Chapter 666: Chapter 0666: No Way Out
"Ah, these are all ordinary daily necessities. Where’s the key to open the door?"
After searching for a while, Li Xiaoli found a bunch of daily items, not even a proper sharp object, totally unable to use them as tools to pry the door open.
"I can’t open the door or window through the iron gate either." Liu Mengting tried hard for a while and then gave up.
"It seems this escape room really requires using our brains, but how on earth are we going to get out?"
Xia Wei’er furrowed her brows as she looked around the room, unable to think of a solution with her intelligence.
"It really is true that the simplest measures are often the most effective!" Tang Ming pushed at the iron door and muttered helplessly.
"Tang Ming, did you find something?" Li Xiaoli looked hopefully at Tang Ming.
"I’ve found that this room is very simple. If it were applied in real life, many people would find a way out, like breaking the door, opening a window, or destroying a wall. But now, the game rules forbid us to damage anything, and with this restriction, the simplest methods have become a big problem."
Tang Ming touched his nose, recalling the times when he could come and go freely even in secret bases equipped with foreign high-tech security, yet now he was stumped by such a primitive escape room.
"Are you saying that even you can’t figure out a way?" Liu Mengting looked at Tang Ming, surprised and doubtful. If even Tang Ming couldn’t figure out how to break out of the room, they would lose ten million.
"Let’s all rack our brains together; I don’t have any good ideas for the moment!"
Tang Ming shook his head and began to carefully inspect every item in the room, squinting his eyes.
"Hey, there’s a bathroom over there. It looks like the toilet lid can be taken off; do you think that thing could be of any use?"
Li Xiaoli asked eagerly, willing to give it a try.
"What use could a toilet lid have? Besides, if you take off the toilet lid, that would be considered damage to property and against the rules."
Tang Ming rolled his eyes and instructed, "Let’s all gather up everything that can be picked up, and I’ll see if there’s anything we can use!"
The few people began to move at the same time, and in no time, they piled all the items on the floor—needles, threads, pots, pans, and all other household sundries.
"These items are common in everyday life. See if there’s anything that can be made into tools."
Liu Mengting looked hopefully at Tang Ming, unable to come up with a solution herself and now simply relying on Tang Ming’s performance.
"I’m searching. With these items, making tools to unlock a door would be more than enough, but to open a bolt from the inside, that’s difficult."
Tang Ming frowned and shook his head in frustration. He was genuinely stumped this time. Among the pile, there wasn’t even a long piece of wire to make a tool with, and the iron door was perfectly sealed. It was only possible to attempt opening it from the iron window, which was incredibly difficult.
"There’s a magnet here."
Li Xiaoli suddenly picked up a magnet and said excitedly, "I’ve got it; this must be the tool to escape the room. Iron doors and bolts, yes, that’s got to be it."
"You mean to attract the bolt through the iron door with the magnet and then pull it open?"
Xia Wei’er looked uncertainly at Li Xiaoli and the magnet—it seemed like a possible method.
"No use, the magnet is too small. It can’t affect the bolt through the door."
Tang Ming glanced at the magnet and dismissed the idea outright.
"How do you know it won’t work if you don’t try?" Li Xiaoli, unwilling to give up, took the magnet and started to fiddle with the iron door.
Xia Wei’er and Liu Mengting joined in to help as well; perhaps this was the key to unlocking the escape room.
Tang Ming shook his head and ignored the actions of the three women—if he said it was useless, then it surely was.
After going through the miscellaneous items thoroughly, Tang Ming couldn’t help wanting to curse—so many useless things; where could they find the tools to open the door?
Li Xiaoli busied herself for half the day, only to find that the iron bolt outside hadn’t budged an inch, leaving her dripping with sweat for nothing.
"Tang Ming, brother, you were right, this darn magnet is completely useless."
Li Xiaoli returned to Tang Ming’s side with a look of dejection on her face.
"Did you find anything?" Liu Mengting asked Tang Ming, with a worried furrow in her brow.
"I’m starting to feel like throwing a tantrum right now!"
Tang Ming glanced at the clock on the wall; fifteen minutes had passed, and yet they still had not a single clue. Could it be that they were really going to fail in the first escape room?
"It can’t be, even Tang Ming, brother, can’t find a way out?"
Li Xiaoli looked anxiously at Tang Ming. In her heart, Tang Ming had always been omnipotent. How could he fail at a game like this?
"If I really wanted to escape, I have plenty of ways to leave in just a minute, but those methods are against the rules."
Tang Ming shook his head in frustration, thinking fiercely that if push came to shove, he would just use his cultivation to shatter the iron bolt through the door. But that felt a bit too shameless; after all, playing a game meant abiding by its rules, and breaking the door bolt would be cheating, leading to immediate disqualification.
Seeing Tang Ming like this, all three girls felt desperate. If even Tang Ming couldn’t come up with a plan, they were even more out of options. Were they going to lose the competition?
"Hahaha, let’s not be too disheartened. The game is so difficult, Mo Hongsheng and his team might not be able to solve it either."
Li Xiaoli suddenly laughed, saying nonchalantly, "If it’s a tie, then brother Tang Ming won’t lose any money."
"Losing money is a trivial matter, but I’m afraid he would feel humiliated."
Liu Mengting glanced at Tang Ming and said reproachfully, "It’s your own fault for showing off when you shouldn’t have, and now you’re in a fix, huh?"
"Cough cough, this is my first time playing such a game; who knew it would be so complex."
Tang Ming coughed awkwardly, looking around in dismay. Would his reputation be shattered here?
"Mmm mmm mmm."
Just as everyone was at their wits’ end, a strange noise suddenly came from the backpack on Xia Wei’er’s chest.
"Ah! Even little Whitey knows we’re about to lose."
Xia Wei’er patted her backpack and sighed helplessly.
"Little Whitey?"
Tang Ming’s eyes lit up, and he looked sharply at Xia Wei’er, "Quick, let little Whitey out."
"What are you going to do?"
All three girls looked at Tang Ming warily at the same time. This was their pet; surely Tang Ming wasn’t thinking of taking it back?
"Don’t worry, I won’t harm it. Just let it out quickly."
Tang Ming urged them somewhat excitedly. The Mysterious Snow Spirit was specially made for dealing with all kinds of dangers and finding ways to survive in desperate situations. Wasn’t this exactly what they needed to solve the current problem?
Although they did not understand Tang Ming’s intentions, Xia Wei’er obediently opened her backpack.
"Whoosh." Little Whitey turned into a white shadow that leapt out from the backpack, landing on the floor.
"Hehe, little Whitey."
Tang Ming looked at Little Whitey with a sly grin, "Your owners are in trouble now. You should have a way to solve it, right?"
