Chapter 320: Chapter 228: Starting the Blind Dating Journey
He regretted even more that there was surgery scheduled at the hospital the next day, and he missed the chance to take her to the airport.
She left with the child, just like that.
The surgery went on intermittently until evening, and after a busy day, he no longer felt that urgent desire to return home.
“Eh? Dean Su, you’re not in a hurry to go home today?”
Su Yuecheng replied, “There’s still some things to handle.”
“Let me take care of it for you, go back quickly and spend time with your little girlfriend.”
Su Yuecheng smiled but did not explain anything about the “little girlfriend.”
After resolving the matters and returning home, he no longer saw the woman’s figure in that pavilion, nor saw her watering the garden.
“Son! Why have you come back so late?” Liu Yuyuan came over.
Su Yuecheng continued walking into the house and asked, “Has Carey come back?”
“She came back but then went out again.”
Su Yuecheng fell silent, deliberately not asking about that woman.
However, when he went upstairs to change clothes, he couldn’t help but glance towards the room she had once lived in.
The dressing table was empty, and only a few of the child’s clothes remained in the wardrobe; perhaps there was too much to take away.
Her presence still lingered in the room, slowly dissipating…
Lying on the bed she had slept in, he slowly closed his eyes, imagining that she was still by his side…
After more than ten hours of flight, Ziyan arrived there at noon.
Su Nian and the group, who were informed early on that Ziyan was returning, were all waiting at the exit.
As soon as Ziyan appeared, Jin Qiu couldn’t wait and rushed over, “Let me hold Little Dudu!”
Su Nian smiled and said, “Wait until the one in your belly is born, you’ll probably find him annoying by then.”
Jin Qiu gently held the child but said fiercely, “If it dares to cry, I’ll hit it!”
Ziyan smiled and gestured with her hands: Is Qiuqiu pregnant?
Su Nian glanced at Jin Qiu and Wei Lan, “All three of us are pregnant!”
Ziyan was surprised: You all got married?
They chatted while getting into the car; the men were all working, so none of them came. It was a driver sent by Shen Hanxiu.
On the car, Su Nian asked, “Yanyan, why did you suddenly say you want to come back?”
Ziyan simply gestured, mentioning only the flower shop and not the reason involving Liu Yuyuan.
Su Nian regretted that she and Uncle Cheng had not properly developed their relationship before separating, saying, “We can look after the flower shop for you. What’s the rush in coming back?”
“Right! Weren’t you going to have your voice treated?”
Ziyan just smiled and gestured broadly: That’s very troublesome and takes a long time.
“What are you afraid of if it’s troublesome? It’s fine as long as it can be cured!”
We’ll talk about it when there’s time in the future.
Ziyan’s previous lodging had long expired, so Su Nian brought her home.
They helped Ziyan settle down.
None of the three women excelled in cooking, and though Ziyan was a good cook, having been tired from the long flight and the jet lag not yet adjusted, they couldn’t possibly ask her to cook.
So, they all went out to eat instead.
They took turns holding Little Dudu, the little guy sometimes woke up, opened his eyes to look around, and then fell back asleep.
Jin Qiu smiled and said, “Why don’t we become in-laws in the future?”
Wei Lan excitedly nodded, “Yes! Yes! If it’s a girl, she can marry Su Bao. If it’s a boy, he can marry Su Zhen!”
Su Nian shot her a look, “Have you been thinking about this for a long time?”
Jin Qiu laughed, “Haha, I had the same idea! Look, Nian’nian, our three added up is just equivalent to the one you gave birth to. Isn’t that perfect?”
Su Nian glared at her, “Are you trying to say that I’m very fertile?”
“No, no! I’ll surpass you!”
Su Nian, speaking from experience, told her, “Let’s see if you still say that after you have your first child.”
Jin Qiu and Wei Lan anxiously asked Su Nian and Ziyan, “Is it very painful to give birth?”
Ziyan also jokingly gestured exaggeratedly: Painful! They cut such a long incision on the belly!
This scared Jin Qiu and Wei Lan, who widened their eyes.
A group of pregnant moms together naturally chatted non-stop.
Considering that Ziyan needed to adjust to jet lag, Su Nian concluded lunch.
Jin Qiu and Wei Lan went together to visit Mrs. Yang, not accompanying Su Nian and the others.
“Take advantage of Dudu being asleep and rest for a bit.”
Ziyan put Dudu on the bed but walked over to ask Su Nian: Did Tang Shaosheng ever look for me?
It was only then that Su Nian realized she was still worried, “He asked after you had just left. Later, we rarely saw him. I heard he went abroad a while ago, haven’t seen him in a long time.”
Ziyan lowered her head.
Su Nian patted her on the shoulder: “Don’t worry, he won’t take the child away, and even if she really tries to, we will protect you. You can rest easy watching Dudu grow up.”
Ziyan smiled and nodded.
“Go to bed now.”
Ziyan got into bed and was about to fall asleep when she suddenly remembered that she hadn’t contacted Su Yuecheng yet. She got up, took her phone, and sent him a message.
She thought he might be busy and didn’t expect an immediate reply: Why did you get in so late? Have you had dinner?
Ziyan: Yes, I ate with Nian’nian and the others.
Su Yuecheng: Does Dudu make noise?
Ziyan: No, he has been sleeping the whole time.
Suddenly she remembered the time difference; it must be very late where he was. So, she quickly ended the conversation and urged him to get some rest.
Little did she know, that man couldn’t fall asleep.
In the afternoon, Su Nian still went out to buy some groceries because Yang Zichen wasn’t coming over, so she had to cook herself.
When Yang Zichen was around, Shen Hanxiu and Yang Zijing both shamelessly came over to get a meal, thankfully, Yang Zichen and Wei Lan were warmhearted people. If it had been someone else, there probably would have been arguments.
When Su Nian returned, she ran into Shen Hanxiu just as he was bringing the kids home.
“Why didn’t you tell me you were going out to buy groceries?”
Su Nian felt it was absurd: “Why do I need to tell you when I buy groceries?”
“Weren’t you supposed to go out less by yourself?”
Su Zhen, holding onto Shen Hanxiu’s trouser leg, said while changing shoes, “Daddy, don’t be mean to Mommy…”
Shen Hanxiu squatted down to help Su Zhen with her shoes, then turned around to take the groceries from Su Nian’s hands.
Just then, they saw Ziyan coming downstairs with a sleepy Dudu in her arms.
Su Zhen pointed excitedly at the staircase: “Eh? Why is Aunt Yanyan here?”
“Aunt Yanyan is here to bring your little sister to play with you.”
Su Zhen, wearing her slippers, ran towards Ziyan. Ziyan smiled and touched her head; it had been a year, and the kid had grown taller.
Su Zhen, holding Ziyan’s hem, carefully led her to the sofa. Looking at Dudu in her arms, who was wide eyed and looking around, Su Zhen touched her face with her little hand and then turned her head to Su Nian, smiling cheerfully: “Mommy, the little sister is so cute.”
“How about you sleep with your little sister from now on, okay?”
“Sure, Su Bao is mean and won’t hold hands with me. Let him sleep alone and be taken away by the big bad wolf!”
Su Bao remained silent and walked up to Su Nian: “Mommy, after dinner I’m going to Haohao’s.”
“Again?”
Su Nian asked him what he was doing there, but he never said, and Shen Hanxiu knew very well what the boy was up to, so he offered to drop him off after dinner.
While Su Zhen pouted and complained about Su Bao: “He only wants Brother Haozi and doesn’t want me…”
Su Nian teased her: “Didn’t you say you wouldn’t sleep with your brother anymore?”
Su Zhen got a little sulky: “I was just joking!”
At night, Su Zhen really wanted to sleep with the little sister, but Ziyan had a hard time taking care of Dudu alone, so naturally, Su Nian wouldn’t let Su Zhen join them.
Not wanting to sleep alone, Su Zhen slept with her parents, Shen Hanxiu, and Su Nian.
It was the first time both parents slept together, and Su Zhen was very excited, crawling all over the bed. Shen Hanxiu caught her: “Don’t move around, or you might bump into Mommy’s belly.”
Su Zhen complied with an “Okay” and calmed down. “I want to sleep in the middle of you both.”
However, Shen Hanxiu, secretly holding his own agenda, picked up Su Zhen to sleep on his other side: “Just hold Daddy’s hand to sleep.”
Shen Hanxiu, who wanted to steal some affection, soon found out, after soothing his daughter to sleep, when he turned his head to look at Su Nian, she already sound asleep.
Sighing lightly, he tucked in his wife and child, then lay down himself.
Half a year later.
Su Nian’s belly was now round, and Shen Hanxiu was even more nervous, treating her like a precious deity.
Ziyan’s life was well organized, the flower shop business was booming, and Dudu had grown more and more cute, with all the staff fighting to dote on her.
On Monday, when the shop wasn’t too busy, Su Nian, Jin Qiu, and Wei Lan, three expectant mothers, strolled into the shop at ease.
Looking at each other, Jin Qiu spoke up first: “Ziyan, we came today because we have something to discuss with you.”
Ziyan nodded and looked at them, asking what it was about.
Seeing so many shop assistants around, Jin Qiu said: “You tidy up first, we’ll find a place to eat some dessert and talk while eating.”
Ziyan had no objection. The staff were familiar with the processes here, and after a brief tidy up, Ziyan left with Dudu.
They found a dessert shop. In a quiet private booth, Jin Qiu said, “Ziyan, actually, we want to set you up on a blind date.”
Ziyan was visibly surprised and then smiled awkwardly.
Su Nian explained: “You see, Dudu is growing up day by day, shouldn’t you consider your future too?”
Jin Qiu quickly joined in, brainwashing Ziyan: “That’s right, you can’t live your life in fear of being bitten by a snake ten years after seeing a well rope. This time we’ll help you screen them strictly, each one has been carefully selected.” While saying this, she signaled Wei Lan with her eyes, and Wei Lan smiled as she took out a stack of photos from her bag.
Placing them before Ziyan, she hesitantly picked up a few. Dudu, restless, grabbed a handful and then all the photos fell to the floor.
Jin Qiu bent over, picking them up while teasing: “Your daughter doesn’t seem to have your personality; she’s too mischievous.”
Seeing Ziyan still hesitant, Su Nian quietly pointed out the key issue: “Ziyan, Dudu is already seven months old, now is the critical time for speaking, think about it, you spend the most time with her, but you can’t teach her to speak.”
Ziyan looked down at Dudu in her arms, trying to put photos into her mouth and cooing, thinking that this indeed was a problem. She couldn’t deprive her daughter of the right to speak just because she was afraid to take the next step.
Eventually, she nodded in agreement, and so, Jin Qiu helped her embark on a crazy journey of matchmaking…
