Chapter 308: Chapter 220 How can you, a sick cat, possibly be my dad? _2

Su Bao turned her head away and said, “They say the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree…”

Shen Hanxiu raised an eyebrow, thinking to himself that it was indeed true; his son should indeed be outstanding.

Little did he know, Su Bao continued: “You sick cat, how could you possibly be my dad?”

Su Nian, smiling, said: “You are even better than the generation before you.”

That morning, such news was broadcasted:

The youngest daughter of the Su Family, Su Yalan, was jailed for kidnapping a child.

The reason given was the Su Family’s downfall, and Su Yalan’s inability to support herself financially led her to kidnap; the news did not mention that the kidnapped child was Su Zhen, nor did it touch on the past grievances between Su Yalan and Shen Hanxiu. It was simply treated as a general kidnapping case.

Su Nian guessed it must have been Shen Hanxiu who had arranged for it to be reported this way.

Such an outcome was undoubtedly the best.

Unbeknownst to them, Shen Hanxiu went there with a murderous intent originally but after seeing the message from Su Nian, he calmly came up with this plan.

Yang Zijing had been waiting outside Sheng Han Building all day, only bumping into Jin Qiu as she left the main gate when work was over in the afternoon.

Yang Zijing immediately approached her: “Qiuqiu!”

Jin Qiu turned her head, rolled her eyes when she saw him, and quickened her pace towards the bus station.

She had waited for him in the café until after ten o’clock the previous night, unable to reach him by phone, and without any explanation from him. The reason she had waited so long was that she had eaten quite a lot and didn’t want to pay the bill with her own money.

As a result, the night grew late, and she reluctantly settled the high bill, returning home with a belly full of anger that had yet to subside…

“Stop following me!”

“Qiuqiu, I’m really sorry about yesterday. Shall we get in the car? I’ll drive you home.”

Jin Qiu stopped cold and began to scold him: “Can’t you find someone else to bother? Do you find it amusing to play with me?”

“Qiuqiu… I really didn’t play you! Su Nian’s daughter was kidnapped yesterday, and I nearly lost my life!” He looked into her eyes, filled with suspicion, and explained earnestly, “Really, I didn’t get back till four in the morning! You didn’t answer your phone, and I didn’t sleep all night!”

Jin Qiu, half-convinced, half-doubtful: “Everything’s fine now?”

“My brother is still in the hospital! If you don’t believe me, come with me now and see, I’m really not lying to you!”

“What about Su Nian? Is Su Zhen okay?”

Yang Zijing pulled her towards his car: “Let’s go, I’ll take you to see them at the hospital.”

Worried about Su Nian, Jin Qiu got into the car with him.

Once in the car, he diligently helped her fasten her seatbelt. Jin Qiu glared at him, brushed away his hands, and fastened it herself, only to hear him trying to appease her: “Don’t be mad, I’ll take you out for dinner tonight.”

Jin Qiu turned her head towards the window, silent.

When they reached the hospital, they found out that Shen Hanxiu had already been discharged. Yang Zijing immediately turned around and said to Jin Qiu: “See, he really was hospitalized. How about we go have dinner first, then visit his place later?”

“Let’s go find Nian’nian first.”

“As you wish.”

When they arrived, the Su Nian family was dining at Yang Zichen’s home.

Seeing Yang Zijing and Jin Qiu appear together, Su Nian and Wei Lan glanced at her with suggestive looks.

Wei Lan ran to add two more sets of bowls and chopsticks, but Yang Zijing promptly said, “No need, we’re going out to eat later.”

But Jin Qiu pulled out a chair and sat down, “I’ll eat here; if you don’t want to, go ahead, and I’m staying at Nian’nian’s place tonight.”

With Jin Qiu staying, Yang Zijing had no choice but to begrudgingly take a seat, his plans for a date dashed.

Unable to bear Su Nian’s mischievous gaze, Jin Qiu sought a new topic: “Did you guys hear that Yanyan had her baby?”

Su Nian immediately asked, “Ah? She gave birth? Wasn’t her due date next month?”

Jin Qiu pulled out her phone, found the photo, and handed it over: “Yep, she was born this afternoon, a little princess, pretty and pink.”

Wei Lan, looking at the tiny red-faced creature in the photo, her eyes sparked with delight: “Wow! So cute!”

Yang Zichen, who was high and aloof, glanced casually, his interest in children growing as he was about to become a father, yet feigned indifference while serving Wei Lan some food: “Eat up.”

Jin Qiu thought she had successfully changed the subject, but Su Nian took another look at her and Yang Zijing and said, “Qiuqiu, we’re only missing you now…” glancing meaningfully at Yang Zijing, he added, “When do you plan on handling life’s big event?”

Yang Zijing perked up his ears to hear her answer: “It’s still early! There’s not even a hint of it yet!”

Yang Zijing hinted back, “Isn’t that hint right here?”

Jin Qiu glared at him, opting for silence, her ears slowly reddening…

Su Nian and Wei Lan exchanged knowing smiles without saying a word.

In the evening, Jin Qiu didn’t want to leave but was dragged away by Yang Zijing.

The car stopped by the riverside, and Jin Qiu shivered as soon as she got out, a warm coat was draped over her shoulders.

Yang Zijing unabashedly took her hand: “Let’s sit over there.”

Jin Qiu shook off his hand and handed the coat back to him.

Yang Zijing turned, puzzled: “What’s wrong?”

“I don’t need it.”

He chuckled: “Don’t be stubborn.”

“Don’t flatter yourself. I’m not interested in you, so don’t waste each other’s time here.”

He smiled, looking down at the coat she insisted on returning, took it and said, “It’s enough that I’m interested in you. In love, there always needs to be one side following, right?”

“I don’t understand all that high and mighty talk. Just to be clear, I don’t like you.”

“Maybe just for now.”

Jin Qiu firmly replied: “Whether now or in the future.”

His smile was enchanting, but his words were heart-piercing: “Don’t tell me you’re still hung up on that man who left with another woman at the wedding.”

Touching a raw nerve in Jin Qiu, her tone became colder: “That’s my business! Don’t think I’ll be touched because you know so much about me; It’s really annoying, you know?” In front of him, she felt like a blank sheet laid bare, with nothing hidden, a truly vexing sensation…

Yet he continued to unmask everything candidly: “What you dislike… isn’t it the present Li Jinqiu who can’t even see herself clearly?”
