Chapter 806: Chapter 448: Invincible Spirituality_1
Sanderhagen, a Power of the Five Mountains, was far more powerful than Fiona Corrine of the Fourth Great Realm. Yet the divine creation, disguised as a mosquito-like creature, had been successfully delivered to Fiona. It buzzed in her ear as she slept.
Reacting instinctively in her sleep, Fiona swatted it away as if it were a common bug. Under normal circumstances, this reaction would have been enough to kill a regular insect.
However, the divine creation was highly elusive. It continued to evade Fiona’s unconscious swats. In control of the divine creation, Sanderhagen repeatedly tried to sneak it back onto Fiona’s body. Eventually, he saw an opportunity and managed to land the creature on Fiona’s neck. If it bit her there, it could initiate "synchronization." Suddenly, a tiny hand slapped it out of the air:
SMACK ——
The insect was squashed dead!
Shelia quickly withdrew her hand, crossed her arms over her chest, and fell back asleep, slurring incoherently all the while. This was pure instinct!
It was Shelia, who was sleeping next to Fiona.
Aside from the National Master, no one understood how exceptionally powerful the Innate Jade Fetus was. Killing the insect was merely a display of Shelia’s innate psychic abilities, a mere fraction of her tremendous capability.
In her sleep, Shelia’s reflexes far outmatched Fiona, also of the Fourth Great Realm. Shelia had squashed the bug effortlessly, while Sanderhagen, who was remotely controlling the divine creation, had completely underestimated her. He hadn’t expected the sleeping girl at Fiona’s side, whose drool glistened on her pillow, to be a threat.
Shelia remained utterly oblivious to the external world even in her sleep.
The moment Shelia’s hand slew the insect, Sanderhagen was blasted with backlash from the broken spell. It felt like a resounding slap in his head, his ears ringing, his vision dark and full of stars.
Two servants from the Nanni Nation immediately rushed to his aid. It was a while before Sanderhagen managed to regain his composure. His face was marked with a flame-shaped scar!
"What happened?" asked Suladar.
Sanderhagen was still trying to comprehend the situation himself. After explaining everything to Suladar, they were both baffled. "Your secret technique is so subtle that even the target wouldn’t notice it, let alone unrelated bystanders."
Sanderhagen speculated: "Could that girl have thought it’s only a mosquito, and swatted it to death unthinkingly?"
Suladar nodded: "It seems to have been an accident." He consoled Sanderhagen: "Rest for now. We’ll stop here tonight."
Sanderhagen thought about it and agreed it was probably just a coincidence, thus he was far from satisfied: "We will try again tomorrow night!"
...
Shelia and Fiona, unaware of their victory, enjoyed the sweetest slumber that night and sprung awake refreshed the next day. Meanwhile, Cornelia and the rest continued to discreetly follow the Bronze Ancient Coffin under the pretence of seeking spiritual medicine.
However, their "luck" was especially good today, they didn’t falter once!
Despite knowing the exact location of the Bronze Ancient Coffin, Owen Bertram subtly guided Cornelia’s group to avoid detours. But today he hadn’t intervened at all. It had been entirely their own doing.
Cornelia’s group had no clue about any of this. They weren’t aware that their sudden streak of "luck" was all because of Shelia.
Having waited the whole day, Sanderhagen was ecstatic at nightfall, ready to try his luck again!
Fiona was initially on guard around Shelia, but after spending a few days together, she realized how genuinely innocent Shelia was. In her view, if the siblings held any nefarious intent, it would undoubtedly be Nicola, Shelia’s older brother, who was harboring it. Therefore, Nicola, in her eyes, was the true villain.
The two girls, oblivious to each other’s thoughts, both concluded that Owen Bertram was a "big bad wolf."
That night, the girls had planned to stick together, but it was Fiona’s turn to keep watch. Shelia said: "I won’t sleep, I will stay up with you."
Sanderhagen’s divine creature came fluttering again. It circled above the campsite, planning to target Fiona again, but approaching a wakeful Fourth Great Realm practitioner wasn’t easy. Moreover, last night’s incident had made Sanderhagen overly cautious. Eventually, he decided to target someone weaker: Daniel Chambers, the second weakest among them.
This time, Sanderhagen was a lot sneakier. He kept his distance from the eerie little girl and tried to approach Daniel from another direction in the camp. He also kept it low, skimming the grass, and only after reaching Daniel did he land it on the ground. Now on foot, he proceeded to creep up on Daniel, using the terrain as cover.
Because of these precautions, the divine creature moved slower than before. It started by crawling up Daniel’s leg, aiming to sneak up into his neck and sting him.
Meanwhile, Shelia was sitting by Fiona’s side, entranced by the campfire.
Suddenly, from the nearby woods, a massive swarm of glowing fireflies flew towards them. Fiona’s eyes lit up: "Fireflies!" As all girls do, she loved them.
Shelia also beamed. "I’ve met them before... They are so cute, always flying around people." Little did she know, these fireflies were attracted to her, not people in general.
A river of fireflies streamed from the forest towards Shelia. They passed directly over Daniel’s spot.
Some fireflies noticed the tiny bug. Horribly enough, it was something that they found irresistible and devoured it instantly!
