Chapter 26 - Senzu Beans
Chapter 26: Senzu Beans
Under the bright lights, Nangong Nayue, dressed in a white gown, lounged lazily on a master-crafted sofa, her white-stockinged feet curled up in a blanket, looking like a cat. In front of the sofa was a forty-plus-inch LCD television, playing Genkami Island’s entertainment news. Seeing Nangong Nayue lying there watching TV, no one would ever guess that the stern loli teacher from school could be so relaxed and adorable at home. “You’re back? Why not hang out with your little girlfriend a bit longer?” Her voice came over, and Nangong Nayue asked without lifting her head. “If I miss the last bus, I won’t make it back.” Luo Yun said, not lingering on the rare sight of the beautiful girl. He’d seen this scene plenty of times, after all. “And Asagi has work tomorrow, so she can’t stay up too late.” “Oh… Did you run into any trouble out there? It’s not exactly safe these days.” Hearing this, Luo Yun’s heart tightened, but he shook his head calmly: “No, Asagi and I were just out having fun. What trouble could we run into?” He chuckled, aiming to brush past the topic. He was lying—not because he didn’t trust Nangong Nayue, but because he didn’t know how to explain it to her. If the right moment came, he’d come clean to Nayue. “That’s good…” Nangong Nayue nodded, her voice trailing off. Up to now, it was just a normal big-sister reaction to her little brother. But as Luo Yun, feeling hungry, rummaged through the fridge for something to eat, he suddenly heard a line that nearly made him choke. “By the way, have you and Asagi done that?” “Cough, cough, cough…” Luo Yun, drinking milk to fill his stomach, coughed violently. This was not something an elder should say, okay? And a loli teacher, no less—being so blunt, wasn’t she afraid of corrupting her students? He was still a kid! “No, and Asagi isn’t that kind of casual girl.” Luo Yun recovered quickly after the initial shock. Despite Lan Yu Asagi’s trendy, Shibuya-style fashion, she was purer than anyone. At the movies earlier, she only clung to him because she was scared. “Oh?” Nayue drew out the word, her tone doubtful. “What casual girl? I was just asking if you went to the amusement park with her.” The girl’s voice carried a hint of laughter, clearly teasing Luo Yun on purpose. “Is this how you mess with people?” Luo Yun was torn between laughter and tears. Though, he had briefly entertained the thought. With a warm, jade-like girl by his side, what man wouldn’t be tempted? But with so many amazing girls around, it was hard to choose. “Hmph~ The hot water’s ready. Fill your stomach and go take a bath. Don’t stay up late playing on the computer—it’s bad for you. Go on.” Nangong Nayue flashed a faint smile, clearly enjoying Luo Yun’s exasperated look, and waved him off. Afterwards, Luo Yun heated up some food from the fridge, ate, cleaned up, and headed to the bathroom, sinking into a tub filled with hot water. Unlike standard household tubs, Nayue’s luxurious lifestyle meant even her custom-ordered bathtub was oversized. The bathroom alone was as big as someone else’s master bedroom. Luo Yun soaked his entire body in the hot water, his pores relaxing as if massaged, washing away the day’s fatigue. He couldn’t help but sigh—being rich was nice. A regular household’s tub wouldn’t even let you stretch your legs. “By the way, I got another fated opportunity earlier.” Luo Yun, his head fuzzy from the soak, closed his eyes. Soon, his golden finger surfaced in his mind. Just one chance. Last time, it was a one-use experience card. He wondered what it’d be this time. Luo Yun didn’t dwell on it and quickly tapped to start. A cerulean light wheel spun, its dazzling disc etched with ancient runes—a breathtaking sight only he could see. Soon, a grey, palm-sized cloth bag appeared before him. A red cord tied its opening. “Obtained Xian Dou ×3.” Initially puzzled, Luo Yun broke into a satisfied smile upon learning about the three beans. Senzu Beans were a special item from the Dragon Ball world. No matter how severe the injury or how exhausted one was, as long as they had one breath left, eating a Senzu Bean would instantly heal them, restoring all stamina and energy, returning the body to peak condition. Imagine fighting a well-matched enemy, getting gravely injured, then eating a Senzu Bean—Luo Yun could picture the look on his opponent’s face. It’d be absolutely spectacular. Though Senzu Beans were a miraculous recovery food, they weren’t medicine. They couldn’t cure diseases, so they had limited effect on curses or negative status effects. Even so, they were more than enough. And getting three at once was like having three extra lives.
Footnote 1: Xian Dou (Senzu Beans): A fictional item from Dragon Ball, capable of instantly healing injuries and restoring stamina and energy when eaten, provided the user is still alive.
