Chapter 270: Chapter 248: The Boss Driven Mad by His Junior
The passersby around looked at the van that had suddenly stopped with a hint of confusion, but they soon continued walking forward, minding their own business. Really, it was none of their concern.
Inside the van, however, there was dead silence. The kidnappers looked at Li Chen, completely dumbfounded.
Why wasn’t the person they had kidnapped Young Master Zhou but instead some young man who had appeared out of nowhere?
The boss, who had turned around from the passenger seat, saw Li Chen and became completely stiff. His mouth slightly agape, the cigarette in his mouth then dropped to the floor.
Li Chen was full of confusion. Why are they all staring at me like that?
He blinked and said, "Uh, I’m a married man, I don’t swing that way, thanks."
The boss in the passenger seat suddenly erupted, shooting from his seat to the back, and fiercely slapped one of the kidnappers on the head.
"You fucking kidnapped the wrong person? How the fuck do you even kidnap for a living? Didn’t I tell you to look at the picture clearly last night?"
While cursing, the boss went on to continuously slap another kidnapper, but this did nothing to quell his anger; after that, he slapped yet another kidnapper.
"And you, we finally got a chance to target someone going out alone, and you fucking kidnapped the wrong person. Don’t you know you never get the same opportunity twice?"
The boss was about to lose his mind. Were the people he brought out idiots?
The kidnappers kept silent, not daring to speak. The boss was throwing a tantrum, and speaking up now was like asking for death, wasn’t it?
"Pig brains," the boss said, hands on his hips and fuming. This fucking mess, not to mention the money that was now out of reach, would be humiliating to talk about. Did he even want to keep working in this industry?
The boss looked at the silent kidnappers and kicked one of them: "You’re quiet now? Think of a way to fix this, come up with some kind of remedy. Hurry up!"
The boss kicked the kidnappers one after another, then he looked at Li Chen who was tied up.
Li Chen looked at the kidnappers, almost bursting out laughing to himself. Damn, he had never seen such amusing kidnappers who could even kidnap the wrong person. He was really impressed.
"Boss, I think we should go back. There might still be a chance to kidnap Young Master Zhou," a kidnapper weakly suggested.
Without hesitation, the boss slapped him.
"You shoot a gun into a group of rabbits, the rest know to run. Even Zhou Shaoyu who’s dumb would know to run. If we go back now, we won’t even find a shadow."
"Boss, we should hurry and run. The Zhou Family probably knows about us by now. We might not even be able to save our own lives later."
At this suggestion, the boss took a deep breath and kicked again.
"Did I teach you to just run? What I’m asking for is a solution, not for you to run. I must have been blind to take you on as my underling," the boss shouted, practically unable to contain his rage.
"Boss, in my opinion, we can only hide away now and look for another opportunity," another underling spoke up:
"Now we’ve kidnapped the wrong person, and the Zhou Family is definitely on alert. Trying to kidnap someone again isn’t going to be easy. We need to find another chance."
"What about the employer?" the boss’s attitude finally eased a bit as he frowned. They had already agreed on a time, and now, to think they had kidnapped the wrong person.
"That..." The underling looked troubled, "We can only delay our dealings with the employer for now. Plus, if we hide first, the Zhou Family can’t find us, and naturally, they won’t be able to track down the employer either."
At that moment, the boss finally nodded, relieved that at least one of his underlings was not beyond help and seemed somewhat clever.
"Then boss, what about him?" another underling asked, looking at Li Chen. "Do we let him go?"
Another slap came from the boss.
"Let go? Are you fucking asking to die? If he goes straight to the police and describes all of us, wouldn’t that be a one-way ticket to death?"
"What do we do then?" the underling complained bitterly, as if it wasn’t his fault. It was those other three who had actually done the kidnapping.
The boss exhaled, looked at Li Chen, and Li Chen stared back at him, his expression utterly calm.
In his gaze, a glint of cold light flashed by, but then he furrowed his brows again.
He had wanted to get rid of Li Chen, but doing so would inevitably attract police investigation, and that would be the end of them. But if they didn’t kill him, and Li Chen called the police, they’d be on the run again. Either choice was troublesome.
The boss, unable to help himself, slapped the kidnappers again out of frustration. If only they hadn’t kidnapped the wrong person, there wouldn’t be such a mess.
"Boss, maybe we should just take him back with us, lock him up for a while. After we kidnap Young Master Zhou and get the money, we can release him and then leave Linchuan," suggested the smarter kidnapper from before.
Indeed, that was the only option left. However, a kidnapper murmured sotto voce, "We’ve been living on instant noodles every day; if we bring another mouth, won’t we even run out of instant noodles?"
"Smack"
The boss slapped him across the face, furious. "Are you still worried about that at this point?"
Li Chen was about to burst into laughter. Could they be any funnier?
"Uh, everyone, could you stop for a moment?" Li Chen spoke up, "I have something urgent to attend to, so I’ll be leaving first and won’t be able to join your game."
After he finished speaking, the group of kidnappers saw that Li Chen, who had been bound with his hands behind his back, suddenly struggled, and the ropes instantly snapped.
Instantly, several of the kidnappers were stunned.
Upon seeing this, the boss was immediately enraged. Damn it, they couldn’t even tie someone up properly, what was the use of these underlings?
"What are you standing around for? Tie him up!" the boss barked angrily.
The kidnappers snapped out of it and all rushed towards Li Chen, trying to tie him up again.
But how could these kidnappers be a match for Li Chen? With a slap of his left hand, one kidnapper cried out in pain and then fell to the ground, while another was pushed gently and stumbled backward, crashing into the van door.
In just a few seconds, all the kidnappers were taken down by Li Chen, not a single one showing signs of life.
With a grin on his face, Li Chen looked at the boss and said with a smile, "Next time, you’d better teach your guys properly."
Having said that, he threw a punch directly at the boss’s face. The boss staggered back several steps, looked at Li Chen in shock, and then fainted.
Li Chen dusted off his hands and stepped out of the van. Sigh, although watching these stupid kidnappers had been entertaining, it still seemed quite a distance from Lin’s Group from here.
Just as he jumped out of the van, suddenly, a blue sports car stopped right beside the van, and the young man from before jumped out, followed by a middle-aged man in a Sun Yat-sen suit who appeared very low-key.
There’s a saying, if you meet someone wearing a Sun Yat-sen suit with hands in their pockets, never mess with them, for they are invariably people of influence.
Zhou Shaoyu was surprised to see Li Chen coming out of the van, and Li Chen was equally surprised to see Zhou Shaoyu.
How did this guy find his way here?
How did this guy get out on his own?
The same thought flashed through both their minds at the same time.
"Are you okay?" Zhou Shaoyu couldn’t help but ask.
"Do I look like I’m not okay?" Li Chen smiled slightly. He hadn’t expected Young Master Zhou to be so interesting, actually caring about someone else’s safety. Nowadays, heirs like him rarely showed this kind of concern.
Zhou Shaoyu was startled. Yeah, his opponent didn’t seem to have a scratch on him, but wait, that’s not right, why was the opponent unharmed?
Zhou Shaoyu kept being surprised. It didn’t make sense; the guy had been kidnapped, so how could he be completely fine?
"The kidnappers are all inside there, go have a look for yourself," Li Chen said indifferently.
Zhou Shaoyu and Uncle Da looked inside and, sure enough, found that all the men were knocked out.
At this, Zhou Shaoyu’s perception of Li Chen changed, and Uncle Da adopted a subtle cautious stance.
Even though they didn’t know who this person was, being able to handle several kidnappers alone meant he was not to be trifled with.
When Zhou Shaoyu looked at Li Chen again, his expression had changed, "Did you take on the six of them by yourself?"
Li Chen shrugged, "Do you have anything else? If not, I’ll be leaving."
While Zhou Shaoyu hadn’t yet replied, Uncle Da said coldly from behind, "Sorry, but you can’t leave. You need to come with us."
Li Chen frowned, and so did Zhou Shaoyu from the back, "Uncle Da, he’s not with the kidnappers, I personally saw them abduct him."
"Shaoyu, you are still young. If this person had such skills, the kidnappers couldn’t have captured him. This may very well be a trap," Uncle Da’s eyes gleamed. He had seen too many of these tricks. If Li Chen developed a friendship with the Young Master and later endangered the Zhou Family, it wasn’t impossible.
Li Chen was taken aback. Damn, why would this bodyguard jump to such conclusions?
Yawning, Li Chen turned to leave indifferently, "Say what you want, it has nothing to do with me. The kidnappers are right there; you can ask them."
"Stop right there!"
Uncle Da’s eyes flashed with intensity as he took a step forward, reaching out for Li Chen’s arm. But, just as he was about to grasp Li Chen, Li Chen moved his hand slightly and with a subtle twist of his body, touched Uncle Da’s joint, causing him to feel a sudden weakness in his hand.
At the same time, a powerful force surged, forcing Uncle Da to retreat.
Uncle Da stumbled back several steps, the shock in his eyes undisguised. He hadn’t been able to block that move from Li Chen, which had been terrifyingly powerful.
Li Chen said calmly, "If you attack again, don’t blame me for being ruthless."
And Zhou Shaoyu was entirely dumbfounded. Was this person even better than Uncle Da?
Uncle Da’s eyes showed a hint of wariness, but he still insisted firmly, "No matter who you are, for the sake of my Young Master’s safety, you must come with us today."
