Chapter 196: Chapter 196 I Want to Go Home
Ma Bo’s uncontrollable body collapsed to the ground, and instead of bleeding, his wounds started to ooze out scraps of paper.
He didn’t know what to do anymore; he desperately twisted his head, trying to see his father.
But as he turned his neck, he felt a chill at his heart, as a cold wind rushed into his chest.
The heart, formed by dark energy and grudges, was devoured by Ma Manjiang, and he watched his father bite off his own heart and then truly abandon his body.
"Ah, ah..."
No sound could come from his throat, and as his last bit of strength was taken away, Ma Bo could no longer fend off the Paperman’s attack.
As soon as he opened his mouth, scraps of paper emerged.
As he was submerged by the paper scraps, his eyes seemed filled with disbelief.
The heart that Ma Bo had, which was made of dark energy and malice, was bitten off by Ma Manjiang, who from this regained a trace of power, but now he was just a severely damaged Residual Soul that couldn’t escape on his own.
He wanted to attach himself to another Outsider, but those Outsiders had seen him just eat his son’s heart.
Now even the perverse and vicious Outsiders were growing wary of Ma Manjiang, who fled in panic and ultimately rushed towards Huang Ying.
Among everyone, Huang Ying seemed the weakest; he wanted to take possession of Huang Ying’s soul, which would also allow him to take Huang Ying as a hostage.
Being pursued by two crazed Outsiders, Huang Ying was running until he was nearly out of breath, and now here came Ma Manjiang with his face covered in blood charging at him.
Misfortunes never come singly; Huang Ying was about to run smack into Ma Manjiang.
That terrifying and fierce face, he would never be able to forget it for as long as he lived—he wanted to move his body, but his legs wouldn’t cooperate.
Ma Manjiang’s eyes hid the deepest malice of the Mortal World, with his son’s black heart still in his mouth; his cheeks erupted with jagged Blood Silk, and now, with his mouth wide open, he aimed to swallow Huang Ying’s Residual Soul.
The smell of decay and blood came from that mouth, and Huang Ying helplessly watched as it reached out in front of him!
"Touch the secrets deep within the soul!"
A heavy punch landed on Ma Manjiang’s twisted face, the furious fist almost breaking through his cheek.
"Hide behind me!" Han Fei shoved Huang Ying aside, his eyes full of Blood Silk, with the faint outline of a gruesome Ghost Face emerging on his back.
The Ghost Pattern had been triggered, and Han Fei did not hesitate to rush towards Ma Manjiang, who had only a last bit of his Residual Soul left.
He had been forced to death over a dozen times; the despair he once felt was now the measure of his hatred towards Ma Manjiang.
Han Fei grabbed Ma Manjiang’s Residual Soul’s left arm, and more and more Grudges gathered around him, layer upon layer, all those he had harmed stood before him.
Chu Xia, Zhang Guanxing, Jin Sheng’s homeroom teacher, the feigned insanity of the dorm supervisor, and other Grudges hidden within the academy.
Screams echoed throughout the academy, the Grudges seeking to pull out the thorns in their hearts and return the piercing Hatred.
In the eerie private academy, Ghosts and Monsters rioted, and screams were incessant.
Han Fei kept his gaze fixed on Ma Manjiang, determined to prevent him from experiencing Soul Scattering; he even allowed Xu Qin’s Pet to feed some dark energy to him when he was about to give out.
Knowing what Ma Manjiang had done, Han Fei felt no sympathy for him, but the scene was almost enough to scare Huang Ying to death.
When the Grudge dissipated, only Ma Manjiang’s head was left, akin to Jin Sheng in those Manager missions.
"I remember you said you wouldn’t let me die easily, and now I’m giving those words back to you."
Han Fei grabbed Ma Manjiang and headed to the second-floor infirmary, aware that Jin Sheng was in a state of losing control, but he couldn’t wait to make Jin Sheng witness everything.
He reached out to open the cabinet, but Jin Sheng wasn’t inside. Instead, the inner walls of the cabinet were filled with ferocious and painful script, those characters seeming to record tale after tale of despair.
"Jin Sheng, I’ve brought Ma Manjiang here."
The weakened Ma Manjiang struggled with all its might, desperately trying to escape, knowing very well what fate awaited it in the hands of Jin Sheng.
After Han Fei spoke those words, the characters in the cabinet seemed to bleed tears, all turning into black-red symbols, followed by a terrifying suction force that pulled Ma Manjiang’s head into the cabinet.
Tale after tale of despair written by Jin Sheng wrapped around the head of Ma Manjiang, the bloodied characters branded onto its face, with black symbols drilling into its brain.
Ma Manjiang let out an even more horrific scream than before, trying to escape, but no matter how it begged, nothing could change its fate.
The infirmary’s medicine cabinet door slowly closed, and at the same moment, Han Fei received a system notification in his mind.
"Player number 0000, please take note! Jin Sheng’s friendliness has increased by twenty!"
"Bang!"
The cabinet door sealed shut completely, and Ma Manjiang’s screams vanished in an instant.
Han Fei had wanted to ask Ma Manjiang some questions, but it didn’t matter anymore. Jin Sheng probably wouldn’t let Ma Manjiang’s soul scatter that easily; there would be plenty of opportunities later.
To deal with a devious and sly criminal like Ma Manjiang, only by truly making it feel pain could there be a chance it would tell the truth.
Looking at the cabinet, Han Fei thought about taking a brief rest, but then he suddenly remembered that Brother Huang Ying was still downstairs.
"How could I leave the biggest hero out in the cold? That’s not the way of hospitality in the Deep World."
Han Fei dashed out of the room in a hurry. As he entered the hallway, he saw a very "warm" scene.
Old Li, covered in ghost-like creatures, looking like a moving Ghost Nest, sat on the staircase steps next to Huang Ying.
He gently patted Huang Ying’s shoulder, seemingly comforting Huang Ying who had collapsed entirely.
"At your age, indeed, even collapse has to be careful enough not to show your vulnerable side to your family. So you hide in a corner to break down and then pretend as if nothing had happened, regaining calm. Uncle has been through these; uncle understands—you don’t have to hide, nor be embarrassed."
Ghost Faces on Old Li’s body had wound their way up Huang Ying’s neck, with distorted arms featuring eyes and Blood Silk emerging curious to touch Huang Ying.
"Everything will pass. Let it all out and cry, let’s vent the pressure."
"Brother Huang Ying! Old Li!" Han Fei ran over quickly, politely supporting Huang Ying to one side and pinched at his philtrum: "Brother Huang Ying? Can you come to your senses?"
Waving his hand, Huang Ying was almost in tears, barely able to speak: "Can’t, can’t exit the game, where am I..."
"Brother Huang Ying, I really owe you my thanks this time. I can answer all your questions for you."
"I have no questions; I want to go home." Huang Ying clung to Han Fei’s arm, barely able to stand, and when he saw Old Li walking towards him again, he truly broke down in tears: "I want to go home, please, if you’re a brother, let me go."
Seeing Huang Ying cry, Old Li took out from his pocket a towel stained with blood and hair. He was genuinely kind, but Huang Ying was truly overwhelmed.
"Alright then, I’ll come find you after I log off, and I’ll explain everything to you." Han Fei supported Huang Ying towards the school building’s restroom, and after avoiding everyone, used his Soul-returning Talent: "Brother Huang Ying, you mustn’t leak what happened here, and be sure to watch out for your safety."
