edge, not meant for cutting people but for practice only.

With water and compressed food stored in the refrigerator, and various self-defense tools scattered around the house, anyone visiting Han Fei’s would likely not see him as an actor, but rather someone preparing for the end of the world.

At Midnight, after connecting all kinds of circuits, Han Fei lay on his bed and donned his gaming helmet.

The world was shrouded in a blood-red hue, as Han Fei’s consciousness was extracted from his body.

His nostrils once again caught the familiar scent of meat. When Han Fei opened his eyes, his vision was filled with bloodstains, and several gazes turned towards him at the same moment.

"Shop Manager!" One-eyed shop assistant Yinglong sat on the ground. His convenience store uniform was already dyed black with blood, and the Residual Soul bore some indelible bite marks and wounds.

Li Zai lay beside him, resting on the Cry of the Spiritual Altar. Multiple injuries had appeared on his long, thin Soul Body, and the bloodstains on him had all coagulated into a layer of thin black armor.

It was evident that in these few short days, the two had gone through numerous battles. The saying ’covered in blood’ didn’t even begin to describe their condition.

"How did you two find this place?" Han Fei grasped Yinglong’s hand, having been very worried about him and planning to search for them as soon as he logged on this time.

"We were wandering around the peripheral area. Yesterday, the Monster population in the alley suddenly exploded, and we had no choice but to run deeper in. In the end, with no escape, she saved us," Li Zai said weakly from the ground, curling the corner of his mouth to caution Han Fei to be wary of the woman in the kitchen. He was somewhat afraid of Xu Qin.

"Xu Qin went out and saved you after I left?" Han Fei was surprised. However, Xu Qin had previously saved Meng Shi’s grandson, so thinking about it, she was quite good to the neighbors in the Happiness Residential Community.

"At first, I actually refused to come with her, but I simply couldn’t beat her." Li Zai picked up the Spiritual Altar from the ground. "The Spiritual Altar has collected a lot of Residual Souls and Dark Energy. Although everyone is a bit injured, our strength has also increased significantly. The Monsters in the alley contain a special kind of Dark Energy, extremely aggressive and fierce. For my younger brother Li Nan, this place is simply Heaven; he’s been eating all along the way, growing bigger. I reckon you might not recognize him next time you see him."

Li Zai and Li Nan were one. The elder brother maintained rationality, while the younger brother maintained combat power.

Hearing Li Zai say this, Han Fei turned to look at Yinglong, who immediately understood Han Fei’s intention. A beastly face marked with bloodstains emerged in his One-eyed gaze.

With the boost from that beastly face, Yinglong exuded an even more brutal and fierce aura. If one were stared at by that One-eyed for too long, their sanity would be affected.

All of the neighbors and colleagues had improved in strength. Seeing Yinglong and Li Zai, Han Fei felt a lot more at ease in his heart.

"Playing this game up to now, it finally has a slight sense of nurturing and healing."
