My Co-renting Lady Boss -
Chapter 396 - 0396: Selling to You for Two Million
Chapter 396: Chapter 0396: Selling to You for Two Million
"Cartier is known as ’the jeweler of emperors, and the emperor of jewelers’, and you would never guess that the world’s first wristwatch was made by Cartier."
Tang Ming raised his hand and showed off the mechanical watch on his wrist, "This watch isn’t that expensive, it’s only about double the price of an Audi A8."
"Pfft!"
Upon hearing this, the others present were flabbergasted; although they had no idea what Cartier was, they were well aware of the value of an Audi A8. For a watch to be twice as expensive as an A8 was unimaginable.
"You, you have a Cartier watch?"
Jack stared at the watch on Tang Ming’s wrist incredulously and asked uncertainly.
"Hehe, keep it low-key, low-key," Tang Ming laughed mysteriously and slipped the watch into his sleeve, then looking towards Jack’s briefcase:
"You say a successful man, yet still carrying an LV bag, don’t you know that LV’s men’s products focus on making suitcases?"
"This, this..."
Jack glanced at his briefcase, unsure how to respond.
Tang Ming picked up his backpack, weighed it, and said, "Look, this nylon PRADA, known as the low-key king, but only truly low-profile high-end individuals would know it. As for what you’re using... no offense, but anyone with a bit of money can afford them."
Hearing this, Jack’s face showed mixed emotions, yet he had no idea how to respond because he wasn’t sure if what Tang Ming was saying was true or false.
Whether Jack believed it or not, except for Li Wenxuan, everyone else did; they all thought Tang Ming was truly a low-key king.
Why didn’t Li Wenxuan believe it? Because she had seen Tang Ming tearing off the no-brand logo from his backpack.
Jack had intended to mock Tang Ming, but ended up being mocked instead, feeling aggrieved, he couldn’t find a way to refute and finally resorted to his phone to search for Cartier wristwatches, and the result...
Turned out Tang Ming wasn’t making up stories; real Cartier wristwatches could indeed cost hundreds of thousands to millions, and were also severely limited edition, making them very hard to get.
"That Mr. Tang, I wonder if your Cartier watch is real?"
After a while, Jack cleared his throat and asked curiously, "I heard that real Cartier watches are hard to come by, how did you manage to get one?"
"Pffft, for you nouveau riche, naturally it’s hard to get, but I have friends," Tang Ming smirked, pulled out his phone to make a call, and said proudly, "Since you don’t believe my watch is real, let me prove it to you."
At that moment, everyone turned to Tang Ming, curious to see what he was up to!
"Hello, this is Tang Ming," the call connected and Tang Ming switched to speakerphone, then loudly shouted in English.
"Mr. Tang, long time no see, I and my people miss you dearly," came an excited male voice from the other end.
"King of Cartier, someone here doubts that the watch you gifted me is fake, what should we do?"
Tang Ming looked triumphantly at Jack and loudly questioned.
"Bullshit, that was a gift from me and my citizens, crafted by the best watchmaker in my country, how could it possibly be fake?"
The king yelled angrily, "Send that doubter to me, I’ll have him beheaded in public."
"Alright alright, I was just asking, no worries, you go on with your business!"
Tang Ming hung up the phone grinning, then shrugged at Jack.
"It’s actually real!" Jack swallowed and then with his eyes shining, said, "Mr. Tang, could you possibly part with it, let me have the watch, name your price, I promise to make you happy."
"What are you trying to do?" Tang Ming quickly covered his wrist and said gloomily:
"You’re not short of money, a few million shouldn’t be much to you, right?"
"I’ve already checked, this kind of watch is priceless now, impossible to get." Jack rubbed his hands, smiled ingratiatingly, and said, "If I get one of these watches, it’ll definitely give me a lot of face in front of my friends. Just sell it to me."
"That won’t do, you heard it too, this is a gift from the king. How will I explain it to him if I give it to you?"
Tang Ming shook his head repeatedly.
"One million five hundred thousand, will that do?"
Jack clenched his teeth and got ready to throw down the money.
"Jack, don’t make it hard for him," Wenxuan quickly intervened upon hearing Jack’s words. She was worried Tang Ming’s watch was fake, which would drive Jack insane!
Seeing Wenxuan intervene, Jack became even more convinced, clenched his teeth, and said:
"Two million, for the sake of Wenxuan, just part with it, will you?"
"This..."
Tang Ming looked towards Li Wenxuan with difficulty, clenched his teeth, and said:
"Well, in that case, I’ll sell it to you, but on one condition: you must never bother Xuan’er again. I can be friends with you through gifts, but I can also use my connections to become your enemy."
"Don’t worry, I promise I won’t pursue Xuan’er anymore."
Jack nodded repeatedly. If Tang Ming really had the clout he appeared to have, he indeed didn’t want to make an enemy out of such a person, but...
Jack directly transferred two million to Tang Ming, who then, with a pained expression, handed the watch to Jack. The transaction was complete, cash for goods.
The rest of the banquet proceeded harmoniously; Jack proudly wore the watch Tang Ming had parted with, handling it as though a poor man who had just found a nugget of gold, never letting it go.
Watching the smug Jack, Li Wenxuan felt a wave of disdain.
Originally, Jack had planned to flaunt his knowledge and taste in fashion, yet he was soundly humiliated by Tang Ming, ending up looking like a loser instead.
After everyone had eaten their fill and drunk enough, they dispersed, with Tang Ming wrapping an arm around Li Wenxuan as they left the hotel.
Following behind, Jack, although filled with jealousy, held back from causing trouble, mainly because he was intimidated by the understated kingly aura Tang Ming exhibited.
After everyone had left, two men dressed in black approached Jack; they were his bodyguards.
"Young master, the Li Wenxuan you’re chasing, why is she leaving with another man?" one of the bodyguards asked skeptically as he watched Jack fiddle with the watch.
"Li Wenxuan has found herself a new Kao Mountain."
Jack snorted coldly, "No wonder she’s been indifferent to me; she’s found a better option."
The two bodyguards looked at each other, puzzled about what had transpired to make Jack swallow the humiliation of his pursued woman being taken by another man.
"How does my Cartier watch look?"
Jack lifted his wrist and bragged.
"What Cartier watch?" the two bodyguards asked skeptically, looking at Jack.
"You’re really ignorant. Cartier is a genuinely high-end brand, known as the ’jeweler to kings and the king of jewelers,’ and the world’s first wristwatch came from Cartier."
Jack boasted triumphantly.
