Chapter 168: How Will You Thank Me?
Chapter 168: Chapter 168: How Will You Thank Me?
"Do you really need me to bring it? It’s all cold greens by now," Bo Yan’s voice suddenly appeared behind the two. Chief Bo turned his head to look at him, "You think everyone’s like you, a wasteful son."
Yuran glared with wide eyes: "..."
Was this how they interacted at home?
Unconvinced, Bo Yan ruffled his hair and walked over, "I’m not some prodigal son, Dad. You should thank our ancestors for that!"
Chief Bo, "Loafing around, and that’s not prodigal?"
Loafing around?
Yuran muttered to himself in a subdued voice, Do I have some misunderstanding about the term ’loafing around’?
Bo Yan squatted down beside the two, getting somewhat close to Yuran. Chief Bo watched everything, thinking to himself: Tsk tsk, what a coward.
"Even if your son is loafing around, he’s at the top tier of loafers. If you retire one day and have no income, your son can ensure you have nothing to worry about in terms of food and clothing."
Chief Bo angrily retorted, "Who told you I needed your support after retirement?"
Bo Yan raised his eyebrows, looking surprised, "Oh, you don’t need my support? Even better."
This damned fool.
The color of Chief Bo’s face darkened, "You’d better scram, listening to you is infuriating."
Bo Yan, "Oh, so now you know what it’s like to be infuriated? I finally get to sleep in at home, and you can’t even keep your voice down. Haven’t you heard of disturbing the peace? If you actually lived at home, would our neighbors not complain about us every day?"
Chief Bo: "..."
Yuran: "..."
Seeing the color of Chief Bo’s face grow even darker, Yuran instinctively reached over to tug at Bo Yan’s sleeve and lowered his voice, "Seventh brother, could you, maybe, say a little less."
Bo Yan glanced at her sidewards and snorted, then took the small shovel from her hand to continue loosening the soil, because the old man had mentioned earlier to his mother, "It’s just a son."
Just, a, son?
The tone was so disdainful it was as if he regretted not having thrown him away at birth.
Puffing with anger, Chief Bo stood up, "Wasteful thing. Ranran, I’m heading back first."
"Oh, okay!" Yuran watched as Chief Bo tossed the tool he was holding to one side and hurried back into the house angrily. Bo Yan showed no reaction, which made Yuran think: If I had a son like him, my liver would hurt from the rage, too.
The unfilial son, Bo Yan, gave Yuran a side glance, "Why are you staring at me? Do I look good?"
Yuran, "With such strong malevolence, it’s no use being good-looking."
"You..."
Yuran ignored him and continued with her work, while Bo Yan, vexed after being scolded and then ignored, gritted his teeth, "Who did you learn to be so irritating from?"
Yuran looked at him with confusion, "When did I irritate anyone?"
Knowing but pretending not to know, even more irritating.
Yuran suddenly thought of something and changed the subject, "Seventh brother, I landed the lead role in ’Glory with You, None Betrayed’. Thank you."
Bo Yan suddenly remembered, during the screen test with Yuran, her explosive performance that left him speechless. At that moment, he was even more convinced that the person before him was not the same prodigal and incompetent man from the past.
But, he couldn’t find a convincing reason to satisfy himself at that moment.
He stared at her, saying nothing. Yuran didn’t hear a response, so she turned her head only to see the face that was just inches away. She startled; when had they gotten so close?
She quickly bowed her head, absentmindedly turning the soil. Bo Yan, also slightly stunned, then offered a congratulation.
Yuran smiled, "It’s all thanks to you. I didn’t know how to interpret the character Tang Wan before, but thanks to you, Seventh brother, for your analysis."
"So how are you going to thank me?"
