My Co-renting Lady Boss
Chapter 39 - 0039: You Are the Sweet Core

Chapter 39: Chapter 0039: You Are the Sweet Core

In the on-duty room of the police station, a man dressed in a shirt and trousers sat on a chair, looking at his watch with an anxious expression. He had been waiting for some time, but the person he was waiting for had not yet appeared, and he had no idea if they would return today.

The family elders had instructed him to persuade her to come back, so the man was very anxious and hoped to see her immediately.

Suddenly, a commotion came from outside. It seemed that an incident had occurred and a suspect had been apprehended. The corridor was in chaos, with the suspect shouting about being wronged, while the police officers were indifferent.

However, the man still heard a familiar voice. He stood up and walked out of the on-duty room, and in the corridor, he saw Lin Xue escorting Tang Ming.

"Sister."

The man affectionately called out.

Lin Xue turned her head, and upon seeing the man, her face lit up with joy. Excitedly, she said, "Brother, why are you here?"

"I came to find you, of course. You left home without saying a word, and I was forced by mom and dad to take you back."

The man was Lin Xue’s elder brother, Lin Canghai. Just like Lin Xue’s excellent genes, Lin Canghai was tall and imposing, a handsome and sunny figure who was the object of admiration for many girls, especially in his shirt and trousers, which highlighted his impressive physique, just like those international male models.

Tang Ming, with his head being pushed down, heard this female police officer’s brother had arrived and was even more dismissive. Thinking the woman was brainless, he was sure her brother couldn’t be much smarter. With such police officers, one could only wonder how many innocent people would be wronged.

When Tang Ming lifted his head to see what her brother looked like, at the same time, Lin Canghai’s eyes also looked towards the person his sister was escorting.

Their eyes met, and their expressions changed from surprise to shock.

"How can it be him?"

Tang Ming was startled, and hurriedly pretended to be nonchalant, lowering his head again.

"Canghai?"

Lin Canghai asked in surprise, "Is it really you?"

"What Canghai, sweetheart, and the like."

Tang Ming argued, "Officer, is your brother mentally ill? He comes here and calls me, a grown man, ’Canghai.’ Is he some kind of pervert who fancies me because I look good? Let me tell you, I’m a man with normal sexual orientation; I don’t swing the other way! But if it’s you, Officer Sister, I might give it some thought!"

Lin Xue’s face turned red with anger, pressing Tang Ming’s head down. If it weren’t for being in the police station, she would have slapped him. But she was also puzzled, why would her brother call Tang Ming ’Canghai’? It sounded so strange.

She had never heard of her brother having any unusual fetishes or psychological issues?!

"Brother, what’s this Canghai thing?"

Lin Xue asked doubtfully.

Seeing that Tang Ming denied it, Lin Canghai observed him a few times, confirming that the man’s appearance was correct, and even if they were twins, not a single detail would escape his notice. Then, he said to Lin Xue, "Sister, step outside for a moment. I’ll interrogate this man myself."

"Brother, I’m the police officer here, so of course I should handle the questioning. Plus, what do you want to ask Tang Ming?"

Lin Xue said, utterly confused.

"The matters I want to discuss are not suitable for you to hear,"

Lin Canghai said, "Don’t you trust your brother after all?"

"I trust you, but that’s not according to the rules."

Lin Xue said troubledly, torn between trust for her brother and strict rules.

Just then, Captain Zhou of the patrol squad, holding some documents, walked over. He looked up to see Lin Xue standing by the door, with two unfamiliar men, one of whom was handcuffed, obviously a recently apprehended suspect.

"Lin Xue, what are you doing blocking the door here?" Captain Zhou asked, his tone filled with authority.

"Captain Zhou, this is my older brother Lin Canghai, who would like to interrogate Tang Ming, the suspect of this morning’s assault case."

Seeing the captain arriving, Lin Xue didn’t dare to hide anything and recounted the whole situation.

Captain Zhou, holding a stack of files, said irritably, "Lin Xue, even though you’ve just joined our patrol team, you should be very clear about the regulations. How could you casually show case information to outsiders, let alone your family members?"

"Captain Zhou, my brother is also part of the system, and if he wants to interrogate Tang Ming, he must have his reasons,"

said Lin Xue.

"Alright, even if your brother is part of the system, he can’t break the rules. Let him return to your home and wait for you. This is a patrol team office, not a clubhouse or teahouse for socializing. Go home for catching up,"

Captain Zhou said impatiently.

Lin Canghai, having observed all this, walked over with a smile, took out an ID from his pocket, and said, "Captain Zhou, right? This ID should prove my identity. Is your office inside? I’d like to use it. Why don’t you and my sister wait outside?"

Captain Zhou glanced at the ID, and his face immediately showed shock, then he saluted and said, "Officer, sorry, I didn’t ask clearly just now..."

"It’s alright, there’s no need to explain. I don’t blame you. You and my sister wait outside for a bit,"

Lin Canghai took back his ID and, with Tang Ming in tow, pushed open the door to the nearby captain’s office.

At this moment, Lin Xue was utterly baffled and curious to see what was going on inside. Captain Zhou, however, stopped her, saying, "Lin Xue, your brother is about to question the suspect. It’s better you don’t go in. It’s not time for the afternoon shift yet; come with me to the cafeteria for a cup of coffee."

"But I want to go in and see, the suspect is the one I apprehended."

Lin Xue was reluctant to leave.

"That’s an order, Officer Lin, please comply,"

Captain Zhou said loudly, blocking her way with an outstretched arm.

"Yes, sir!"

Having no other choice, Lin Xue could only follow Captain Zhou and leave.

Inside the office, Tang Ming went in and casually took a seat on the sofa, while Lin Canghai casually closed the door behind them.

"Can you stop the act, ’Tang Heart’?"

Lin Canghai said indifferently after closing the door.

Tang Ming didn’t react for a while and then laughed, "Brother, I don’t go by such a corny name. You must have mistaken me for someone else."

"Mistaken someone?"

Lin Canghai laughed, "You look exactly like him, the tone of your speech is also identical, not to mention the height, skin, even your hair is a perfect match. How could it be a mistake?"

"Still, it’s hard to say."

Tang Ming, unwilling to be recognized by this man, refused to admit anything.

"Enough, I’ve been unable to contact you, but I never imagined we would meet under these circumstances,"

Lin Canghai laughed softly, "Although I don’t know why you went to a high school as a student, I understand your nature and am sure you have your reasons. But if you need my help, just ask. After all, I came to Songlan City only to take my sister back home, and I have no plans to stay here long. Perhaps your current situation is one that could use my help."

"Big brother, I really don’t know what you’re talking about. I do need your help – how about you uncuff me and let me go?"

Like a pig unafraid of boiling water, Tang Ming was determined not to admit anything, raised his hands, and showed the handcuffs on his wrists.
