Chapter 908: Chapter 880: Please Master Teach Me How to Be a Person
"So you dragged me here just to serve as your bodyguard, huh?"
Yao Chou sat beside Li Chen with an expression that still carried traces of discontent.
This was the second layer of the relic.
Just yesterday, Li Chen had brought Yao Chou here.
Having prior experience, Li Chen naturally didn’t need to spend a huge amount of time finding the path.
Moreover, with a skilled protector like Yao Chou by his side, the threats posed by Primordial Beasts were significantly diminished.
After all, in his current state, he still couldn’t use True Qi. It was manageable against Yellow Rank beasts, but if it were Profound Level ones, the pressure would be immense.
"Also wanted to bring you here to see how it is, you know." Li Chen said with a grin.
Yao Chou curled his lips, looking unconvinced.
But in this case, Li Chen was actually telling the truth.
Even without Yao Chou, Li Chen could rely on his alter ego to successfully pass through the first layer.
Although the alter ego wasn’t as strong as himself, it still had at least half his current strength.
Just passing through the first layer was more than sufficient.
"Still, your Enchanted World is pretty impressive!" Yao Chou said as he casually picked up a wild fruit and stuffed it in his mouth, smiling. "Though there aren’t many structures, whether it’s the density of Spiritual Energy or the sheer size, it’s all better than my family’s estate."
"Really?" Li Chen looked at Yao Chou in surprise.
The second layer’s space was indeed vast, and the Spiritual Energy here was abundant, but Li Chen hadn’t thought that it could be better than the Pharmacist Clan where Yao Chou lived.
"Of course, it’s also because of the martial artists. There are too many people in my house. Quite a few martial artists too." Yao Chou extended a finger and explained, "Every time martial artists train, they absorb Spiritual Energy from the air. With people practicing for so many years, the density of Spiritual Energy in the air can’t compare to your Primitive Forest."
Li Chen nodded thoughtfully, thinking to himself: "If he finds out there’s still a third layer here that not even I can access yet, this guy probably won’t be able to pick his jaw up from the floor!"
But Li Chen was clear about one thing.
Some secrets are best kept to oneself. Tell too many people, and no matter how good their intentions might be, it inevitably leads to complications.
"Alright, enough nonsense. Let’s have a couple more sparring matches!" Yao Chou said, laughing as he casually threw the fruit core aside and stood up. "Being able to train in a place like this is definitely good for me too. Besides, you’re already stronger than me now. If I don’t seize this chance to thrash you thoroughly, I might not get another opportunity later."
Upon hearing Yao Chou’s words, Li Chen couldn’t help but feel black lines forming in his mind.
Indeed, they had sparred a few times before, but every match had ended with him getting utterly thrashed.
For a martial artist, being unable to use True Qi was a significant handicap.
Whether in attack, anticipation, or his own movements, he couldn’t reach the standards that Li Chen envisioned.
This sense of disorientation made it impossible for Li Chen to engage effectively in combat.
"But—this fight, I’ll take it anyway!" Li Chen smiled and stood up.
He could feel his body was close to recovery, and he was confident that once fully recovered, his strength would take another leap.
If that happened, he’d only grow stronger.
Faced with his ever-increasing power, what Li Chen needed to do was simply learn to properly wield his strength.
True mastery only comes when one can perfectly wield their own power.
Otherwise, no matter how strong one’s abilities might be, it’s just hollow fluff in the end.
Li Chen and Yao Chou sparred not to determine who was stronger, but to better hone their ability to use their own strength.
"Splash!"
A column of water shot into the sky as a bloodthirsty maw surged from the nearby lake, sinking its teeth into a one-horned wild ox that had been drinking by the shore. It dragged its prey into the depths of the water.
Seeing this, Li Chen quickly shouted, "Little Jia! Kill it cleanly, but don’t drool all over it, or you’re not getting any of the meat tonight!"
"Plop!"
A spray of water splashed from the lake, seemingly in response to Li Chen’s words.
At that moment, Yao Chou suddenly made his move.
"Boom!"
His fist landed squarely on Li Chen’s face, sending him flying.
"Insult someone’s ancestors, not their mother; fight someone, don’t hit their face—don’t you know the basic rules?" Li Chen angrily roared at Yao Chou as he climbed back to his feet.
He wasn’t bothered by the fact that Yao Chou had sneak-attacked him—for Li Chen, sneak attacks were just another method of initiating combat.
"If you ruin this handsome face of mine, how am I supposed to woo girls in the future?" Li Chen said while patting his face.
Yao Chou rolled his eyes, looking like he was about to punch his companion into oblivion again.
"Relax. Your skin’s thick enough that even if I go all out, I won’t damage it," Yao Chou said with a sinister smile.
"Whoa, Old Yao, what are you up to? That tone of yours doesn’t sound right..."
"Nothing much." Yao Chou cracked his knuckles and walked toward Li Chen. "I’m just in the mood to beat you up, that’s all!"
"We’re both martial artists—it’s not fair! I can’t use True Qi right now, I’m basically half-disabled; you can’t just pummel me like this!" Li Chen protested.
"Don’t worry!" A malicious grin spread across Yao Chou’s face. "We’re both martial artists—I won’t kill you."
Soon, Li Chen’s cries of agony reverberated across the lake.
On the lake’s surface, crocodile Little Jia poked its head up, silently observing the scene. In its heart, it had now classified Yao Chou as an even more dangerous entity than Li Chen.
"Stop! Stop! No more!"
Li Chen lay weakly on the ground, covered in dust and footprints.
Although it was supposedly sparring, it was clear that Yao Chou had no intention of holding back, seemingly exacting all the pent-up frustration Li Chen had previously inflicted on him.
"You think you can just call it off whenever you feel like it?" Yao Chou’s face still carried traces of unspent enthusiasm.
"Seriously, no more." Li Chen slapped the ground and glared at Yao Chou. "If you keep going, I won’t teach you how to flirt with girls!"
"Uh..."
Hearing this, Yao Chou froze on the spot.
"Don’t give me that look—any fool can see you’re smitten with Jiang Bingyu. I’d been planning to help you with some advice, but I didn’t expect you to be so heavy-handed when dealing with me!"
Seeing Yao Chou still in a dazed state, Li Chen shook his head with an exaggerated expression of disappointment.
"Of all the brothers I have, you’re the cruelest. Everyone says guys will betray their bros over a woman. But here I am without one, and you’re already stabbing me in the back—I’m heartbroken here!" Li Chen declared melodramatically.
Yao Chou nodded solemnly before sitting cross-legged.
His face now carried an air of gravity.
"Master, I humbly request guidance on life!"
Yao Chou clasped his hands together and bowed deeply to Li Chen.
