Peering through the peephole, she saw a tall man standing in the hallway. Ziyan’s hand rested on the doorknob but she hesitated, not ready to face him…

The door light outside went off, also concealing his face.

“Ding-dong—” The light turned on again, illuminating his handsome face.

Taking a deep breath, she turned the knob…

Opened the door, and he spoke first, “Did I disturb your rest?”

Ziyan stood by the door, shook her head.

“May I come in and sit?”

After a moment, she stepped aside to let him in: no need to change shoes, as there were no slippers for him.

Su Yuecheng stepped in with leather shoes, “Is Dudu asleep?”

Ziyan shook her head, worried the child might fall off the bed, and went to carry Dudu out.

Su Yuecheng naturally reached out to take him, his eyes showing a father’s joy, “He’s grown so much…”

If it had been before, Ziyan might have bantered with him, but now she just stood there awkwardly, at a loss.

He sat down with the child on the couch, then nodded towards the paper bag he had brought in, “Inside are medicines for the vocal cords, take them for a month, then I’ll take you to the United Kingdom to see if you can speak again.”
