Chapter 197: Chapter 197: Huang Ying’s Video

The system panel was filled with a blood-red hue, slowly opening to both sides like the Ghost Gate. Huang Ying, still with his back to Han Fei, had no idea what was happening; he was sent into the Ghost Gate.

Using the Soul-returning Talent on Han Fei had drained him greatly, nearly sapping all his strength.

After sending Huang Ying away, Han Fei also prepared to log off.

He knew there were still several Kaidan left unfinished in the Yimin Private Academy, and the Grade F hidden mission was only three-fourths complete. However, the urgent matter at hand was to find Huang Ying and have a proper discussion with him.

Stepping out of the bathroom, Han Fei found Old Li had not gone far. The night shift security guard was still very concerned about Huang Ying.

"Seeing your friend like that, it seemed as if he had suffered a great shock. You should comfort him more."

"Alright," Han Fei waved to Old Li, "I’ll go check on him. We’ll see each other tomorrow."

Walking towards the staircase, Han Fei opened the Attribute Panel in a corner and, as he chose to exit the game, he could faintly hear Old Li’s voice.

"Those who have wept in the dead of night are not easily knocked down by the troubles of the day. I should talk to him more when I have the chance, and try to guide him."

The blood-red color solidified, and Han Fei’s consciousness detached from the Deep World.

Removing the gaming helmet, Han Fei felt sore all over, in a state of extreme exhaustion.

In the Manager’s tasks, he had died over a dozen times, and each death felt incredibly real, as if it had truly occurred.

All the scenes of death intertwined in Han Fei’s mind. If it had been someone else, they might have already been unable to bear it and suffered a mental breakdown.

Donning his coat, Han Fei endured the soreness in his body, put the expandable baton and the electric shock anti-wolf device in his pockets, and then headed for the door.

He was very tired and weary, but he was still prepared to find Huang Ying immediately. This was his responsibility to Huang Ying.

Walking out of the neighborhood, Han Fei noticed vague figures moving inside the van parked by the street—it was probably the Paparazzi tailing him.

He didn’t pay them any mind and headed straight for Huang Ying’s residence in Xinhu Smart City District.

...

"Bang!"

Pushing open the door of the multi-functional Game Box, Huang Ying, pale as paper, stumbled out of the Game Box. His legs seemed to have lost all sensation, unable to even stand steadily.

His mind was in chaos, now whenever he closed his eyes, countless horrific images would spring up in his brain.

Those scenes were as though etched into his mind, impossible to erase.

With no strength left in his body, he sank into the soft sofa, his body trembling lightly.

If things went as expected, he might have to bid farewell to the holographic virtual game boxes for life.

Lifting his arm, Huang Ying lightly tapped his fingers on the coffee table, and the intelligent butler from the kitchen came over with a drink adjusted to Huang Ying’s taste. She placed the drink by Huang Ying’s side, then sat gently by the sofa, massaging Huang Ying to help him relax.

All of this was a predetermined program; Huang Ying’s intelligent butler was the latest product from Deep Space Technology, capable of reading simple human emotions, understanding changes in human psychology, and doing things most in line with human needs.

At the same time, the product also had dozens of preset personalities, paired with an independent and upgradeable emotional language synthesis system, gradually giving it personality traits in emotional expression and communication.

Under the intelligent butler’s massage, Huang Ying finally gradually calmed down. He rested his head on the intelligent butler’s thigh and finished his drink.

After resting for a long time, Huang Ying took off his outerwear soaked with cold sweat and walked towards the bathroom.

The bathtub had been prepared with hot water, and he slowly lay down in it.

The smart home assistant remained by his side, diligently caring for him and, at Huang Ying’s request, playing music and bringing various items.

Soaking in the hot water, Huang Ying felt the dark energy inside his body being carried away by the warmth, and sleepiness slowly began to creep over him.

It was not until then that Huang Ying finally took a breather. He used a voice command to activate the virtual screen in front of the bathtub and then moved his finger over the contact account labeled with Han Fei’s name.

After contemplating for a long while, Huang Ying still didn’t have the courage to reach out to Han Fei.

He began searching for relevant information online by himself, and not long after, he received a private message on his forum account.

An ID called "The Seer" had sent him a link, with accompanying text – "They had the same encounters as you."

After confirming that the link was indeed safe and virus-free, Huang Ying clicked on it to find a video.

The video was dim and blurry, and the location seemed to be at the border between the Old City District and the Smart New City. A man was using his phone to record his own front door, and he seemed to be talking to someone else.

"This is the second time it has appeared; I have no idea how it found my house."

No one responded, but the man kept a wary eye on his front door and continued nervously, "Around three in the morning, last time it appeared during this same timeframe, too, but back then, it just kept wandering in the hallway, seemingly because it hadn’t figured out where I lived yet."

"Bang!"

Suddenly, something bumped against the door, startling both the man in the video and Huang Ying outside of it.

As his complexion worsened, the man in the video held his phone, hesitant to get close to the door.

"It seems to know where I live now."

The noise at the door sounded once and then ceased. The man looked at the security monitor beside the door; outside his home, there was no one, only a bright red, round ball.

"A ball?"

The red ball rolled back after hitting the door. From the far edge of the security monitor, one could see a pair of hands picking up the ball.

"This isn’t quite the same as what I saw yesterday. Could there be more than one ghost?"

The man in the video, shivering, stood by the security monitor, eyes glued to the screen, but outside the room, there was silence once more.

"Has it gone?"

Just as the man was about to relax, someone suddenly knocked on his front door.

The anxiety rose again as the man covered his mouth, watching the security monitor.

His neighbor was knocking frantically on his door, with an expression of urgency.

The man didn’t dare utter a word, let alone open the door.

After the neighbor knocked for a while and saw no one inside, he returned to his own place. But in just a few seconds, the man’s phone vibrated.

He answered the call, only to find it was his neighbor.

"Is, is something the matter?"

"Get out of that house right now! Your place has been entered by a ghost! I just saw someone in red clothes, leading a child, run into your house!" The neighbor’s voice was loud and frantic, causing the man to panic as he fearfully surveyed his apartment.

Lying in the bathtub, Huang Ying reached out to pause the video, feeling inexplicably uneasy. When he turned to look at the corner of the display, it was now 3:40 am.
