Chapter 307: Chapter 220: How could a sick cat like you possibly be my dad?

Hospital, white sets off everything.

Dawn is gradually coming outside the window, Su Nian is lying by the bed, holding the man’s hand while asleep.

Outside the door, an elderly person, leading two children and guided by a nurse, opened the door to the ward.

Su Zhen, holding Su Bao’s hand, timidly looked at Deng Tonglian, then peeked into the ward. Seeing Su Nian, she immediately let go of Su Bao’s hand and ran over: “Mom!”

Su Nian, who was already sleeping lightly, turned her head and saw her daughter, which swept away some of her fatigue: “Why did you run over here?”

Su Zhen sat in Su Nian’s lap, pointing at Deng Tonglian: “She brought me here.”

It was then that Su Nian noticed Deng Tonglian, immediately hugged Su Zhen, and hesitated but still called out, “Mom.”

Deng Tonglian glared at her and did not respond, walking to the bedside and looking at Shen Hanxiu, asking: “Is my son alright?”

“The doctor said he will be fine after resting for a couple of days.”

Deng Tonglian was about to scold Su Nian for not taking good care of the children, but Su Zhen impatiently interjected: “Mom, dad was so formidable, he knocked down a bunch of people by himself!”

Su Nian nudged her and then spun her body around: “Are you hurt?”

“No, I had dad protecting me.”

Seeing her daughter still lively and seemingly unscared, Su Nian looked again toward the man lying on the bed.

Knowing that he was injured, yet didn’t go to the hospital, and even drove for so long to bring the children back…

Deng Tonglian spoke unhappily: “You can’t leave the kids alone in the future, alright? If you can’t take care of them, I’ll move in and take care of the children myself.”

Su Nian smiled and nodded: “Thanks, Mom.” Su Nian knew she was just looking for an excuse to come closer to her son and grandchildren.

Although Su Nian knew she was not particularly liked, she knew that Deng Tonglian’s not opposing her marriage into the Shen Family was the biggest compromise, and making it easy for her dignified elderly persona to accept.

What she needed to do was refine her flexibility, not argue about everything, because that would only make Shen Hanxiu, stuck between his wife and mother, suffer.

With Su Nian’s agreement, Deng Tonglian still kept a stern face, asking: “Have you eaten breakfast?”

Su Nian smiled back: “Not yet.”

Deng Tonglian looked at Su Zhen, changed to a slightly softer expression: “Zhenzhen, what do you want to eat? Go out with grandma to buy, okay?”

Su Zhen didn’t have a good impression of her, just glanced up to check her mother’s expression, said nothing, but fortunately also refrained from calling her “old witch.”

Su Nian nodded: “Tell grandma what you want to eat, and grandma will take you to buy it.”

Su Zhen looked at Deng Tonglian, turned her head to ask Su Nian: “Isn’t she a bad person?”

“She is your daddy’s mom, your grandma, not a bad person.”

Deng Tonglian smiled and spread her arms to embrace her: “Come on, grandma will buy you something delicious.”

“But mom said not to accept food from strangers.”

“Grandma is not a stranger.”

Su Nian pushed the child forward a bit, smilingly said: “Go on.”

The little one then stretched out her hand, falling into Deng Tonglian’s embrace.

Deng Tonglian then openly smiled: “Oh, our sweet grandchild is quite heavy.”

“Mom, let her come down and walk by herself.”

“It’s alright,” she said, already holding Su Zhen and leading Su Bao out the door, faintly hearing Su Zhen’s voice: “My mom likes to eat dumplings.”

Su Nian smilingly walked back to the bedside, “You’re awake?!”

Shen Hanxiu looked at her, briefly smiled with still a pale face, raising his hand to touch her head: “Didn’t you sleep?”

Su Nian nodded a bit sadly: “Uh-huh…”

“Worried I might die?”

“Don’t say such things!”

Facing her petulant tone, he smiled: “You and the kids are waiting for me, I won’t let anything happen.”

Su Nian smiled, placed his hand under the blanket: “I’ll go call the doctor.”

Shen Hanxiu held her hand, pointing to the bedside: “Call button.”

Su Nian embarrassedly smiled: “Oh, I forgot.”

The doctor came and treated the wounds after checking, then left.

Just then, Su Zhen and others came back.

Compared to the timid appearance when they left, they were visibly happier coming back carrying bags of snacks.

“Mom look, grandma bought me lots of yummy snacks.”

Su Nian: “…” She could almost see Su Zhen getting spoiled.

The whole family indulges her, leaving her alone to play the villain.

Compared to bustling Su Zhen, Su Bao was much quieter, holding a box in his hand, walked to Shen Hanxiu’s bedside, coldly handed it over, coldly saying: “For you.”

Shen Hanxiu smiled, reached out to take it, patted his head: “Good son.”
