Chapter 245: Chapter 245: I Play His Father in the Drama
Processing the scene, clearing the traces, Han Fei had become very adept at destroying corpses and erasing evidence through repeated practice.
Even professional criminal police would find it difficult to spot any problems without the aid of high-tech instruments.
"Those who respect others are respected, those who kill are killed. You are butchers who slaughter the living, and I am the butcher who slaughters you."
Han Fei covered the big iron basin with a black cloth, looked at the room restored to its original state, confirmed there were no omissions, and left with his companion, as if they had never been there.
The dark energy and malice inside Uncle Li were swallowed by Black Snake, and his mask and the keys in his pocket were taken by Han Fei.
Leaving the underground, Han Fei hurried to Uncle Li’s room; since that villain was already dead, he might as well use his legacy to repay society and help more people.
Searching through cabinets and drawers, Han Fei felt like he was finally playing a normal game.
Uncle Li’s room brought Han Fei many surprises; he found many bottles filled with blood under the bed where Uncle Li had always laid.
After letting the little Black Snake try them, they discovered that these blood bottles were saturated with a large amount of negative emotions; opening a bottle would unleash the live screams and moans of humans.
Personality Number Six harbored darkness inside and enjoyed tormenting people, storing all the collected despair and pain in these bottles.
Han Fei didn’t know what Personality Number Six collected these things for, perhaps to satisfy some perverse obsession, but these items could indeed help Cry recover quickly.
Under the eager gaze of the little Black Snake licking its lips, Han Fei gave all the bottles to Cry.
Forced to face his worst memories after being submerged in the Blood Pool by the Pig-faced Monster, the childhood despair became a fulcrum for his frail body, and now he was different from before.
Cry had always avoided his memories, trying to smooth over the scars with time, but his time seemed to be forever stuck at that moment, trapping him in place.
Now, although he suffered more pain than before, the time that had been freezing him had broken, and he had stepped out of the past, growing visibly faster.
After drinking the blood steeped in despair, the aura emitted from Cry became even more terrifying.
He was collecting various kinds of despair, then condensing those despairs into something; when he succeeded in condensing it, it would likely be the moment his strength broke through again.
"Before entering Beast Alley, Cry’s cries could affect all the Grudges within a ten-meter range; now, this range has expanded to fifteen meters. If his strength continues to grow, the range affected by his cries should also increase."
Han Fei remembered that Unspeakable Gesheng, whose singing covered nearly a kilometer; all the Residual Souls who heard it trembled and became disoriented.
"Cry has great potential; perhaps he too can become an Unspeakable presence like Gesheng."
As Cry absorbed despair, Han Fei began searching other parts of the room.
The old man’s room was chaotic, with medicine bottles and expired items everywhere, the quilts and clothes in the wardrobe were moldy, and the entire room was saturated with a sense of Death Intent.
"What is this?"
In the pocket of a garment in the wardrobe, Han Fei found a crumpled photo of a scrawny little boy.
The boy seemed shy, with long hair and an unnaturally pale face; his arms were visibly abnormal.
Turning over the photo, on the tattered back, there was the boy’s name, birthday, and glaringly written words—family.
"If Number Six is just a Personality of Spider, why would he carry such a photo, claiming the other person is his family?"
Continuing to search, Han Fei found an adoption record and a large amount of handwritten material in the deepest secret compartment of the wardrobe.
The handwriting on the materials was completely different from that of Personality Number Six, rather resembling the Writer’s handwriting.
"Uncle Li stole the Writer’s adoption documents for orphans? What is the significance of doing this?"
Further down, Han Fei found that a large amount of text in the materials had been redacted with a red pen, and the blank spaces were densely filled with words like death, kill, and crime.
"The Writer wants to kill the orphans he adopted? Why would he do that?"
Among the few pages of adoption documents, Han Fei found many different kinds of handwriting.
Sometimes the Writer wanted to kill that orphan, and sometimes he reflected calmly. Apart from the Writer, the other Personalities seemed to have accepted that orphan, considering him as part of their family.
Han Fei knew that Spider had adopted a child a short time before his death. After Spider’s death, that child even sold Spider’s brain to Eternal Life Pharmaceutical.
Han Fei also couldn’t understand why someone like Spider would adopt an orphan towards the end of his life, especially when he was being severely troubled by Butterfly, and the fight between them was fierce.
Wasn’t adopting a child at such a time deliberately adding a vulnerability? Butterfly would definitely target the orphan to influence Spider.
"Could it be that the decision to adopt the orphan wasn’t made by the Writer, but by one of the Personalities controlled by Spider?"
By now, Han Fei had gathered a lot of clues, and he could confirm that one or several of Spider’s nine Personalities had been controlled by Butterfly.
With Butterfly’s ruthless nature, it would do anything to confront Spider.
"This adopted child of Spider’s must be taken seriously; he could be a breakthrough point!"
Having turned the elderly person’s room upside down, Han Fei found no further clues. Unlike the female Chef Personality, Butterfly hadn’t targeted this old man.
His cunning and murderous nature stemmed from his own malice. In other words, he was the dark side of Spider, the type of person Spider despised the most.
Having taken the adoption records and photos, Han Fei returned the room to its original state, and then they went back to Xu Qin’s room.
After briefly explaining a few things to Xu Qin and Cry, Han Fei exited the game from the corner of the bedroom.
In the blood-red frozen world, Han Fei removed his gaming helmet.
His bloodshot eyes looked somewhat scary, and it was already daylight outside the window.
Han Fei moved his stiff body, and each movement brought intense pain.
The feeling of being injured in the game was so realistic that for a moment, Han Fei found it hard to adjust back to reality.
He still subconsciously held his left hand near his chest as if it was still broken.
His brain dizzy and exhausted washing over him like a tide, Han Fei looked at his rudimentary gaming equipment and couldn’t help thinking of Huang Ying’s Game Box.
He took out his phone and habitually checked his personal account, then sighed softly. The first payment from "Twin Flowers" hadn’t arrived yet, and the salary from "Mystery Novelist" hadn’t been settled either.
In his account, he had over two hundred thousand, of which two hundred thousand was a reward for assisting the police in solving cases and capturing fugitives.
"The most luxurious Game Box costs millions, enough to buy a suite in the Old City District, definitely not something an ordinary person can afford."
While technology exploded in growth, it also brought significant hidden dangers, everything was like an iceberg floating in the ocean.
Everyone marvelled at the majestic beauty of the ice peaks above the water surface but selectively ignored the massive group submerged beneath, nearly suffocating.
Looking at his account balance, buying a house was out of the question for Han Fei for the time being, and he wasn’t much interested in making friends or dating either.
His only interest was surviving in the game, and his only material desire was to buy a multifunctional Game Box to facilitate long hours of gaming and better survival in the game.
Lying in bed, Han Fei realized that Deep World wasn’t without benefits; at least one could live in any house there, as long as one didn’t mind that it was a Haunted House and wasn’t too afraid of dying.
After resting for a long while and feeling less painful, Han Fei slowly drifted into sleep.
He had only slept for a bit over an hour when an alarm woke him up. His mind was still not clear, but his body got out of bed and began washing up.
At eight-thirty, Han Fei arrived downstairs on time, with plainclothes officers and Li Xue already waiting beside the police car.
For the police, Han Fei was one of the baits to lure Butterfly; protecting him was their strategy to capture Butterfly faster.
"Li Xue, have you found any evidence of Spider’s contact with Butterfly?"
Sitting in the police car, Han Fei wasn’t idle; he, an actor, made himself feel like a consultant on criminal cases.
"Not yet; all information about Spider has been destroyed." Li Xue looked at the dark circles under Han Fei’s eyes. "Did you not rest well last night?"
"I had a very long nightmare," Han Fei replied nonchalantly, then followed up with, "Do you know if Spider had ever adopted an orphan? If possible, I would like to meet him."
