My Co-renting Lady Boss -
Chapter 97 - 097: Switched?
Chapter 97: Chapter 097: Switched?
"Mind your own damn business!"
Li Xiaoli retorted irritably.
"Then I’m off."
Seeing that the class bell had rung, Chen Cang had no choice but to leave Class 5.
Back in his own classroom, the last two rows were all his hangers-on. They could chat and boast even during class since the teacher never bothered them anyway.
"Cang bro, did you find out anything?"
Monkey hurriedly asked as soon as Chen Cang sat down.
"Somewhat, from what Meng Ting said, she didn’t seem to actually see Tang Ming eat that Lingzhi."
Chen Cang frowned as he spoke.
"Then he definitely didn’t eat it. Otherwise, such poisonous Lingzhi would have killed Tang Ming hundreds of times over by now,"
Monkey agreed deeply as he chimed in.
"If he’s not eating it, what should we do now?"
Chen Cang detested Tang Ming and wanted to deal with him as soon as possible.
After pondering for a moment, Monkey said, "Doesn’t Tang Ming love eating that Lingzhi? Let’s just get a more potent one and make Tang Ming eat it in front of you."
"Right, that’s a good idea. Now we’ll watch him eat it with our own eyes. If anything goes wrong, Xiao Jun can take the fall,"
Chen Cang grinned maliciously, and then clapped Monkey on the shoulder, "What are you waiting for? Go handle it now. Remember to make it more poisonous. I want to see that brat taken down with my own eyes."
"Bro Cang, you can count on me,"
Monkey patted his chest and stood up immediately to ask the teacher for leave, claiming he had diarrhea before quickly leaving the school.
When class ended at noon, Monkey came rushing back in, gasping for breath. Seeing the plastic bag in his hand, Chen Cang knew he must have made the purchase.
"How did it go?"
Chen Cang asked eagerly.
Wiping the sweat from his forehead, Monkey smiled, "Bro Cang, I got a more poisonous one this time. The seller told me that even touching this poison will cause rot. He warned us to be extremely careful. Pretty fierce, huh?"
"Haha."
Chen Cang laughed, pleased with the news:
"That’s exactly what we need, something fierce enough to take down Tang Ming for good."
"Bro Cang, it’s lunchtime now. Why don’t we go give it to that little Tang Ming to eat right now?"
Monkey suggested with a wicked chuckle.
"Sure, let’s see if that kid has the guts to eat it." A vicious glint flashed in Chen Cang’s eyes as he led his group straight to the school cafeteria.
Tang Ming had a school meal card. Although he couldn’t withdraw money from it, he could eat as much as he wanted in Tianjiao High School’s cafeteria—but, of course, he couldn’t enter any of the school’s fancier restaurants.
Chen Cang usually ate in the restaurants and didn’t come to the cafeteria. However, today, to watch Tang Ming succumb to the poison, he personally went there. Plus, there was a small score to settle. The first time Tang Ming beat him up was right in the cafeteria. Today, Chen Cang planned to get back everything with interest and show all the other students that he was still the school tyrant!
Approaching the cafeteria entrance, Chen Cang saw Tang Ming and Zhou Youfu seated. Tang Ming had several plates in front of him, while Zhou Youfu kept getting him more dishes to eat.
"Damn glutton."
Chen Cang muttered contemptuously, then approached Tang Ming with his gang.
Seeing Chen Cang and his group approaching, Zhou Youfu quickly nudged Tang Ming and said, "Bro Ming, the annoying flies are back."
"Oh?"
Tang Ming looked up to see Chen Cang’s face, which was an unsettling mix of a smile and a grimace.
"Tang Ming, I heard from Meng Ting that you like eating the Lingzhi I sent. So at noon, I had someone buy another for you. That thing is damn expensive, so don’t waste my kindness, will you?"
Chen Cang said with a maliciously feigned good-hearted smile.
"Oh? More Lingzhi? Give it to me, and if there’s more in the future, you can bring it all to me."
Tang Ming’s heart bloomed with joy. That annoying fly thought it could harm him, not realizing it was actually doing him a huge favor. Plus, if he could get this Poisonous Ganoderma daily, it wouldn’t be long before he could make another breakthrough in cultivation.
Chen Cang beckoned, and the soldier placed the plastic bag on the dining table in front of Tang Ming before quickly stepping away, his heart still pounding. That stuff was too toxic; even a slight touch could lead to decay, and they all feared it.
"Anything else?"
Tang Ming, seeing that Chen Cang and his fellows had no intention of leaving, couldn’t help but ask.
At that moment, Zhou Youfu, curious to see what was inside the plastic bag, reached out to open it, but Tang Ming quickly slapped the back of his hand, stopping him:
"Fatty, don’t mess with my things."
"Oh."
Zhou Youfu was curious, but he didn’t dare to touch anything when Tang Ming told him not to.
Chen Cang had been worried that Zhou Youfu, with his clumsy hands, might accidentally touch it and get poisoned, which would cause Tang Ming to be suspicious, and their plan would fail!
But he didn’t expect Tang Ming to be so protective of his food, taking the initiative to stop Zhou Youfu from touching it.
"There’s nothing much, just that these Lingzhi are really expensive. It would be a waste if you didn’t eat them."
Chen Cang very clearly implied, "Besides, I heard they taste even better with food!"
"Oh, you’re afraid I won’t eat them?"
Tang Ming laughed, "Give me as much as you have and I’ll eat them all."
As he spoke, Tang Ming opened the plastic bag with both hands and directly took out a piece of Lingzhi, throwing it into his mouth and swallowing it after just a few chews.
At this, Chen Cang and his underlings all had a sudden sinking feeling in their hearts—he actually ate it.
"Not bad, quite fresh. This stuff is very nourishing. Bring me as much as you have later on."
Tang Ming said with a satisfied look on his face.
Chen Cang and his men watched Tang Ming, but the expected signs of poisoning didn’t show up at all.
"Why are you staring at me?"
Tang Ming looked at Chen Cang and asked "strangely".
"Nothing... Does it taste good?"
Chen Cang asked nervously.
"Pretty good, it has a nice flavor. Want to try some?"
Tang Ming took out another piece and extended it towards Chen Cang.
Chen Cang dodged quickly, saying in a fluster, "I don’t want any, I’ve got plenty at home, I’m sick of it already."
"Oh."
Tang Ming continued, throwing the Lingzhi in his hand into his mouth and chewing it up before swallowing it down, without any issues.
Chen Cang watched Tang Ming eat most of the Lingzhi without any problems, puzzled in his mind: "That’s not right. How can he be eating so happily when such a poisonous thing should have killed him as soon as he ingested it? How can there be no effect?"
While thinking, his eyes glanced at Monkey, signaling for an explanation.
Monkey had previously described the Poisonous Ganoderma as very dangerous, but now that Tang Ming was eating it right in front of them without any problems, something was off.
After thinking it over, Monkey pulled Chen Cang aside and whispered, "Brother Cang, Tang Ming, this kid, is good with his hands. Could it be possible he switched out the Lingzhi while we weren’t paying attention?"
"You mean, what he’s eating now isn’t the Poisonous Ganoderma we gave him?"
Chen Cang asked subconsciously.
"Exactly, otherwise how could he be fine? My boss, who deals in deadly poisons, said that it would rot human flesh on contact, yet he’s fine. There’s only one possibility, that he swapped it out when we weren’t looking. Given his skill, it’s very likely."
Monkey suggested with certainty.
