Chapter 337: Chapter 337: I’m Wasting Money, What Are You Happy About?
"Baby, this isn’t your fault, don’t blame yourself, okay? Let’s find her and make it up to her."
"How could it ever be made up?"
She was indeed very upset. Because of her own mistake, her little sister, though she had been young at that time, but... that wasn’t an excuse for losing her sister.
She couldn’t even dare to think now what identity she would face her sister with if she really found her.
Bo Yan, perhaps considering Yuran’s thoughts, comfortingly said, "Don’t worry, there’s always a way out of a difficult situation."
"Mm."
"Hungry?" They hugged for a while before Bo Yan asked.
Yuran was indeed a bit hungry by then and nodded, "A little."
Bo Yan chuckled softly and took out his phone to call Xie Cheng, but before he could make the call, someone knocked on the rest room door. He helped Yuran sit up properly before he went to answer it. Standing outside was Xie Cheng, who had come with dinner.
He was carrying five or six food containers, all marked with the Fuyunfang logo. Xie Cheng wasn’t planning to come in; he handed the containers over, "These are all dishes you two like.
Since I couldn’t be of much help on the set, I didn’t have much else to do, so I went to buy food for you guys. Looks like I came at just the right time."
Bo Yan took the containers and hummed in agreement, "She just got hungry. By the way, how is Yinran Entertainment planning to deal with this scandal?"
"Pay up."
Xie Cheng scoffed, stepped in and shut the door, "Since you want to hear it now, I’ll tell you. This time, Yinran Entertainment was quite efficient, releasing ’Empress of a Generation’ for free right up to the last episode.
They also replied with a statement, asserting they’d never exploit Fu Yuran’s fame for profit. More importantly, they refunded the exclusive rights purchase fee to the streaming platform, which was reportedly a million per episode.
’Empress of a Generation’ has eighty episodes and there was a revenue-sharing agreement in place, with profits beyond the purchase price split fifty-fifty between both parties. But now, all the efforts have been in vain.
Apparently, that platform is now suing Yinran Entertainment; they’re not just expecting the return of the eighty million but also demanding over twenty million in compensation for promotional losses.
Falling into a crisis amidst a storm, it’s as if trouble is piling on. Moreover, even though they are committed to not profiting off Fu Yuran’s name, the statement was met with skepticism by netizens, lacking any persuasiveness.
Yinran Entertainment has been nearly out of business for a year. With Fu Yuran as their moneymaker, they used to pull in good resources and investments. Now they’re like rats crossing the street, everyone beating a path to their door. And the final straw is ’Empress of a Generation’ continuing to cause uproar.
For them to rise again is extremely difficult, unless they make connections with even more powerful individuals. Otherwise, everything is a joke, and Yinran Entertainment is just waiting for the end."
Though Bo Yan didn’t say a word, quietly listening, his gaze grew increasingly grim. From the start, Xie Cheng didn’t understand why Bo Yan was so interested in Yinran Entertainment, and he was still puzzled.
But he had always kept an eye on Yinran’s situation.
Seeing Bo Yan’s expression now, he actually felt a bit wary.
He didn’t understand how his expression could change so quickly.
Bo Yan composed himself and, carrying the food containers, headed back into the room, "I got it, go do what you have to do."
"Alright."
...
Back in the room, Bo Yan saw the little girl staring at him intently, probably having heard his conversation with Xie Cheng outside. He placed the containers on the low table. Though he had a separate rest area, the amenities were modest—a small table, a chair.
Yuran couldn’t have imagined that one day, Bo Yan would be doing these things for her, but now that she was watching him, it all seemed so natural.
It turned out that he was truly wonderful to her.
"Heard that?"
After arranging the food box, he turned his head to ask the young girl, handing her chopsticks, then, with a twist of his wrist, he was ready to lift her to the short table.
Yuran hurriedly pushed his hand away, "Bo Yan, don’t fuss, I can get up and eat by myself."
Bo Yan placed her shoes neatly by her feet, his eyes smiling as he looked at her, "Do you feel a bit better now?"
Yuran put on her shoes and pulled him to sit down next to her, sharing a stool. Both of them were not sitting comfortably, so Yuran stood up, pushed Bo Yan down to sit properly, and then naturally sat on his lap.
It felt so unnatural.
Bo Yan raised an eyebrow, observing her as-if-it-should-be demeanor and thought that her mood must have improved somewhat; he couldn’t help but chuckle, and then heard her say, "Bo Yan, it’s not over this quickly. I don’t want to become someone consumed with hatred.
But to forgive like a saint, I can’t do that either. The hurt I suffered exists.
If I weren’t so lucky, I wouldn’t exist in this world anymore. They are beyond excuse."
Bo Yan tightened his hold on her hand, "I don’t like you talking about not existing in this world. If there’s no you, there would never be anyone else for me."
Yuran leaned back into his embrace, her face against his chest, "Bo Yan, I didn’t mean anything else by it—of course, you and I will grow old together."
"You’re right," Bo Yan said with a slight smile curving his lips, "but the revenge that should be served must still be served."
"Yes."
"So, Mrs. Bo, would you mind letting Mr. Bo have something to eat first, and then we can continue our discussion?"
"I’m hungry too."
The meal was quite warm and harmonious. Having been with Bo Yan, her mood improved vastly, which made her think to check the online public opinion. She logged back into her official account and was surprised to see the lively scene.
"Hmph... what goes around comes around. Whatever you’ve done, you should clarify it. Now that you can’t, Yinran Entertainment is likely to fade away like this."
Bo Yan hummed in agreement, "Are you upset? After all..." the entertainment company had your hard work.
He hadn’t finished speaking when Yuran interrupted him, "Being reminded of those humiliating moments only reminds me of my failure—I really don’t care about a Yinran Entertainment. If I hadn’t nurtured parasites, I, in my past life, would have created more than just one Yinran.
I failed to judge people clearly, which allowed my efforts to be tainted with humiliation. I don’t think it’s bad to disappear, and even if I need a Yinran Entertainment, I can earn it myself.
Of course, my husband could also give it to me."
Her tone was full of disdain.
The last sentence, however, pleased Bo Yan. He let the young girl ramble on—after all, as long as she was happy, what else mattered? Besides, he thought, why not?
Let alone one Yinran Entertainment, even a hundred would be something he could afford.
Seeing his gentle countenance and subtle smile, Yuran put down her chopsticks, cupped his face, and said, "Husband, you’re so weird. Why are you happy about my losing your wealth? With that jackpot-winning look, you seem so silly."
At her words, one corner of Bo Yan’s eyebrow twitched upwards slightly. By the time Yuran sensed the danger, he had already pressed down on her and his lips were on the girl’s across from him, grinding indulgently.
