Chapter 87: Chapter 87: Unable to Overlap
Bo Yan was looking truly troubled, a sight that baffled Yuran completely.
She silently finished her noodles, then tidied up the bowl and placed it in the kitchen sink.
Bo Yan showed no signs of leaving. She moved to sit across from him, "Seventh Brother, aren’t you going back?"
She had school tomorrow, with many lessons ahead, and was ready to rest; what was he doing there, sitting with her? They’d had their midnight snack, surely all that needed to be said had been said!
Bo Yan looked up, his gaze fixing on the girl’s slightly complicated and tense face, feeling somewhat uneasy. He organized his words, "I heard from Xie Cheng that you made a bet?"
As he spoke, his fingers lightly tapped his knee.
If it were someone who knew him well, they’d know he was nervous, but Yuran wasn’t paying attention and didn’t really understand him, so she missed it.
At those words, Yuran’s heart skipped a beat. Was he here to reproach her all this time?
Did he think that her still being associated with the Bo Family was bringing shame upon them? Was this why he was so unhappy?
With countless thoughts whirling inside her, she couldn’t figure out how to explain herself for a moment and could only try her utmost to assure him, "Seventh Brother, don’t worry, I won’t bring shame to the Bo Family.
If I lose, I will take responsibility myself."
Take responsibility herself?
Inexplicably, Bo Yan was slightly angry. How would she take responsibility? Sleep with that scum?
His suddenly gloomy expression made Yuran’s heart drop, and she subconsciously grew fearful, wondering if she’d said something wrong. So, she revisited her words; there didn’t seem to be any issue.
Looking up and seeing Bo Yan’s deep gaze, she averted her eyes, "Seventh Brother, I know you despise me, but don’t worry, I’ll soon leave the Bo Family’s household registration."
By then, no matter what, they wouldn’t be able to involve the Bo Family.
Having decoded Yuran’s words, Bo Yan grew even angrier, but since their relationship had already been poor, delving deeper might make her dislike him more.
He was several years her senior; he couldn’t just make things hard for her.
Taking a deep breath to suppress the anger in his heart, "Xie Cheng couldn’t come to pick me up; do you have a guest room here?"
Yuran: "..."
Under Bo Yan’s piercing gaze, the words choked in her throat. Then she got up to tidy a room, ending up preparing a guest room, but ironically, she was the one who ended up sleeping there!
Yuran, questioning life, stared at the door of her bedroom, the words Bo Yan had said earlier echoing in her mind.
"I’m not used to small beds, sorry for the inconvenience."
Isn’t that toxic!
Aren’t you germophobic? Aren’t you...
Yuran drifted to the guest room like a ghost, tossing and turning, unable to sleep; this was utterly ridiculous, truly unbelievable!
Whose house was this anyway?
Where did he get the nerve?
I’m so angry!
With a punch to the quilt, Yuran, having nowhere to vent her frustration, rambled into the late night, finally drifting off into a fitful sleep.
Meanwhile, Bo Yan stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows in Yuran’s room, his eyes open all night. He had never been fond of anyone and did not know what being in love felt like but...
He perhaps did not quite like Yuran at the moment, but he didn’t dislike her either.
The Yuran before and after the fall repeatedly contrasted in his mind, and though it felt bizarre, he simply could not reconcile the two as the same person.
Pondering this until dawn, he finally slowly closed his eyes.
Whether she was or wasn’t, it didn’t matter right now, he’d talk about it when he returned.
Pulling out his phone, he sent a text to Xie Cheng, and left the apartment before Yuran woke up, taking the keys Yuran had left on the shoe cabinet with him.
