Chapter 667: Chapter 0667: Little White White Shows Power
Seeing Tang Ming interact with Xiaobai in such a manner, Liu Mengting and the other two girls shivered, feeling as if Tang Ming resembled the bad kind of uncle who lures children with tricks.
"Mmm mmm mmm."
Xiaobai glanced at Tang Ming and then quickly ran towards the door. Its figure leapt, its paws resting on the iron bars of the door, poking its head out to inspect the outside.
"What’s going on? This creature isn’t thinking of escaping on its own, is it?"
Without delay, Tang Ming followed after it, but considering Xiaobai’s size, squeezing through the window seemed plausible, while the iron bars on the door were a bit too tight.
Just as Tang Ming and the three women reached the door, Xiaobai left the bars, jumped to the ground, and scurried into the pile of miscellany, rummaging around.
"What’s happening here? Does Xiaobai have a way to leave?"
Liu Mengting looked at Tang Ming with confusion, believing all along that Xiaobai was just a pet, unaware that it was actually a Spiritual Beast worth over a hundred million.
"I’m quite looking forward to seeing what this little guy can do; just don’t disappoint me."
Tang Ming’s eyes shone as he watched Xiaobai. Although Xin Badao had mentioned that the Mysterious Snow Spirit was an incredibly rare creature, he had no idea what it was truly capable of.
After only a moment, Xiaobai brought several items to Tang Ming and the others: a sewing kit, a makeup mirror, and a piece of flannel rope.
"Why is it bringing these things out?"
Liu Mengting blankly stared at the few items on the ground.
Xia Wei’er and Liu Mengting were also at a loss. They had seen these items before but hadn’t paid much attention to them. The items seemed too common, hardly the sort to help one escape from a locked room.
"Mmm mmm mmm."
Xiaobai piled the items in front of it and let out a series of cheerful cries.
Tang Ming squinted at the items for a moment, then suddenly his eyes widened, "I’ve got it!"
"What is it?"
The three women immediately looked at Tang Ming with intense curiosity.
"I’ve figured out how to break out of this locked room."
Tang Ming started smiling, his pleasure not stemming from finding a way out of the locked room, but from witnessing Xiaobai’s capabilities. The Spiritual Beast was truly a priceless treasure; even a billion would be an understatement.
"Tang Ming, what have you figured out? We only have ten minutes left before time runs out. You better think of a way to get us out quickly."
Li Xiaoli urged him impatiently.
"Alright, watch closely."
Taking the items, Tang Ming quickly went to the door and climbed onto a chair to inspect outside through the iron window. Unfortunately, with a straight line of sight, he couldn’t see the bolt at all.
"Wei’er and I have already looked into it; you can’t see the door bolt from the window."
Liu Mengting shook her head, kindly reminding him.
"Which is why Xiaobai found a mirror."
Tang Ming laughed, extending his hand with the mirror outside the window, where, with its reflection, he could see the exact nature of the door bolt.
"How did we not think of using a mirror to observe the situation?"
Li Xiaoli crouched at the doorway, peering through the mirror at the door bolt and couldn’t help exclaiming.
"I had thought of that approach, but it seemed even if we saw the bolt, we’d have no way to unlock it. That’s why I didn’t pay attention. Turns out, the bolt itself held clues for unlocking the door."
Tang Ming smiled as he explained, staring at the bolt reflected in the mirror.
"A door bolt is just a door bolt, what’s so special about it?"
The three girls studied it for a long time, unable to discern what was unusual about the ordinary T-shaped iron bolt.
"Look closely, behind the bolt is an integral hoop. This hoop is a design to prevent the bolt from being inserted too far and getting detached. Normally, there would be a small iron peg to secure it in place, but now it’s actually empty."
Tang Ming pointed to the bolt in the mirror, elaborating.
"There really is a small circle, but what does that have to do with anything?"
Xia Wei’er looked a few times and said uncertainly, "The courtyard gate in the shantytown where my family used to live had this kind of iron bolt, too. They’re quite common."
"It’s because they’re common that they are easily overlooked. As long as we can control this ring, we can unlock the iron bolt."
Tang Ming got down from the chair and took out a sewing kit, beginning to thread a steel needle with white thread.
"How can we control that ring from inside? If we could control it, wouldn’t that mean we’ve got control over the iron bolt?"
While Tang Ming was busy, Liu Mengting and the two other women took turns observing the situation outside with a mirror.
"Be careful not to drop the mirror outside, otherwise we’ll really be stuck."
Tang Ming warned as he threaded the needle.
"Crack."
"Oh no, the mirror fell out."
No sooner had Tang Ming’s words fallen than the sound of a shattering mirror and Li Xiaoli’s cry of surprise rang out.
"Damn it." Tang Ming was stupefied, unable to help issuing a curse.
"I, I didn’t mean to!"
Li Xiaoli looked at the others with an embarrassed face. Just now, to get a clearer view, she had extended the mirror too far out, and when trying to pull it back in, she accidentally hit the iron window bars and lost her grip.
"Is this very serious?"
Liu Mengting hugged the guilt-stricken Li Xiaoli, looking anxiously at Tang Ming.
"Even if I were amazing, without a mirror I still couldn’t open the door."
Tang Ming sighed in defeat and asked irritably, "Do any of you three have a small mirror on you?"
"No, we both left our bags outside."
Liu Mengting and Li Xiaoli shook their heads.
"I don’t have one either. All my stuff is with Xiaoli, and my backpack is specially for Little White."
Xia Wei’er rummaged through her backpack and shrugged helplessly.
"Oh my god!"
Tang Ming let out a long sigh. Indeed, it’s not the god-like opponents one should fear, but pig-like teammates. Even if he could perform miracles, with these three burdens, they were just asking to be pummeled. Ten million yuan—losing that would be suffocating.
"Mmm mmm mmm."
Just as Tang Ming was about to snap, Little White bounded in front of everyone with a stainless steel spoon in its mouth.
"A spoon? Little White, are you hungry?"
Li Xiaoli looked at Little White in confusion.
"Clever!"
Seeing the spoon, Tang Ming’s eyes lit up, and he immediately took the spoon and jumped on the chair.
The three women didn’t dare to come forward and ’help’ this time, fearing they might further hinder Tang Ming’s attempt to open the door.
Using the reflection of the spoon, Tang Ming observed the situation outside, then threaded the steel needle attached to the white thread through the bars and lowered it out of the window.
"I get it now!"
Watching Tang Ming thread the steel needle through the ring behind the iron bolt, Li Xiaoli couldn’t help but get excited.
Liu Mengting and Xia Wei’er also had a moment of realization. The logic was simple, but they had not thought of such a method before. Several grown people turned out to be less resourceful than a little beast.
"Got it."
After Tang Ming had guided the needle through the iron bolt’s ring, he let out a sigh of relief, then immediately released the white thread, letting the needle drop to the ground.
Once the steel needle had fallen, Tang Ming held the white thread in one hand and used the handle of the spoon to scoot the needle, which was still threaded, back inside from the gap beneath the door.
