Chapter 247: The Father in the Wind Chime

Chapter 247: Chapter 247: The Father in the Wind Chime

"I’ve forgotten when I first dreamed of that thing, but at first, it seemed to hide among the crowd, passing me by inadvertently, but later, for some reason, it seemed to cling to me..."

The words in his mind were spoken out loud by Han Fei, as he looked at that thing in the opposite building.

The "ghost" from the nightmare had entered reality, and he was experiencing the same thing as Spider had in the past.

Han Fei truly hadn’t expected the other party to reappear in this form—it all seemed like a long-planned "coincidence." The role of Spider he was playing and the Spider from a decade ago were in the same position, seeing the same "ghost."

Not following the script exactly, Han Fei didn’t even know what he was saying; he just stared at the pale face across the building, a hint of murderous intent flashing in his eyes.

The first time their eyes met, Han Fei felt somewhat frightened, his clothes soaked with cold sweat.

Having gone through the ordeal in Beast Alley and become the Midnight Butcher, Han Fei’s demeanor and mindset had also changed in reality.

His fingers unconsciously curved, as if reaching for the handle of a knife.

His eyelids blinked, and when Han Fei opened his eyes again, the figure had disappeared.

Han Fei still stared at a particular window across the building; he knew the other party would definitely reappear, and each time, closer than before.

This escalating fear could drive a normal person insane, but within Han Fei, there was a faint sense of anticipation.

He wanted to kill the Butterfly! Whether it be in the Deep World or in reality!

Withdrawing his gaze, when Han Fei looked around the room, the actors looked at him differently.

The scene continued according to the plot, and after Han Fei finished recounting his nightmare, no one in the small room spoke to break the oppressive atmosphere until the director and assistants gestured perfectly.

The frozen atmosphere instantly shattered, and everyone looked at Han Fei again.

"Why didn’t you follow the script?" Bai Xian paused, then continued, "What I mean is, the story you told seemed to fit better than the scripted lines, as if that’s exactly how Spider used to communicate with his other personalities."

"Amazing! And that look you had towards the building across the street, that abrupt change and burst of emotion in just a fraction of a second! It was like you really saw a ghost! How did you do that?"

Director Zhang, who had been staring at the camera, also came over, equally shocked.

Initially, Han Fei hadn’t followed the script entirely; parts of what he said weren’t in the script at all, but when Han Fei spoke them, they felt naturally perfect.

The state, the emotions, and language expression he displayed made everyone feel as if they were seeing a living Spider.

"What did I just say?" Han Fei really had seen a ghost, but he wasn’t scared; as he looked at it, he spoke the words that were on his mind, not even aware of what he was saying.

"You don’t remember? Is this what they call stream-of-consciousness acting?" Bai Xian was truly astonished; he felt Han Fei wasn’t lying.

"Maybe I was just in a good state then, completely caught up in the role, and I probably couldn’t do it again if we tried," said Han Fei, and then he glanced again at the building across, but the humanoid thing didn’t reappear.

The next time, it should be even closer to Han Fei, and he was genuinely "looking forward" to seeing it again.

"Dude, you’re seriously amazing. Up to this point in the shooting, you’ve already created ’jumping off the building’ and ’recounting the nightmare’—two iconic scenes. I feel like you might just perform a textbook level scene in this movie," Bai Xian said honestly, somewhat envious. Han Fei had contributed the best performance with the least amount of screen time, but most importantly, Han Fei was just in his twenties; his future was truly limitless.

In response to others’ praise, Han Fei merely smiled and did not take it to heart.

He was well aware that his Acting wasn’t good enough to casually create a famous scene, and he had truly seen a "ghost" earlier.

During the filming break, Han Fei didn’t forget to report the situation to the police, and during the noon break, he found the police with his lunch box in hand, hoping that Li Xue would accompany him to check the residential building diagonally opposite.

"It was in this room that I saw that thing," Han Fei said as they reached the fourth floor, pointing to a door.

"The doorknob and lock are covered in dust, this room hasn’t been inhabited for a long time, are you sure it’s this one?" Li Xue made a phone call to her colleague, who quickly sent over the information on the residents of the building.

The rooms where Ghost Face appeared were always uninhabited rooms whose owners had passed away.

Turning on the law enforcement recorder, Li Xue originally intended to use a special tool to open the door, but to their surprise, the door wasn’t locked.

Entering the room, inside there was only a floor covered in moldy, stinking garbage.

Han Fei walked to the window, standing right where the ghost had appeared, then looked towards the filming location where he had been earlier.

"Where will it appear next? Will it quietly come to the side of my bed while I’m playing games?" he wondered.

With nothing found, as Han Fei prepared to leave, he happened to see a mirror placed in the corner of the balcony.

All the items in the room were covered with dust, except for that mirror.

"When I jumped towards the safety net from the fourth floor, I seemed to have seen a mirror as well. Could this mirror be related to that ghostly figure?" Han Fei shared his speculation with Li Xue, who, wearing gloves, took the mirror out of the room to have it checked back at the station to see if they could find fingerprints or other evidence.

Han Fei wanted to search the room a bit longer, but Li Xue’s cell phone suddenly rang.

Her colleague told her the orphan that Spider had adopted had shown up in the family compound.

"Han Fei, aren’t you just keen to meet Spider’s adopted son? He is currently in the building where you are filming your movie," she told him.

"His timing is a bit too coincidental," Han Fei remarked as he stepped out of the room where Ghost Face had stayed, looking towards the stairs that led upstairs. There was no one in the empty hallway, yet it felt oppressive, as if someone were watching him through a peephole from behind a door.

"Let’s go and see that kid who sold his adoptive father’s brain," Han Fei and Li Xue returned to the filming site, finding nothing amiss themselves, but the people around them were surprised to see a dashing policewoman following an actor around the set.

Other actors always had assistants with them, yet this actor always had a police officer?

"Make way."

Pushing open the door to Room 401, Han Fei met Spider’s adopted son for the first time in Spider’s bedroom.

The child, like Han Fei before meeting Spider, was an orphan and, coincidentally, they had both spent some time in Happiness Orphanage.

Tapping on the half-opened bedroom door, Han Fei’s gaze fixated on the man sitting by the desk—or perhaps more aptly described as a boy.

The other was actually around twenty years old, but had a very youthful face, alarmingly pale skin as though it had been bleached by chemicals.

His arms were slightly longer than normal, and he was dressed completely in black. At the moment, he was fixated on a Wind Chime hanging near the window.

"What are you looking at?" Han Fei gently closed the door, locking himself and the other in the bedroom.

Without turning his head, the pale young man casually replied, "I’m watching my father, shh, keep your voice down, he’s talking to me."
